Asher Heiland had been invited to this place, a realm seemingly set apart from reality. The world was full of violence and discourse, an agonizing existence hidden behind the walking shadows of Gods. Asher didn't fully understand what his purpose was, but that was okay for now. He had spent the last few years of his life roaming. A wandering soul seeking a place where he was needed. Apparently he was needed here. By Kleine. Not exactly a face Asher thought he'd see again, to be honest. Asher keeps slipping away, but something keeps bringing these two Heiland together. Did he still go by that name?
For a fleeting moment, Asher belonged here with Kleine, within the walls of a distorted haven. He could see him from where he stood, and a smile crept onto his face. He just couldn't help himself. "You called?" His voice held a somber tone, wielding reminiscing eyes. Memories flooded his mind, he felt warm. Scenes of soft kisses and false promises, sonnets for the ears. "It's been quite a while, no? What had become of the powerhungry Heiland he had known? "Good to see you." He was reading a script at this point, at a loss for words.
xxxx𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓼𝓮𝓲 𝓴𝓪𝓻𝓷𝓪𝓽𝓪 In truth, he wasn't sure how to act or react. It was sort of tragic, but in the last two years he'd lost much of his ability to commune with people. He no longer had that fiery attitude as before, one so lined with strong ambition and emotional girth. Instead, he almost felt fidgety and afraid when he was forced to speak to those he cared about. Even though it'd been a while, he could still feel something for Asher. It was the faintest jump in his heart at his sight, one that had altered from snow to ash in the twenty-four months since they'd seen one another. That was an interesting change to witness. He was still beautiful though - if not moreso than before. He had . . . matured some, in some way that Kleine could feel. Perhaps he became more stoic. Or even maybe more detached from things.
But he felt something enough for Kleine to come here, and to see him for who he was now: Shinsei. He smiled and spoke nicer words than he could remember him speaking even back when they were lovers. Good to see you, he said. Kleine would've liked to respond in turn: good to see you, too. And yet he felt sort of paralyzed; blocked from doing so. He remained quiet in his chair for a while, staring down, with barely any expression if not one of apathy. He didn't feel apathy, but he portrayed it naturally as if to remain distant and seemingly uninterested. It wasn't long though before he knew he had to say something, lest he simply come to watch Asher walk away.
"I'm . . . glad you came," he said. He waved his hands to banish his courtiers from the room, stepping down from his higher seated position and walking up to Asher - the man he'd so wanted to see. "It has been a while. Enough of a while for me to become a world renowned conqueror, at least. I was always ambitious, huh?" The man smiled faintly, holding his arms together behind his back, fingers locked together. "They call me Shinsei Karnata now. But please don't. I'd like to just be Kleine to you. And you, Asher, to me." He felt hesitant, tense, somehow unable to function the way he used to - he was all . . . hands, just, mind being filtered and flooded with worries and expectations. It was ridiculous.
It was funny, because he had not been with Asher for long, and yet he recalled him as one of his fondest memories. He had deeply wanted to see him again, looming over the thought of finding him out in the distance for the past two years. Everything between them felt so unfinished. He felt like there could've been something more, even if it wasn't exactly his ideal.
"Would you consider... staying around for a while?"
It probably wasn't just the flame-bright color of his hair that was drawing so much attention. Everything about Lennox screamed that he definitely didn't belong here. This part of the city, so close to the palace, was packed full with nobles and wealthy men and women. The foreigner was carrying a back pack clearly full with all his worldly possessions which were meager at most. Gazes of curiosity and even a few 'holier than thou' looks were shot at the boy, but he barely even noticed. A grin the size of his face was plastered upon him, wonder and awe etched as his expression. "This place...it's magnificent!" The boy shouted, throwing his hands up into the air and turning in a slight circle. Konoha had been everything that Lennox could have hoped for. For years he had grown up hearing stories of the trees reaching so high into the air, the branches like fingers caressing the skies. The grass country certainly had a lot of...grass, but everything was so incredibly green and vibrant here. Lennox had paused about eighty three times merely to observe a plant he had never seen before or watch the people mill about and go through their daily motions. But he wanted to see more.
