Allie smiled at his comment and went over to start eating. The following days in the penthouse were much the same, them eating and talking, watching shows. Allie also worked on her final papers for her classes. Rory was so much more relaxed when they just talked and joked like friends. It was easier that way, and they didn't talk about being married, or the wedding, or their parents or anything upsetting. This caused the time to be much more pleasant, especially when their clothes were brought to them. Two Weeks LaterAllie sighed as she snuggled into the warn couch, loving how comfortable it was. The past two weeks had been fairly decent. The idea that they were married was still odd, though they were adjusting to living together. They talked and shared meals, but they slept in separate rooms. Allie thought it was more appropriate for them that way. The past two weeks however once her finals had finished, she had started spending more time with Avery. They enjoyed their time together and the little dear kept asking for repeat visits. Rory's mother didn't have a problem sending their little daughter off with a "proper lady". They spent time together doing a great many interesting avtivities. Earlier today Avery had insisted that they go to visit Rory at work, the auto repair shop. He still worked there, Allie having told his mother they were trying to find a replacement for him, though they weren't actually doing that. Allie had spent a little whIle at the shop while Avery had visited with Rory, watching him tinker on cars covered in oil and grease. After that Allie had taken the little girl, trying to be patient with all her questions. As soon as she arrived at the condo she had changed into a pair of cotton shorts and a worn tank top, wanting to be comfortable while she read. It was a romance novel, her guilty little pleasure she didn't let anyone know about. As the pages turned she wondered what it would be like to be swept off her feet like in one of these novels, though she knew that it would never be that way with Rory.

►It had been a strange two weeks. Ever the bachelor, living with someone else was taking some getting used to. Living with Allie, even more so. She bought real food and cooked. He'd always lived off protein shakes and take-out leftovers. Just having her in house made it smell differently. It was something sweet he couldn't quite put his finger on. Vanilla or jasmine or something. There had been a few awkward moments. One night early on, he'd gotten up to get a midnight snack, not bothering to pull on his shorts. Little did he know, Allie was also fond of late night eating. It was impossible to tell who had blushed more. Rory had been kept his job. Allie had told his mother, the shop was keeping him on until they found a replacement. He'd been at work when Allie and Avery came to see him. The other guys at the shop had teased him relentlessly about meeting his new wife, but until then, he'd refused. As much as Rory liked the guys, but they could be real meatheads. So naturally when Allison in all her beauty arrived, Avery in tow, they hadn't been able to shut up about it. They asked her all kinds of questions like 'What's a nice girl like you doing with a chump like him?' or 'You think you're parents making you marry him is some kind of punishments' or 'You got any friends?' Fortunately, Allie didn't seem to mind. She took all the questions well, like a beauty pageant queen. Rory had kept the visit short, letting Avery tell him about what they had done that day before rushing them off. More and more. Avery had been asking to spend time with Allie. They did everything together these days. Avery loved paddle-boarding and was getting pretty good at it too. This didn't stop a twinge of jealousy from flaring up in gut every time they went off, leaving him home by himself. He wasn't used to sharing Avery's attention. But it was hard to say no when she was so clearly enjoying herself. Allie was wonderful with her, seemed to genuinely like the kid. In addition to navigating life with a 'roommate' and sharing his sister's attention, Rory had been negotiating with his mother . it was a battle worse than the wedding. He agreed to enroll in the master's program in the fall only if he got scheduled time with Avery. Debra had eventually bent, agreeing to Wednesday afternoons and every other weekend. She'd tried to convince him to let her send Avery to finishing school anyway, but that conversation had not ended well. Now, Debra was pushing to enroll Avery in a private school here in the city. And this is what Rory was thinking about when he came home. He tossed his keys on the kitchen counter and called, "Honey, I'm home." He'd used the joke a hundred times in the last two weeks but that didn't seem to lessen it's hilariousness. But today the joke felt stale in his mouth. He used his anger to scrub his hands clean in the sink. Of course his mother would want to send Avery away. It was easier to sneak men in and out of the house when you didn't have an eight year old wandering around. He stalked into the living room, intending to simmer in his bedroom, but momentum was stopped short as soon as he passed through the doorway. Allison was sitting on the couch with a book, her long legs pulled close to her chest. Her hair cascaded in brown waves down her back and soft smile played at the edges of her lips. She was beautiful, strikingly beautiful. But not in the way a lot of girls were. He'd found beauty of his ex's to be a distant, untouchable sort of beauty. It was the kind that made you sit up straighter, wonder about your own appearance. Allie was different. She was warm and reachable, the kind of beautiful that made everything around her brighter. The kind of beautiful that made smart men make bad decisions. His anger at his mother was clouding his better judgement, so he made an impulsive decision. Allison was beautiful and he wanted to kiss her so he was going to. '******** it.' Taking the 5 strides necessary to get to the couch, Rory grabbed Allie by the wrists and pulled her to her feet. With one hand, he took the book.. He wrapped the other around her and he kissed her hard. Her lips were softer than he had been expecting. Discarding the book to the floor, his other hand came to rest on the back of her neck, deepening the kiss. ◄ Anything you say can and will be held against you So only say my name It will be held against y o u

