She was surprised by the sudden change in plans but followed along behind him anyway. Fighting right now would ruin her hair and make up but if he didn't care, neither did she. She could always go back to the inn to wash her face and meet up with him again later, too. The sun would be a problem too since it was the brightest, warmest part of the day. But she'd manage something. A big part of why she wanted to spar with him was to prove that she could defend herself and then that would keep him from thinking he had to protect her. Otherwise she was just curious about his fighting ability and what it would feel like to take that bullet-like kick from yesterday. She did however note that once more he'd avoided answering one of her questions. Was it unpleasant to speak of the past?

Griz stood at the paddock at the forested side of the village square, next to the stone archway that marked the Safe Path for travel through the Forest between the village and the castle. He leaned on the fence with one foot on the lower rung and watched the horses as they milled around the paddock and strengthened their legs after the long voyage. After a little while, one of them approached him and huffed into his hair, pulling a smile and a soft laugh from him as he reached up to pet that nose and face.

"Yes, Kana, we're here. You and your new ladies are all finally here. I'll get you all up to the castle, then I think you'll be free to roam as you wish," he said simply then gave the neck a pat and moved to open the gate so that they could start their journey.

He had to admit that they were all beautiful, each one a perfect specimen of the new breed his family had been working on for so long. It hadn't been easy to sav e them in the beginning, much less to start breeding them, but they'd managed it. And these were the best, all a fitting gift...
