Hemlock & Co. gather wood

Lady Luck was not with her this fine trip. Silhouette thought she saw promise in this next large log as the glen was practically overfilling with them. Alas, she was too petite for such an endeavor.

A turn of fortune for she eventually found a large piece of kindling she could bring back in the form of a big leafy branch. Finally, she made progress after an embarrassing amount of time seeking wood.

Her victory was short live. Another large log, another physical shortcoming on her part. Puffing her chest, she continued her endeavors.

Things are looking up. Dragging her prize behind her, Silhouette came across a small, portable log. This would do nicely.

No such luck. This was too large for Silhouette to add to her pile, the frustration building in the small doe.

There, yonder! She found a suitable candidate for her burning machinations only to look away dejectedly. Clear as day staring at her were the telltale signs of a rotting waterlogged piece of wood. Unsalvageable. She huffed away.

3 - A small log. You can easily carry it by balancing it on your back, if you go slowly. +2 points
4 - A large log. It is too big to carry back! If you're doing this quest alone, you must abandon it. If you're with someone else, +4 points each!
5 - Oh no! You step into a big puddle on your way back and lose your wood. -1 point
6 - A great leafy branch! You can carry it in your teeth. +4 points

Slow but steady, she switched tactics and came across small twigs and underbrush that would help build up the blaze nicely.

Continuing on this path seemed to be a good idea for Silhouette. More and more, she added to her considerably growing pile. Even bug shells and dried out dead things were added. Stinky, but good for the growing fire.

Silhouette was on a roll! These small additions were piling up and soon she could call it quits and go back to the festivities. For the days of sloth following this trek into the wilderness, this was the leash she could do. Thinking her journey had come to an end, she stumbled across a mighty log only to realize it was wet. Foiled once more.

Alas, a small log! Hard earned victory through muscles, grit and determination made her return to the festival all the sweeter. Proud she could have contributed to the festival, she unloaded her findings, accepted a snack and enjoyed the winding down of festivities.

Working out some kinks and much needed frustration, Doom thought to burn things for a while, but all those reserves weren't enough for her restlessness. She took to the wilderness and stumbled upon a small log. Reluctantly she brought it back as a larger bonfire was much more impressive.

Her next foray wasn't as fruitful. She found a skimpy branch, but threw it a bone anyway, and added it to her painstakingly slow growing pile.

Doom growled. Bad luck was following her. Perhaps she should sacrifice a zikwa to appease Lady Fortune.

Mental musings were proving just as important. The power of positive thinking was a great thing, she snorted. For she spied a large log except cruelness was the swamp's mien. Too large to haul back, she had to bitterly leave it behind.
