╔═══════════════════ Everyone knew that Elijah was a sucker for any kind of book – new or old, fact or fiction. He loved them all and craved their knowledge. So to hear Ezra offer to have him over as guest not only for delicious food, wonderful music and amazing company, but also to read his private library, Elijah was sold. “I’d love that, Ezra.” He didn’t know when he’d gather up enough courage to accept the invitation, but it seemed like an invitation that was open.
Smiling, he blushed a bit, feeling suddenly very shy. If they both didn’t have to prepare for classes tomorrow, he would have asked to spend the evening with the Professor, but alas, Elijah’s luck had failed him again. Just this morning Gannon had approached him, explaining that several Professors had been delayed in their travels. Gannon had requested that Elijah act as the Substitute Enhancer Professor in the meantime. Although he was a Diviner himself, he’d studied Enhancers (through texts) enough to know the basics that would be needed to teach the class for a few days. Worst case scenario, the older, more experienced students could help lead the classes under his supervision.
After Ezra reassured him that he hadnt made too much of a fool of himself, Elijah had emerged from his book fort and gone about the task off placing his precious books back on the shelves. Ezra did his best to help, but after a time, it was clear that this was a job for the Head Librarian. Thanking Ezra for his help, Elijah reassured him that sometime soon, he would accept the invitation and come to Ezra’s home to share another meal – with ample warning of course.
With a smile on his lips and a slight spring in his step, Elijah went about his day on cloud nine. His morning had been disastrously embarrassing, but in a way that had been in his favor. Ezra had seemed to find him charming – how, he had no idea – but with the possibility of pleasant evenings with the Celebrar Professor in his future, he found that he was greatly looking forward to the new semester…

Lerato's gaze on her was cold as ice, more so with her nervousness showing because of his intimidation. “I'll only going to say this once, so you better listen. This will be your last warning in case you decide to eavesdrop on us again like a fly on the wall. Such attitude is a disgrace to this school. If I hear even one single complaint about you doing this again, I may not show mercy ever again. Your punishment depends on the nature of the complaint, but it will be a hard one. Besides, I'm not the only one who had caught you red-handed in that act." Once he was done with the lecture, he retreated away from Willow. “That's all I have to say to you. You better behave if you want to remain on good terms with me." With that, he stalked off to return the books that he took earlier to the proper shelves before meeting up with his colleagues.
“It'll be a long day ahead of us, so better get going. Let me know if you need any help from me." And before he returned to his office to get the job done, he bestowed a flying kiss towards Gannon. Being the substitute professor for the Elementors as well as being a teacher in music would be a hard one, but at least he wouldn't feel bored.

╔═══════════════════ - Enter Elijah into the Grand Library -
The first day of classes had gone smoothly for everyone it seemed, including Elijah. His library had been mostly quiet all day, much to his delight. It gave him the opportunity to rearrange the higher shelves and categorize the books into a new order. Sadly, he hadn’t had time to see Ven or Ezra, but as Professors, they were busy with their students, so he understood and didn’t take it personally.
Now, on the second day of classes, with the Elective courses had begining, he knew he’d see more students in the library. Not all students took electives, some just didn’t have any interest in them. This meant, they had an extra day for their studies, which also meant they came to Elijah for help. He was glad to offer any assistance he could or go over any materials the students didn’t understand – that was his job after all.
Humming the tune Ezra had played on the piano for him a few days past, Elijah stood on a tall ladder against one of the higher book shelves. Fingertips grazing the spines of several books, he contemplated where to place the volumes on the shelves. There was no telling how long it would take him to rearrange everything, but in time, all his lovely books would be places in perfect order.