Allie was in grossed in her book, not even noticing the turning of pages as she read. In the distance of her mind she heard Rory call out his usual greeting, which meant she should put her book down and greet him, then start on supper, as a proper wife should. ' But you're close to the end,' she told herself. The end of this particularly juicy chapter anyway. Another moment of reading wouldn't hurt anything, and she would hardly think Rory to mind. The usual routine he wouldn't have been back out of the bedroom until he showered and changed, and by that time she already had the remote by his favorite spot in the living room, along with a bottle of water. She had at least another few minutes. It wasn't that she wanted to be his lapdog, but he worked hard, and seemed to be physically beat when he came home. Shouldn't a proper wife, even a forced one, try and make their husband, even a forced one, more comfortable? It was worth a shot anyway. Allie tipped her head to the side, thinking she heard him swear. She would have to mention that to him again, she thought with an internal sign. Just about to turn the page when he snatched her up onto her feet. Allie's eyes snapped to him, blinking as she tried to focus on what was happening. Suddenly the book was gone from her hands, and his lips found hers, his hands pulling her and holding her close. Allie gasped into the kiss, her arms going around his neck for support, her fingers sliding into the short cropped hair at the nape of his neck. This kiss was so perfect, and a million times better than she had played it out in her head. Her stupid daydreams, she realized, had been childs play compared to what she was a part of at this moment, and she found she liked it. Allie had never been a part of a kiss like this before. Everything in the background went away, she wasn't aware of time, or noise, or anything. This kiss was overwhelming and complete. The seldom few kisses she had gotten before had never been like this. They had all been proper and polite, but then again, had she ever believed he would be proper in anything? No. One arm moved down, her hand fisting his shirt in her hand.

►To his surprise, she was kissing him back. The more rational part of his brain had expected her to shove him off. But she put an arm around him, running those perfectly manicured hands into his hair and throwing gasoline on the fire. He pulled her flush against his body and let his hand trail up under her shirt. His lips were greedy, hungry, and desperate. He trailed a line of kissed along her cheekbone. Nothing was enough or too much. Rory broke the kiss just long enough to pull her shirt up and off. It too was dropped to the floor. Miles of unmarred, warm skin greeted him. Like the rest of his personality, Rory kissed with a desperate sort of passion. It was all or nothing with him. There was nothing careful or soft in the way his hands explored her exposed flesh. He allowed no distance between their bodies, clinging to what he wanted. It took only one step forward for the pair to fall onto the couch. Rory took Allison by the hips, moving her until she was completely on the couch. And then he kissed her again, leaning on one elbow to support himself and continuing his exploration of the wonders of Allison's body with the other. When each curve and bend of her uncovered skin had been explored, Rory allowed his hand to slip between her skin and her pants. ◄ Anything you say can and will be held against you So only say my name It will be held against y o u