From just about anywhere in Bai Don, Lennox could see a massive building. That's where he wanted to go. Slowly he picked his way through the winding streets and eventually found himself waltzing right through some gates. And apparently that had been a mistake. Before he knew it hands were all over him and his face was meeting the ground rather roughly. Men had subdued him and were tearing off his backpack, shouting so loud that Nox couldn't even understand what was happening. He tried to get some words out but some sort of bag was put over his head. "Whoa! I swear I wasn't doing anyth-" Lennox grunted and groaned in pain when someone slammed a fist into his stomach. He decided then that it was probably a good idea to just be quiet for the journey. The men on either side of him were lifting him high enough to leave his feet merely dragging across the ground. The boy was trying to look through the weaving of the bag and get some sense of his direction. All he knew was how many turns they had taken. The sound of his assailant's footsteps changed once they reached a plush carpet, and then some idea hit Lennox. He was a shinobi for crying out loud, what the hell was he doing?
Lennox put the tiniest amount of focus into his chakra flow and called forth on the ninja magic. The energy flowed around his body and brought on a wondrous change. Within just a short span of time Lennox's body was turning to stone. First it spread from his chest outward until his arms were fully coated. At this point the boy leaned deeply forward and wrenched his arms free. He threw his weight backward as the stone transformation spread to his legs and neck, throwing one elbow to his left and smashing it into that guy's face. His other attacker's arm wrapped around his neck and Lennox felt the tip of a knife attempt to pierce him. "Not today!" With all his might Nox wrapped his fingers from both hands around the arm gripping his neck. He squeezed slightly and felt the bones give way, followed immediately by a scream of pain. Lennox bent forward at the waist and heaved the man over him. The ginger haired warrior slammed his opponent onto the ground and dropped to one knee, digging it straight into the man's diaphragm. He turned ready for a fight, but both of the guards were already out cold. Lennox let out a pent of breath and immediately went to their aid. Normal hands were placed over the guy who had his faced smashed with a stone elbow. A soft green glow later and the man's nose was set right back in place. Nox crawled over to the other guy as his skin rippled and returned to normal. A few moments later and he was right as rain. Lennox stood up and tried to beat a hasty retreat, but realized he was forgetting something. His bag had been thrown free at the start of the fight and all of his belongings were thrown free. There were a few sets of clothing, some food wrapped shoddily, a bit of generic ninja supplies and a journal he had been keeping. Nox began collecting his equipment but paused when he realized there was another guy standing in the room. His faced showed surprise and his next sentence was probably the least articulate he had ever been in his life. "I, oh, uh. N-no I wasn- I mean I didn- er..." Lennox turned a bright shade of red and wondered just how fast he could run.
xxxx𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓼𝓮𝓲 𝓴𝓪𝓻𝓷𝓪𝓽𝓪 There was a disturbance. As Asher fizzled away into unicorn world due to Shane's sureness that he wouldn't post here again, Shinsei Karnata stared at the entrance where a freckled ginger kid was swatting off some palace guards. He'd seen this guy before -- it was at the botanical gardens. Without any hesitation, the Shogun sent a bolt of energy forward, aimed at Lennox. It surrounded him, then expanded outward into an orb of psychic energy; it appeared as if a crystal ball, with only Lennox inside, slowly moving and unable to speak. He would hear sounds all around him, radiating. Pulses. Bated breath and beating hearts. He'd then see Shinsei stepping down from the stairs and pushing all others aside, walking into the sphere that seemed to exist in a different world from this one.
"Enemy," he called to his demon. "Why does this one come?" In his right hand, he held a large and embroidered blade; it was an executioner's, a sword to permit and enact justice. He smiled slightly at the young Chuunin, though his intentions were far from friendly. He was here to receive a verdict. Hunter, or prey? Did Lennox come here by accident or was he sent here for a higher purpose? Was this the sign of something dark transpiring?
"Prey," the demon purred into both their ears. "He did not mean to blight you with his footsteps. He is a fool, a suckling babe with not the skills of a shinobi but of one blind; deaf; dumb." The entity laughed, and the crystal ball began to turn jet black. The sounds silenced, the moment focusing on simply Shinsei and the boy. "I've seen you before," he said. "Still bearing the fiery hair, I see. You must enjoy being the scapegoat of every joke gone wrong." The Heiland rolled his eyes, and dispelled the reality-altering field around them. He turned around, beginning to walk back to where he was before; up the stairs, perhaps onto the throne.
"Lennox Shishigami, that's his name, you were wondering. The name bears meaning, somewhat. I'm fairly certain a relative of his somewhere killed a relative of yours -- poor little child. A girl of only twelve, and so talented. A psycho demon to rule them all. A wolf in sheep's clothing. She was incredibly lethal, and had caused thousands of deaths in Konoha alone. Her life came to an end as the legend of Kazuki began." The demon silenced itself, Shinsei not speaking. He could only hope the legend would not repeat with the cycle of generations; he was not to fall to the same dynasty.