╔═══════════════════ Lost in his own train of thought, Elijah didn’t realize Willow had approached him from below until she spoke. Gasping a bit, he jumped, startled by her seemingly sudden presence. Glancing down at her, he chuckled at himself and his reaction.
“Good morning, Ms. Harbringer. You’re rather early this morning as well!” He said with a friendly air as he began to descend from the ladder. “My first day of classes was pleasantly uneventful and quiet.” It was clear that this greatly pleased Elijah – to anyone else, the description would have sounded rather boring.
“How was your first day of classes, Willow? Have you come to research something for class already?” It wasn’t uncommon for the Professors to give after class work on the first day, but Elijah frowned upon that. Work was for the classroom, leisure time should be for just that; leisure. In any case, he was always happy to help the students when needed.

Tala Maxwell
~ Entering Grand Library ~ He knew it wasn't good to avoid classes, but Tala had felt a little too nervous to approach any of the new faces for directions and so had spent his short time at the academy wandering the halls - it felt important to get a feel for the place whilst at the same time putting to memory all the locations that he could safely retreat to when things got a little too much for him...
Making use of the early morning quiet, he had slipped through the halls unseen, shrouded by his shadows and hopefully perceived as invisible by all he passed by - maybe no one had seen him make his way around the building, but it was almost certain that they had perhaps felt the slight chill in the air as he'd passed them by.
Pushing open the door to the Grand Library, Tala took a moment to close his eyes and breathe deep the scent of all the ancient tomes that must have been collected over many centuries - The familiar aroma that matched Baba's own library settling his nerves briefly as he closed the door with care, releasing the shadows that had kept him safe from prying eyes.
Turning from the door, Tala would stiffen at the sound of voices... After expecting the library to be one of the least populated places - especially in the morning, it was much busier than he'd hoped and so he glanced back to the doorway, his hand gracing the handle once again as he began to wonder if it would be too late to retreat back into the corridor and find somewhere else to hide out.
He knew that he would have to interact with the other residents eventually but hoped the trio would be too busy with their conversation to want to talk to him.
Keeping his gaze on the floor, Tala made his way down the opposing side of the hall, his fingertips gently caressing the backs of the books which stood at a relaxed level on the lower shelves as he passed them by. He took in the textures of their spines before pausing as a title on a higher shelf caught his eye. Lifting his hand now, he slid the tome with care from the shelf, tracing a finger across the silvery letters before opening it to the first page.
His eyes skimmed across the first few paragraphs, then as the words drew him in, he lifted his gaze once again, looking towards the trio before flicking his focus to the door. Being new to the academy, Tala couldn't tell if these books were allowed to be removed from the library and so he took a moment to ponder over his next move. His memories lacking recall of positive interaction with people in the past now stalled his urge to ask and so he was left with the decision to either sit down against one of the pillars and continue reading...or slip the book inside his jacket and make a swift exit towards the door - having utilised thievery and smuggling as part of his job in the past this still left a subconscious option in the back of his mind...

Elijah looked toward Willow with an amused smile. It figured that Willow would guess at what he’d been up to during the late night hours while everyone else slept. He had in fact been up all night organizing his library, but he'd done it out of necessity. Once he’d started he just hadn’t been able to tear himself away. Winking at her, he chuckled, “You know me all too well, Willow.” At least his efforts weren’t in vain. Willow was one of his favorite students – she had a keen mind and firm appreciation for the written word, just like him. They were two peas in a pod.
Elijah had been about to ask Willow what he could help her with when Ezra walked into the library. Catching sight of the crimson haired professor, Elijah felt his cheeks heat in a bit of a blush. Given how he’d behaved two days prior, he was still a bit sheepish about facing the Celebrar Professor. Luckily, it seemed that Ezra wasn’t here to tease him – not that he thought Ezra would ever do that…
“Good morning, Ezra. I’m well, how are you?” He asked, his demeanor changing from confident librarian to shy book keeper in a matter of seconds. As the libaray door opened again, Elijah’s attention was momentarily drawn away from Ezra and Willow to the new comer. Tilting his head to the side, he watched as the student headed away from their little group toward the far end of the Library. If he didn’t know better he would have guessed that the boy was purposefully avoiding them.
Keeping a close eye on the student, who was unknown to him, he looked back toward Ezra with a friendly smile. He’d regained a bit of his confidence, but as of late, he’d been a bit tongue tied and weak kneed whilst in the company of the charming Professor.