Just when she thought the kiss couldn't have gotten any better, he molded his body to hers. The sensation sent tingles all over her body, her toes curling into the carpet, her heels pushing up off the floor to try and get more of the wonderfully maddening sensation. When her shirt came off she had a pang of shyness, though only for a moment before she tumbled onto the couch in his strong arms. Suddenly she was tugging and pulling at his shirt, wanting the full warmth and feeling of his skin against her own. There was no telling why, but finally, she managed to toss the shirt to the side, her hands needing and pulling, rubbing his skin. As he explored her torso she occasionally let out a soft little sign of approval, or a hitch in her breathing, when he had touched or caressed her in a way she enjoyed more than others. It was like he was making a roadmap, claiming her skin, her features as his, untouchable by any other man. When his hand slipped onto her hip she couldn't even think about the dirty little secret he might find there. The one thing that marked her flesh, and kept her from being the proper little lady. If she had been thinking clearly she would have told him to stop so she could explain, but there was no thiught. There wasn't anything. There was nothing in this moment besides the two of them. Two bodies pressed together and exploring each other in a way they never had before. The sensation of his hand on her hip was a new one, uncharted territory, then again, all of this was. No man had ever touched her the way he was now, it wouldn't have been proper, she would have never allowed it. So why was she allowing it now? Because they were married? In the legal sense they were, but they hardly knew one another, what did that mean for them, nothing really when it came to marriage. They were trying to get to know one another as they went along. Instead of worrying about everything that could possibly ruin the moment she pulled his head closer, wanting to kiss him deeper at that moment.

►Eventually, his shirt disappeared (had he taken it off or did she?) her soft skin was pressed against his. Allie's deft hands caressed and kneaded his body. Her soft sighing, the air from her lips hot against his skin, sent an involuntary shudder of pleasure down Rory's spine. God, he wanted her. Why had he not done this earlier? He knew there was a reason, but his mind was too occupied to produce it. The heat of her lips, the scent of her skin, the caress of her hand set all thought from his mind. His access to the skin under her jeans was limited while she was still wearing the jeans, so he decided to rectify that. Leaning out of the kiss just far enough to see, Rory unbuttoned her shorts and began pushing them down. But something caught his eye, an inconsistency in the skin around her hipbone. "Is that a tattoo?" He asked with a small laugh. Rory pushed himself back onto his heels to get a better view of it. Yes, it was a tattoo; a small owl looked back at him from her skin. "You have a tattoo?" He looked down at her, smirking. ◄ Anything you say can and will be held against you So only say my name It will be held against y o u

Allison rest her head back on the couch as he pulled away, every so much just to be out of reach of her lips. Her eyes were hazy with passion, and her mind fogged with pleasure, so his comment hadn't made sense at first. When it finally managed to make it's way through her fogged mind, her face flushed more and her eyes widened. " Well.. I- What I mean to say is that... um.." Not sure if it was the pleasure still clocking her thought process or the embarrassment of him finding out about it. No one else on this planet knew about that tattoo, well, except of course the artist who had done it. Finally the words came to her, coming freely as she explained her rebellious moment. " I... well I wanted.. I wanted to prove my body was mind." she whispered, her eyes giving him all kinds of shy expressions. "What I mean is.. I always felt like.. like a prized mare on display for everyone... everyone looking and wanting a ride.. None of them being allowed.. so I got this one week when my parents were out of town." Unsure of what to do now she reached up and touched his chest, when she realized what she was doing she let her hands drop back down. " It doesn't... bother you does it?" she asked, unsure of why he was so amazed. More than likely because he thought she was a little prim princess that never did anything her parents told her not to do. Suddenly she was aware of the cool air of the condo caressing her skin and her blush deepened when she realized she was topless around him. When on earth had that happened? God, his kiss had made her lose complete control and composure. Reaching down with one arm she started to search the floor for her tank top, achingly aware of every slight movement her chest made during her search.

