"We won't need months to finish this rebellion." Adrian began as he turned back to Amelia. "Only a few more days. To the men and women in this revolution, finding my father is the second priority. They are not going to stop and wait to find him they are going to go forward with the plan we have. As for why I went into the field, I went because I wanted to. You may have know about my father and I wasn't going to chance you dying until I knew what you did." Adrian stepped towards Amelia slower than he intended which may have given off a slightly hostile tone. "But as your display in the sewers proved, you know nothing, and progressively less by the hour. "

Amelia Cross She looked back up at him as he spoke about finishing the rebellion in a few days. She took a half step back from him, but managed to keep her tone steady. “It is you who doesn't know. What is your plan? Infect Sybil with a virus? Go in guns blazing while Sybil is down and take out the government? If that is your plan it won't work and Sybil will kill everyone. I may not know where they took your father, but I know a lot about Sybil.” More than she wanted to at this point. She spoke more like Sybil was a person rather than a computer program.

"You sound like one of them. So sure the system can't be beaten. But it can, we have run enough tests." Adrian explained before snapping his fingers. When he did the map of the city below them zoomed into one specific place. The new White House. A tower from which the President watched over those whom his system controlled. The tower was about as tall at Adrian in it's holographic glory, but it was much larger. Large enough that you could see the edges of the city from the top floor. They had run checks on the security around the tower as well. It was commonly believed that the President lived on the top floor and that theory was supported by the advanced anti-aircraft measures around the building. They had once tried to hit it with a jet but it had been shot down a mile out. Adrian turned to examine the building as he had done many times before. The holograph wouldn't provide anything but a layout of the building but he still examined it every day. It was a habit that he hated. "Every attack on the system this far, has been from one of us. We hit it, record the data and hit it again. It has cost us a fair amount of people though. It will be worth it though. Each attack has allowed us to gather some of the data on how the system fixes and protects itself. We have adapted a virus to bypass it. The virus will take it down for a day or two. Long enough for people to remember what it was like to have free will. Long enough for them to learn to hate the system. " Adrian paused and the hologram shut off completely. "Our plan is to detonate an electromagnetic pulse at the heart of the city, shut off the machines. The system will survive but that's not the point. The pulse will clear a little path for us to attack the president. With him dead, no one will know who to look to when the system goes offline. they will be forced to make their own choices again."

Amelia Cross “It doesn't matter if you have ran a million tests.” She answered angrily. “Sybil isn't just a computer...It's something else.” She sighed. “Look, I know how this is going to sound, but I am not crazy and you need to trust me. Sybil is the President. That thing isn't a human, it's an empty shell that looks like a human. A body that Sybil controls and no one can tell because it is so much more advanced than any piece of technology anyone has seen. It can behave like a human, adjust, evolve, learn and even predict what we are going to do. Who knows when we last had a human President? I don't know exactly what Sybil is, who built it or why, but I do know what I saw in the basement of that building.”

"Explain that episode in the sewers then. Your sanity is definitely in question and given that you are the only one who can explain what happened in the basement of that building, the rebellion is not inclined to believe anything you have to say." Adrian explained as he turned to face the glass wall overlooking the hangar. "In three days we set off the EMP. With the machines down we will assault the Presidential Tower. So unless you have anything constructive to say I would advise you go down the hall to the medical wing." Adrian may have seemed stubborn but she had to see it from his point of view. His entire life bad built up to this moment, this plan. They had lost nearly a hundred people to formulate this one attack. Adrian had likely just lost his father for this attack. He wanted, he needed this to end, one way or another.

Amelia Cross She closed her eyes and took a deep breath as he brought up the sewers. “I know how that looked. They did...things to me.” Things they were probably doing doing to his father right now. “But this was before they caught me. Before the...well before.” She couldn't quite bring herself to say hallucination. To admit they might have been a lot closer to breaking her than she had thought. Obviously he wasn't going to believe her and whatever evidence she had gotten at the time had been taken when they had taken her. She had to at least try though. “At least go look before you send everyone to get killed. There must be other spies who work there. Besides, if they have any idea how important your father is and what he knows, he is likely somewhere within that building.” It was after all the most secure building the government had and after catching her they were probably on higher alert than ever before.

"And how do you propose I do that? Do you think I can just waltz into the Tower and have a look around? We don't have any other spies, we have been pulling them out for months. The only two spies left were you and... Seth... but he went silent about the same time you were captured." Adrain clapped and the hologram of the Tower appeared behind him. He turned to face it. There were at least one hundred floors, a lot of space to clear. The EMP would buy them ten maybe twenty minutes to take the building down. They weren't hoping to find anyone they knew inside. "What would I find looking now, that I wouldn't find if I stormed the building with the intent to destroy it?"

Amelia Cross Well at least he was willing to discuss it instead of throwing her out of the room, but the news of them having no other spies on the inside definitely threw a wrench into her plan. ”If you have no one left on the inside you can't.” She said with a defeated tone. It would be a suicide mission at best for the spy who went, but at least they would probably make it down to the basement. They could take pictures and send them to the rebellion before they were taken. To try and infiltrate from the outside, they would be lucky to make it passed the front door under Sybil's all seeing eyes. “Look. If you go forward with this it is going to end badly, but....” She reached towards the hologram, flinching as the motion caused a sharp pain in her side before doing so again more carefully, pointing to the bottom level. “Your map ends here, but it isn't right. There is another twenty levels below that. That is where my proof is, but it is also probably where your father is. They will also probably kill him if you storm the building so if you do have a way inside I suggest you use it.” Invisible floors in an impossible to breach building, in the opposite direction of his goal, where his father might be. She was sure that was winning her a lot of points.

