[Your Little Phony]

. ROUND 2: ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE .

In the mass hysteria, the mad dash of Phonies past the cordoned area went generally unnoticed by the distracted Phony security.
Those good-intentioned enough to politely inform said security about the stray Jellies are faced with a frazzled Phony, nodding solemnly,
their eyes distracted by a stray park-goer stampede in the near distance.

"Could you please inform admin about what you saw?" Their voice is strained as they squint past your heads.
"Just - just head over to the Admin building, and tell them all the details. Thank you for your help."

You get the feeling that the head that’s craning over the crowd is going to roll once Silent Quill hears about this gross lapse of judgment,
but that’s not your problem...

Eventually the whole group is suspiciously looking at each other, gathered at the Admin building’s customer-facing glass doors.
Upon approach, they slide open to a neat, futuristic reception area, with thick dashed lines clearly marking out the area,
two corridors adjoining leading left and right. There is no one there, just a plastic sign perched upon
the edge of the reception desk that says "Out on Emergency, please come back later."

(The fact that they have a standard sign made especially for these situations is also suspicious.)

The relative quiet is broken by the squawk of a chicken, meandering into the space - having passed the dashed line,
it looks up at the gathered Phonies and person, before cheerfully squawking twice and meandering back into the left corridor: the way it came.
Another chicken toddles in from the right and wanders towards the same direction.
After a procession of hens, it’s clear that Something is up down that corridor.
The dashed line has a row of text that says very emphatically: "DO NOT CROSS THIS LINE."

A chicken tilts its head at you and wanders onwards.

Whether eagerly or reluctantly, the group of you end up at the front of a shuttered entrance from the admin building’s corridor,
presumably to a factory section. The shutters are locked tight, operated with a pass card pad, connecting wires
winding upwards to the top of the doorframe. A little to the right is a tantalising big red emergency button,
housed under a flip-up clear casing, with print that says "Only Press in Case of REAL Emergency" accusingly.

The chickens taunt you by fluttering up and down a stray crate situated conveniently below a high, open vent -
the opening large enough to squeeze an average Phony and/or person, if one doesn’t mind fighting
all the chicken traffic going in and out of the adjacent factory.

It seems the answer to this chicken mystery lies beyond these shutters.

ROUND 2: ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE
2. Press the big red emergency button

"Only Press in Case of REAL Emergency," Live read aloud to the one remaining chaperone she had, who was toeing the floor like she was ready to run the Phonyland Derby.

The chickens, apparently, are what did it. One look at the hen by the vent sent her chaprone's eyes going wide like she'd seen how she'd die and she bolted, whinnying like a banshee.

Live stood there in disbelief. They'd leave a child (admittedly with the soul of a 100 year old, fashionable war general) alone in a dangerous situation, in the middle of a neglected lobby, with quite a few Phonies ready to happily embrace their doom.

She swore she saw a few of them already climbing boxes and shook her head.

"What else," she began, "would even qualify as a -real- emergency? Though with the horrendous lack of security, I doubt this will do anything good..."

She brought her hoof down like a judge's gavel onto the button.

ROUND 2: ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE

After having fought her way to the front of the group that had the same idea she had, Aegis stared confused as a procession of chickens began to pour from what felt like every crevice of the building and march down one lone corridor. Huffing, Aegis followed after them, nosing them out of the way or even kicking one plumply in the butt to move it. She huffed again, already getting bored. "I thought there was going to be something neat over here, not chickens." she sighed, watching them all try to fight to the top of a box and some kind of vent.

What caught the carousel filly's eyes however, was a giant red button encased in an easily accessible case and big letters saying 'Only Press in Case of REAL Emergency.'

Aegis snorted and laughed. The simple fact that it said -not- to push it, only made her want to push it more. Trotting up she leaned up and flicked open the case, hoof coming to rest on the button. "Oh but there is a real emergency. I'M BORED." she shouted before giving it a big ol pressssssss.

Apparently others had the same idea she had. They had all ended up together in the Admin building. But they were not alone!

Erina stared confused. Where did all these chickens come from!? She followed after them and found herself in a room with an emergency button. She was more focused on the large amount of birds though, and so she walked straight past the button and on toward the vent.

"Why are they all hanging out over here?" she wondered aloud. She pushed her way through the mass as they pecked and squawked at her; pressing on through the vent to see where it lead.

Oathkeeper tried to stay at the front of the group but there was a startling amount of children here, on this potentially dangerous mission, and she found herself torn. Somebody should probably tell them all to go home and escort them to safety, which was what a knight would do. But she also had to save the day and stop the.... chickens?

Well, if that was the extent of the problem, a few stray chickens, then she needn’t worry about the little scamps.

Continuing on with her guilt put aside, Oathkeeper mingled with the group and watched as a few of the youngsters immediately went for the button, which made sense. It did seem to be an emergency. But surely staff would have pressed it already. Maybe it was broken. Maybe that’s why there were chickens.

Somebody else was trying the vent but she would hardly fit there.

Her first instinct was brute force instead.

“Stand back,” she warned as she trotted over to the shutters.

Then she dig in her heels and put her shoulders into forcing it open.

Like, what’s with all the chickens? Geode thought to herself. First jellies and now rampant chickens. It seemed like the plot of a good 80s action thriller! Maybe it was! And she was the beautiful girl with the can do attitude! That was so perfect for her!

Her thought process was thrown off track when several little ones made for a big red button. Don’t they know that always leads to bad things? It’s in all the movies! Then some human went for the vent shaft. Well given her ample size despite a lack of height she knew that was out of the question. Plus that’s where aliens lived. Finally another mare seemed intent on getting through some shutters. Well that was something she could get behind. Not to mention the mare has some rad colors!

“Hey there, dudette! Need some weight behind that push?” the chunky peg asked as she flew over, “Let me give you some help!” With that she flew back then flew forward, more like a purple hairspray battering ram.

She expected her involvement would end at informing authorities. Apparently not! How weird. She did as directed, and went to the admin building. ...Along with a bunch of others, apparently. This felt almost irresponsible, on the park's behalf...

And then no staff was even there. Just rebel chickens and a button, plus shutters to get through. Well. She wasn't going to press the button, and the shutters looked super locked. With little other choice, she followed the chickens into their shenanigans, as tight-fitting and feathery as that was.

Hijinks eyed the other phonies and people suspiciously. They would be good victims for a little pick-pocketing, but it seemed like they'd all be stuck together for a while if they were going to figure out what was going on. If she started up her shenanigans now and got caught, surely she'd get kicked out of the group and then be a dollar short and an adventure missed.

It looked like she would have to make her decision fast. Some idiot pressed the emergency button; this would obviously call all matter of security phony to their location. That was just dumb; stupid goody-two-shoes. That meant that the ones trying to break into the shuttered door would likely get caught by whoever responded to the emergency button... really, the only viable option was to join the other schmucks trying to crawl up a vent. Being the smallest and most agile, she jumped onto the crate and pulled herself into the cramped space with some ease, but had to pause to spit out a couple chicken feathers that ended up in her mouth along the way.

Bokeh paused as he watched the chickens, honestly wondering why there were so many of them. Probably best to follow them through the vents.

He paused for a moment to take a picture of the big red button before going into the vent, trying and failing to muffle a laugh as the chicken feathers tickled him. Didn't manage to stop himself from sneezing either. As he went further down the vent with all his new feathery companions, he could not stop the thought of wondering if this is what a chicken nugget factory look like from the perspective of a chicken.