►Watching her fluster was both hilarious and adorable. So the prom queen wasn't so perfect after all. He left a finger trace the shape while she explained it. It was probably the best explanation for a tattoo he'd ever heard. He looked up at her when her hand caressed his chest. Rory shook his head. "It's your body. Do what you want. Besides," He drew his thumb of the heart on his wrist. "You're not the only one with ink." When Allie reached for shirt, the weight of the real world descended fast, hitting him with the force of a freight train. He was sitting, half dressed, on top of his roommate/wife, mostly undressed. With great speed but little care, Rory was off of the couch (and subsequently her). 'The reason,' He thought, collecting his shirt, "is she's my wife.' He cursed under his breath, face bright red, and collected his shirt. When he stood back up, his eyes accidentally met with hers. He stumbled for something, anything, to say. "Shower." Was the only thing that came, accompanied with an awkward gesture in the vague direction of his room. With that, he turned and walked as quickly as he could and still have it be called walking to his room. Rory closed the door behind himself and threw the shirt in frustration. He cursed himself and his bad decision making. He'd almost slept with her. He would have slept with her if he hadn't found that tattoo and realized what he was doing. As strange as it sounded, Rory could not sleep with Allison because she was his wife. They had to make this relationship work for the foreseeable future. Complicating the relationship with sex would just make it that much harder. The stream of muttered curses still flowing, he got undressed and climbed in the shower. He tried to wash away everything; the oil, the dirt, but most of all her. Rory tried to forget the trail of fire her fingers left on his skin. He tried to forget her lips against his, her skin warm and soft beneath his. Rory was bad at forgetting.◄ Anything you say can and will be held against you So only say my name It will be held against y o u

Allison looked at him, watched as he bounded off her. This was just getting worse by the second. When he fumbled for something to say and just took off towards his room, her face reddened more and she quickly pulled her tank top back on. How on earth had that happened? She had allowed him to just do whatever he wanted, and take privileges that she wouldn't have let anyone take. So why had she let him? It certainly wasn't because he was her husband, in name only. There was something else shimmering there that she didn't quite understand. She respected him, because of how hard he worked, and how much he fought for little Avery. Respect wouldn't have let him do that though. Perhaps there wasn't a reason at all, maybe it was just because he had kissed her and made her feel something she never had before. That kiss wasn't the kind she was used to, the other handful of times she had been kissed. They had all been little soft brushes of their lips against hers, nothing so primitive and demanding. Allie rubbed her face and stood, discarding the book that was still on the floor, having forgotten about it. When she got over to the kitchen she grabbed a clean pot and happened to catch her reflection in it. She looked, not a mess but, there must be a word for it. Her lips were swollen and rosy from his kisses, her hair mussed. Suddenly the words came to mind, well loved, or pleasured as the case may be. Trying to concentrate on anything, she found she couldn't. Her mind was a mumbled mess. Heaven only knew she couldn't let Rory figure out she had this kind of reaction to him, else he would do it every time they had a disagreement, making her lose her train of thought and focus. Putting the pan back she realized there would be no way she could cook right now. In her current state she would probably burn the place down. Turning she opened a drawer and grabbed the menus for take out. A half smile came to her lips as she flipped through them, thinking about how funny she thought it was to find them when she first moved in. Ever the man, not able to cook for himself. Finally finding something that sounded good she glanced to his door, wondering what he wanted. This menu looked well used however, so she decided to take a chance. Dialing her phone she sat there and waited for an answer. She ordered her food and then took a breath. " Yes Rory.. does he have a usual.. Oh he does? Perfect.. yes I would like an order of that as well. Yes thank you.. how much? Okay.. nope that's fine. Half hour? Alright thank you." Hanging up the phone she went back to the living room, tripping over her book. She picked it up and put it haphazardly on the coffee table and then set the remote by his favorite spot, not sure if he would come back out. Then she sat and waited for the food, her mind replaying the scene over and over again.