Even after yesterday's mostly uneventful class (he wasn't stupid enough to not notice his most troublesome students ditching, he'd be having words with them soon), today's free day was almost welcome. It was a good thing that it was still early in the school year otherwise he'd be busy going over assignments and other work, but if there was one good thing about the first week of school, it was that they could take it easy. He couldn't leave the campus in case they needed him, but he could spend time with his friends. Gianna was teaching today, but Eli was almost certainly at the library cataloging the books for the umpteenth time and decided what he was going to do was easy. He still needed to thank his best friend for his very thoughtful gift and drag him out for his daily dose of sunshine, even if it was cloudy today. Fresh air would do him good.
Once he entered the library, he paused for a moment to let his nose adjust to the overwhelming, familiar smell of parchment before heading for Eli's desk. He wasn't surprised to find Ezra there as well as another student he saw often when he visited, although he smirked at the sight of Eli's flustered face. He tried to set him up and watched him flail so many times, it was only fair that Ven enjoyed seeing his best friend blushing like he'd never been romanced before. "I'm not interrupting a gathering, am I?" he asked nonchalantly as he approached, sending Eli a look that clearly showed exactly what he meant by that. They weren't completely alone, Ven could sense more students lurking around, including a nervous-smelling first year, but that was beside the point. "I hope yesterday went well for all of you?" he addressed the three before turning back to Eli. "Thank you for the gift by the way, I really liked it," He really needed to take him out late, or maybe tell Ezra about some of his favourite places and have him take him. Eli would be over the moon.

Tala Maxwell It would become clear that the male was conflicted in his choice, he took a step away from the shelf, the book held close to his chest, ready to slip into his jacket as he turned and shifted his foot towards the door. It wouldn't be easy to slip out, there were too many people, but then again, very few knew what he could do - that and he could very easily hide the book so it wasn't discovered when he was asked to turn out his pockets.
He stopped. Something in the back of his mind reminding him that being so new to the location and completely unaware as to any rules set in place, this decision could turn out to be a very bad idea, besides, wasn't this an opportunity to make a fresh start? He remained where he stood, turning his gaze back to the shelf, now considering whether or not to return it to its place and take his leave... No, he wanted to read, he needed to distract his mind from unnecessary anxieties.
Frowning at his indecision, Tala turned, advancing towards the closest of pillars before twisting round and sitting down, as he dropped, his eyes took a second to scrutinise the group and gauge if anyone had been watching before drawing his knees up and laying the book across his left arm as he reopened the tome to the page he had started to read.
Tala's eyes scanned the words as his fingers traced the page, images forming in his mind as his imagination took over. Naturally, he would use his ability to cast what he saw onto walls or sometimes, even give it form and allow it to run around as he read. Today would have been no different, except for the fact he was in the company of others... At the slightest movement out of the corner of his eye, he would extend his right hand, taking up the tiny, black creature before holding it in his lap as he continued to read.
Occasionally, Tala's eyes would drift down to the creature, watching as it morphed with each new image that entered his mind, growing larger until it finally drew his attention fully from the page. Dispersing the shadow before it became noticeable to the others Tala closed the book - it had done well to distract him, but if he allowed his imagination to stray further, it would leave him having to answer questions he didn't feel quite comfortable answering just yet...
Pushing himself to his feet, Tala would straighten out his clothes before setting his sights on the group. One of them had to be in charge and he knew he would have to learn to ask if he wanted to survive his first few days without giving the wrong impression.
He would make his way over, his heart pounding in his chest the closer he got before averting his eyes and waiting patiently for them to finish in their conversation, it was only then that he would proceed with his enquiry.
"Uh...Hi there," he bowed his head respectfully before glancing around the group, "I was just wondering...if I could borrow this?" he lifted the book in question, drawing his lips back into a smile, one that were he more confident, would have almost certainly won favours were he back home...