"Will you be leaving now? I've resolved to sustain your existence. The same fate may not be foretold for my guards, who failed to subdue you. There should be no weakness in a center of strength."
There came a time in everyone's life where they faced a moment in which they believed they were about to die. Lennox had always believed that specific event would come later in his life, maybe after he had saved a damsel in distress and faced his greatest nemesis. Not when he was nineteen and on a journey to learn more of his grand father. The redheaded boy realized then just how far he had to go to even feel it was okay to call himself a Shishigami. As the bolt flew through the air at him Lennox closed his eyes and entered a state of calm. He shouldn't fear death, even if he felt it was coming fifty years earlier than he had hoped. The rush of wind from the force coming at him brought a gasp from his mouth. And then there was nothing. Just not the type of nothing Lennox had been expecting. "Uh." The confused boy opened one eye, peering out at the darkness surrounding him. He opened the other eye and gazed down at his hands. Why couldn't he move? Around him there were sounds, some ethereal and unsettling and one clear voice. Lennox strained his ears trying to catch the conversation. It was weird, almost like there was a single guy talking to himself. Lennox couldn't suppress his urge to shudder and was actually glad he momentarily couldn't move.
Just as suddenly as his mobility was taken the situation changed again. A man appeared and spoke to him. Further confusion was etched on his face when Shinsei spoke. "Oh, sorry. I don't recall ever meeting you..." Pleasant until the end, he was. Lennox, being a ginger of course, heard every joke in the book from all sorts of people. That wasn't an overly helpful hint as to who the hell he was dealing with. With the most disdain Nox had ever seen mustered in a single facial expression, Shinsei dispelled his hold over Lennox. The boy caught himself before he hit the ground and gathered his belongings, slowly rising to his feet. This guy was really quite the character. What fun was there in taunting someone whom you could so easily decimate?
Regardless of this guy's less than friendly demeanor Lennox wasn't about to let those guards just die. "Wait no!" He said, making as if to grab Shinsei by the arm. Before he could make contact Lennox retracted his hand, unsure if he still would have had it attached to his wrist had he gone through with that. So instead he let it fall to his side. "Those guy's got the jump on me. I'm sure they didn't even think I was someone who could fight back. Let them live, it was my mistake anyway. I...I only wanted to see this place." Lennox said, his words sounding almost pleading at the end. He would be a piss poor medic if he made it a habit to get people killed along his journey. Nox was ready to fight for these guys who just a moment ago were his enemies. The boy was determined despite the possibility that he was up against impossible odds. Hopefully his sincerity would be enough, if not...
xxxx𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓼𝓮𝓲 𝓴𝓪𝓻𝓷𝓪𝓽𝓪 Naive, isn't he? Oh yes. Naive indeed. They were some people that were kind and honorable, some that were destructive, soulless; incapable of feeling a shred of empathy. If Kleine was the latter, Lennox was the former. The thing about the former though was that it was often weak and easy to corrupt - after all, was that not how Kleine became the way he was today? Still, he didn't mind the presence of someone who was obviously not quite the villain. It was a break from his advisors.
"Sad," he replied. That was in response to Lennox not remembering him, which was of course tragic considering he believed himself so utterly easy to remember.
As for the fate of the guards, that was his prerogative. He could actively sense Lennox's chakra right now. It wasn't that much. The fact that his elite, the ones guarding this place, couldn't handle someone who was a Jounin at best . . ."Ugh, fine. I won't kill the guards. I'm definitely firing them though, sorry about that." He rolled his eyes. "You've seen this place now, yes? Why did you even want to see it in the first place? Just touring? Did you suspect that sneaking up on the royalty would win you cool points? More than likely it'd get you killed. If my guards fail, there's always an infallible backline, the strongest man in this country: me. You realize that when you spontaneously show up within a league of another shinobi, they're likely to react defensively, right?"
While Kendall himself hadn't been one of the guards he had seen all of what had transpired between the boy and the guards. He wasn't remarkable, wearing a suit and looking like a civillian. He watched Kleine decide what to do with the boy. Listened to the speech from near the entrance to Bai don with interest. He had a pipe going. Sure it wasn't the most healthy habit in the world, but it was simply molasses and tobacco. Nothing too harsh, not many chemicals. And it tasted good, so in moderation and with his healthy lifestyle he would be fine. Kendall put it away in an inside pocket to his blazer, clearing a bit of smoke from his face and dusting himself off. Kendall walked forth, slowly around the guards but directly towards Kleine and Lennox. He would laugh.