►The water was cold when Rory got out. He'd just stood there, hands pressed again the wall under the shower, head bowed. That could never happen again. Ever. Allie might want to make this marriage work, but Rory didn't. His mother was not going to dictate who he was with and Allison shouldn't allow her parents to either. Alli had to come around eventually when she realized they were never going to work. She'd get a boyfriend and life would continue on just as it had before. There'd be changes, of course. He'd have a roommate for the rest of his life, but that could be dealt with. Resolved, he turned the shower off and stepped out. He dried himself off and wrapped the towel around his waist before walking back into his room. He pulled on a pair of tan cargo shirts and a white tee-shirt, but didn't leave his room immediately. Despite his determination, Rory didn't exactly want to see Allie right now. He didn't want to talk about. He didn't want to acknowledge it had happened at all. He just wanted to pretend it had never happened. But would Allie want that? Eventually, he heard a knock on the door. Allie's voice and another's were heard muffled through his door. Who would be coming over? Deciding this was as good of an excuse as any other, Rory took a deep breath and walked back out to the living room. Allie was just closing the door behind a delivery man, a bag of food in one hand. The smile she'd sent the delivery man off with faltered ever so slightly when she saw him. She was still wearing the tank top and shorts ('of course she was. Why would she change?') and the memory was so fresh in his mind, words failed him. Needing to fill the moment of silence, Rory indicated the delivery, "Is that Tray Thai?"◄ Anything you say can and will be held against you So only say my name It will be held against y o u

Allie stood, grabbing the cash out of her wallet when she heard the knock on the door, who else would it be besides the delivery man? Opening the door she smiled, handed him the cash for the food and his tip and then took the bag from him, happy to have some food in hand, as she closed the door. When she turned and saw Rory, she stood there frozen, like a deer in the headlights. Would he want to talk about it? Would he want to pretend it never happened? When he broke the silence she nodded slowly, and then more vigorously. " It was the most used menu.. so I thought it would be safe to say you had a usual.. I got that." she said. " You can go ahead and um... I'm just going to.. get some plates." she managed. She hurried to the kitchen, setting everything out on the counted and grabbing some plates. She put her food on a plate and then assumed what was left was his. She put what she could fit onto his plate and then moved over to the small round table and set the plates down. Heading back to the kitchen she grabbed their utensils and then grabbed a glass of water for herself and him. He always changed what he wanted, so she had just gotten into the habit of starting him off with a water. That being set she sat down and kept her eyes trained on her plate. How was she supposed to talk to him now? How was she supposed to even looked at him? He had seen so much of her, and then he had just left, and quickly. Had she possibly done something wrong? Or maybe he hadn't liked what he had seen. All these thoughts started to swirl through her head as she pushed her food around. What did it matter if he didn't like how she looked anyway? He was determined not to make this work anyway? So what did it matter if his kisses sent her head spinning and her heart pounding?