"We don't have any way inside other than storming the building." Adrian said as if explaining something to a child. "That is what I have been telling you. No spies, no agents. We have no way in aside from the assault." Adrian waved his hand and the hologram shut off. Invisible floors didn't matter. Twenty levels would be easy to send people to search during the assault but the assault would still need to happen to get that far. They couldn't touch the building otherwise. Well not unless they handed Adrian over to the system at which point he would absolutely vanish and they would hear nothing from him ever again.

Amelia Cross “I understand that.” Amelia let out an exasperated sigh. She was out of idea's and had no way to convince him of what she was telling him. Not that she could exactly blame him for not believing her. They had just met, she had probably killed his father and she had no proof along with the whole hallucination issue. She probably wouldn't believe her either. “I'll be in the medical ward if you need me.” Maybe she would be able to think of a way to convince him if she didn't have the pain in her side distracting her. She gave him one last glance before exiting the room.

Adrian stood silently until she left the room. The moment she was gone he took out his phone and called the quartermaster. "Change of plans, prep the EMP, bomb, and the tanks but don't send them out. I will lead a scouting part before the strike. Give me one hour and then launch the attack." The invasion was still two days out but Amelia had given Adrian at least a little reason to doubt. Just enough to make him curious. If he didn't trust his father's spies, what was the point of sending them out into the field. He could lead a small team into the building. Sybil would know, and that would cause problems, but it was the only chance of figuring out what was in the building. With the larger attack following them they would theoretically be saved. "Prep a portable version of the virus and have it sent to me then build another one using the same framework." With his orders given Adrian sat down on the empty floor of his office to build another plan. He was smarter that the system. He had to be.

Amelia Cross Amelia woke with a start, heart racing, breath in short panicked bursts and covered in sweat. The nightmares she had predicted of course plagued her sleep, but they seemed relatively minor to the larger issue of the hallucinations. She glanced at the clock before laying back down and taking several deep breaths to trying and slow her heart. It was an hour before she needed to be up so there was no point in going back to sleep. She had spent the last two days doing her best to ignore the monsters that seemed to appear with warning or reason. At first she thought if she avoided the dark they would stay away, but a few had appeared in the middle of the day in the presences of others. Despite knowing they weren't real it was hard to ignore a grotesque monster running at you with a sledgehammer. She had flinched at the last second, raising her arm to block the invisible blow, earning herself concerned looks and whispers behind her back. Still Adrian had agreed, well decided, to send an advanced team into the Tower to see what she was talking about. It wasn't optimal, but if she could get him down there fast enough and show him, maybe he could call off the main assault before it was too late for the others. It was better than nothing and she figured if she continued to press him about the matter nothing was exactly what she was going to get. With a groan she rolled over and got up. Her left side was still tender, but it was much better than it had been only a couple of days ago. Simple things like breathing or walking no longer caused her pain though there was defiantly a tightness to it. Still she managed to finish getting ready without seeing any monsters so that had to be a positive sign. Maybe she could make it through their trip to the Tower. With a deep breath she left the room to go find Adrian.

Adrian was out in the hangar speaking with the small team he had chosen to lead into the tower. He was wearing black cargo pants, combat boots, and a black combat shirt as were most of the men. The outfit was easy to move in and dark but that really served no purpose other than to make them feel safer. The machines didn't need light to find them and they all knew it. The last two days had been stressful. Adrian had been forced to make many choices he didn't want to and in the end pulled every agent they could contact back into the base. The strike was only three hours away and the scouting party would be heading out soon. They needed to distance themselves from the base and make sure they couldn't be tracked back to it before approaching the tower.
Adrian had a pistol strapped to one thy and his baton strapped to the other while he held a rifle in his hands. It would seem odd because he wasn't fond of guns but they were necessary for the attack and he had the training to use them. When Amelia reached the hangar Adrain turned to look at her and acknowledge her presence but as soon as he had he turned back to his group. "Alright, we'll enter the Tower on foot and shoot through what we need to in order to reach the lower levels. Run a quick search of each floor and then get out of the building so the strike team can do there jobs. If everything goes well the next time I am giving you boys a speech we will be in the world again."

Amelia Cross Amelia stood with her arms crossed as Adrian spoke to the others with a small smile across her lips. It sounded good, it really did, being in the world again. Even living at their base at been rather enjoyable despite her other issues. Even the mundane things like choosing what to eat and how much with no computer her to tell her what to do were exciting. The people living under Sybil's rule weren't really living. In fact they were more like robots than it was, doing whatever the computer told them to do. The others cheered and the idea of liberation was infectious, it really was. Even if it proved her wrong she truly wanted the attack to be successful. As the others went to grab any last minute item's and get to the vehicle Amelia approached Adrian instead. “Let me guess. Show you were you need to go and stay out of the way? Do I at least get a gun?” She could understand him not wanting to give her one under the circumstances, but they were ending into a battle and it would be nice not to be completely defenseless.

"You are the largest risk in this mission. If I give you a gun you would probably hallucinate and shoot one of us." Adrian said it without even looking at her but then he fell silent for a moment and turned to face Amelia. He let out a low sigh and unhooked the baton from his leg before handing it to Amelia. "You can, however, have this. It's not a gun but a couple of mad whacks should repel most things." Adrian paused and smiled slightly. "Plus we can survive that." It was almost instantaneous as Adrian's hand fell do his side and his smile faded. He turned back to one of the men in the group "Greg, go get me a machete please, and thank you." Greg rolled his eyes slightly and jogged off in the direction of the armory. "How are your ribs Amelia?" The Director asked as he turned his attention back to the mad one.