"And reacting defensively, at least in most cases, means that something less than pleasant is likely to Occur," Kendall said as he strolled past Lennox, his eyes locking onto the boys for just a second and then looking to Kleine with a puzzled squint. That he had chosen not to kill the guards was odd considering. He looked to the lot, then to the boy with a flash of pink in his eyes. Pitiful, all of them. Lennox's chakra was not in fact that large. The guards were no better than he in his eyes. "Quite the pitiable lot. I never cease to be amazed... or rather disappointed by the mass of soldiers in a military state. You would think palace guards, the swords and shields in defense of the Shogun, would easily handle a dull knife. However, I suppose that when a knife can both cut a man down and then fix him up, it's dullness becomes less a matter of importance, more intriguing is why a bandaid has the power to inflict a wound," He continued, commenting on the boy's healing. While Kendall held dominance over the field of medical jutsu, he could appreciate talent. He knealt and picked up a kunai, obviously one of the boys and held it in his hand for a second. He extended it to the boy and offered a smile devoid of any real emotion. "Kendall Weiss. Combat Medic, and advisor to the shogun." As he handed him the weapon he would nod approvingly to him and look over the guards a bit more with his eyes, listening to the other two as background noise and using diagnosis and his ability to see chakra in a combination to see their condition. Perks of his bloodline.

xxxx𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓼𝓮𝓲 𝓴𝓪𝓻𝓷𝓪𝓽𝓪 [ 震星 ] He didn't bother talking to Nobuyuki. In truth, that little man never mattered. The heart of the people was not attached to him, nor was their minds - nor did the aristocracy fear him, nor could they resist Shinsei's inevitably re-acquisition of the throne. He would be Shogun again, and for all time - the nation would be ruled by Undead generals such as Hoplite, the Contract, the Conspirator, the Pugilist, and the Heartseeker. The world would be ruled by the Kech Marah. The lands would be claimed by the combined force of the men and women of the far East and the Saigon. The Era of the new age would begin soon. And it was all on Shinsei's shoulders.
"I declare myself Shogun once more. The Karnata Dynasty deserves a ruler far more practiced than the child I temporarily left on the throne. The Hokage - too - shall be made aware of our new arrangements. The Kech Marah will be the official state coalition, with the target being the rest of the known world." He removed the draperies that lettered N, the "S" returning to the kingdom's banners. His return to rule was at hand.

Before his mission was entirely complete, Lucifer had one last thing he needed to do. After Itsuwari landed at the front of Bai Don, he would condense down to a size capable of resting around Lucifer's neck, taking this time to rest peacefully before his summoner would require his services once again. Walking through the halls of his 'summer home', if you would call it that, his mind began to wander. Going to see him wasn't exactly on his list of pleasurable activities, especially not in the middle of a crisis like this. The monster that slept within Kleine--the Enemy--was already a malicious creature. Put an international conflict in the middle of that, and those sinister gears of destruction and betrayal were probably turning at full speed. Definitely not a good time to be visiting the Shogun of Fire.
But alas, here he was. And with a single, pronounced rap with the tips of his knuckles, Lucifer announced his entrance into Shinsei's grand chambers. "Kleine...I have news from the most recent mission I underwent. The perpetrator responsible for attacking Mist, as well as the woman who laid siege to our own gates have perished. With a small squad to lead, myself and a small few other shinobi killed them after their most recent duel with Kaisen. Unfortunately, Kaisen was taken by Kya..." He paused for a brief moment, looking over the chamber and clearing his throat before continuing. In a strange way, he was almost excited to get to this part; the climax. "Adam and Victoria were both of the Guenire family, Kleine. From what I know of the family, they were members of the Research and Development team within the family's confines...and more likely than not, the reason why these silhouettes are rampaging the way they are." Lucifer would procure another scroll before pacing to his brother's desk, laying it across neatly.
"As you can see, our collected information on the silhouettes tells us that they seem to be...almost blank slates of chakra. The ones we faced at Shirota all assimilated some form of bloodline ability. Not only that...but the prisoners we rescued were all missing something from their person. One silhouette had the sharingan, while one prisoner no longer possessed his eyes. Upon what appeared to be complete destruction, these assets allowed them to regenerate from otherwise complete deconstruction to continue fighting." Not only were the Guenire involved, but their creations posed a very immediate threat to any shinobi in possession of a Kekkei Genkai. "Each silhouette seems to have a blueprint. Each hunts for a specific bloodline...until we find out what that requirement is--or at least, how we can determine what bloodlines they're hunting--these beings are just as spontaneous as they were the day we first discovered them. At this point, that's all the intel we've managed to gather on them." Lucifer looked once again into his brother's eyes, waiting strangely...hurriedly for his response.