►He nodded, racking his brain for more words. She breezed pass him and into the kitchen, where she began plating the dinner. That had never made sense to him. The food came in containers already. Why would you make yourself more work by dirty dishes? And she always made dinner. 'She is determined to play house.' He thought. Why was she so determined to be a 'good wife' for him? God knows he wasn't a good husband. Rory, acting as casual as he could, walked into the living room. It seemed, at least for now, that ignoring the incident was going to work. How did he act normally? He couldn't seem to remember. When dinner was on the table, Rory grabbed himself a beer from the fridge and then joined Allie at the table. She was studying her plate with determined eyes. 'Ignoring.' He confirmed. "So," He began. "How was Avery today? She said you two went paddle boarding again." Casual. That was casual. He'd asked her about Avery before. ~Time Skip: A Few Days Later~ Riordan hummed along to 'Dazed and Confused' and while he worked underneath a '98 Chrysler van. The soccer mom had to have the van towed to the shop after the engine started smoking. Her antifreeze had contaminated the engine oil so he needed to flush the system, fix the leak, and then add new oil. He wasn't sure how long he'd been under there. Maybe an hour or so. He'd been spending more time at work the past couple of days. Not being at home was easier. Allie hadn't mentioned what had happened and neither had he, but the awkward tension wasn't completely gone yet. "Riordan Michaels." A female voice from above said. Rory furrowed his eyebrows and pushed himself out, cart and all, from beneath the car. Standing above him was a beautiful girl, in jean shorts, a white crop top, and a leather jacket. "Kendall?" He said pulling himself to his feet. "What are you doing here?" "Is that any way to greet an old friend?" Kendall replied with a smile. "No," He responded, grabbing a oil rag and whipping his hands. "But it is a pretty common way to greet an ex-girlfriend." He and Kendall had dated for about a year, but had broken up almost six months ago when Rory caught Kendall screwing on of his friends. "I just thought I'd drop by the shop. Say hello. See what was new with you." She replied, leaning against the car. Chatting it up with his cheating ex wasn't exactly appealing to Rory, but he didn't want to cause a scene at his work and Kendall was great at causing scenes. So he shrugged, leaned his back against the van. "Nothing's really new." "Nothing?" She echoed, pushing of the car and moving to stand in front of him. "Come on, Rory. Everyone's talking about it." "About what?" She laughed. "Your marriage. You're telling me that the marriage of California's most eligible bachelor is not note-worthy?" He ran a hand through his hair, streaking it with oil. "Not much of a marriage. Debra made me." "You're mom made you?" Kendall scoffed. "Yeah," He nodded. "Didn't really get much say in it." Kendall paused a moment, letting her eyes wander around the shop before looking back at him. "Is she hot?" Rory rolled his eyes and made to move away, but Kendall pushed him back against the car. "Why does it matter?" "Because I want to know if Mrs. Riordan Michaels is hot." "You want to know if she's hotter than you." Rory responded. Kendall laughed but she didn't say no. She let a hand trail down her hip to thigh, drawing Rory's eye for just a moment. Just to irritate her, he said. "Yeah. Allie's damn hot. Just ask any of the guys." Kendall gasped, still smiling, and shoved him again, half playfully, half not. "Shut up. You're just saying that to make me jealous." "Hey, you asked." He put his arms up in mock surrender, laughing. The ex bit her bottom lip sensually and took a step closer. "Is she a better kisser?" ◄ Anything you say can and will be held against you So only say my name It will be held against y o u

Cleaning off the counter from this morning's breakfast Allie pushed her hair back. She had all her bags ready. The day was nice and there wasn't a high wind so she was going to go out on her board. It was a fun activity, but she needed to go to the library first. Allie never liked to leave the house dirty when she was about to leave. She wasn't dressed as properly as she normally was. She had her bathing suit on already, and her jean shorts on over top of it, a tank top slipped on over the top half of her one piece bathing suit. Allie was just about to head out of the kitchen when she realized Rory had forgotten his lunch box. He had been putting in longer hours the past few days, so more than likely he would want that. Grabbing her phone she looked up directions to the shop. Lucky enough, it was right on her way to the library. Smiling she slipped on her flipflops and then grabbed her bags and keys, as well as his lunch box. Hopping into her little truck she drove down to the shop, glad that she had managed to get there with no problems. Last time she had come from the opposite direction, and she wasn't very good when doing things opposite. Humming along to the radio she closed the truck door, lunch box in hand as she walked up to the garage opening. She noticed it was fairly cleared out, must all be busy doing something in the office or whereabouts. Allie calmly walked through the garage, hoping no one saw her in s sloppy state of appearance, it was different at the library, but here, these were people she would probably see again. Walking in and around the corner she stopped dead when she noticed a woman pressed up against Rory. Allie couldn't make out what they were saying with all the traffic going by from the main road, but she could see Rory was laughing. Stunned she couldn't look away, her feet seemed to be cemented to the floor, but she didn't want to see what she was seeing. It felt like a stab to her heart, and she didn't know why. It wasn't like he had made any promise of liking her. He had been the one to say they should just go on like they had been. That must mean for him to just continue on with whatever woman he was with before they married. Allie was fairly certain that he couldn't see her though, being mostly obstructed by another large piece of machinery.

►"Kendall..." His voice was wary. Kendall was undeniably attractive and very much his speed. She was rough around the edges, adventurous, spontaneous, and rebellious, all of which suited Rory well. It was the cheating he didn't like so much. They hadn't spoken since the break up (which had been a catastrophe. The cops had been called) "I-" But she put a finger on his lips, stopping him. Slowly, Kendall leaned in, her body making more contact with his as she did. She moved her finger just before their lips touched. Her lips were cool and smelled of cherries. Her hand slipped around his neck, the other pressed to his chest. At first, Rory didn't pull away. A part of him wanted to put his arms around her, kiss her back. For all her crazy, Kendall was uncomplicated. And hey, he was messed up too. But, after a moment, he put his hands on her shoulders, gently pushing back. "You have to go." Kendall cocked her head, obviously not happy. "What?" "This isn't going to work and you know it." "Since when has 'making it work' mattered to you?" She responded. "You ******** cheated on me." Rory spat, releasing her sharply. She groaned. "You are not still mad about that." "You slept with my friend. In my bed." Rory replied. "Yeah I'm still pissed." Kendall rolled her eyes. "It was just sex." Rory shook his head, "Get ******** talk to me!" Kendall responded. "Why won't you talk to me?" Rory grabbed Kendall by the forearm and began walking her to the open garage door. "Hey! Let go!" She struggled against him. But Rory didn't release her until they were back on the street. "You know what? ******** you, Riordan." Kendall cried. "******** you and your new ******** wife." Rory just shook his head, face pulled back in disgust. "You know what else?" "Leave!" Rory pointed at her car. But Kendall just kept talking. "Kyle is way better in bed anyway." Rory was fuming. <******** leave!" The girl let out a venomous laugh, climbed in her car, flipped him off, then drove away. ◄ Anything you say can and will be held against you So only say my name It will be held against y o u

Allie stood there, like a statue watching them, unsure why she kept looking. Perhaps part of her heart hoped and prayed that he would just push her away, but he wasn't, and didn't seem like he was going to. When this woman leaned against him and kissed him, Allie finally tore her eyes away. Maybe that's what she needed to see. That's what she needed to realize he wasn't ever going to even try with her. Quietly she placed his lunch box on an open shelf, not caring anymore if he got it, then she turned quickly and left, her heart pounding and hoping that she didn't start crying? Why would she cry anyway? It was stupid of her to ever think he would accept this, that any man would accept this. Getting into her little green truck she quickly drove away, wanting to get as far away as possible. Without even realizing what she was doing, she drove to the beach. Getting out, she walked around and then found a nice place to sit that wasn't crowded. Looking out at the crashing waves she thought about everything that had happened, trying to figure out why he was so against this, but more importantly why she was so accepting of it. After a while of thinking, the truth settled into her mind. Allie had never had a choice, not even as a child. She had always been a pawn for her parents to use when it suited them, so in the back of her mind, she always knew she would be forced to marry someone she didn't want. Someone she didn't love. Once her thinking was over, she found herself more calm, though still upset by what she had seen. Next time she would let his little lunch sit right on the counter. With a heavy sigh she stood and brushed off the excess sand before going back up to her truck and getting inside, heading back to the condo. If he wanted to go on like he had before, that wasn't her business. She would keep her word because it was the only thing she had. Once home Allie showered and changed into some more comfortable clothes, a simple tank top and some yoga pants. They were comfortable, and why try and look cute anyway? Wrapping a blanket around herself she sat on the couch and flicked through the channels, not sure what to watch. Allie normally didn't watch TV, finding books and articles much more interesting. In the end she spent the rest of the afternoon channel surfing, the TV as restless as her mind, staying on a channel for a few minutes before moving on to another.
