In the year 96, I was reading the manga and talking about the manga but I did watch other anime shows when I was a kid. Yugioh isn't the only anime show that I watch. 3nodding sweatdrop Oh and I live in Florida (sorry still not telling where in Florids).

For some reason me and everyone I know who has been to florida has had bad dealings there. I don't know what it is about that state. Its just possesed by evil apparently. o.o

Florida is just over-populated with Latin Americans and African Americans. Put those two cultures and some Asians there....they will kill each other. sweatdrop Hispanics, Asians and African Americans do not get along with each other! Or it could be the Florida Heat! sweatdrop

I know what you're talking about. I live in Arizona, and there's a real big battle going on right now between whites and Hispanics. Why can't we all just get along??? gonk My mom went just about ten miles south of where we live, and then she was walking in a parking lot and a Hispanic seriously tried to run her over! There's just so much hatred it's sad.

Hippy town... everybody is seriously too stoned to be racist. There are gangs, but I think thats just mostly mexicans fighting each other. Yeah I don't really get the hate either. especially against people with your same race and heritage and beliefs. o.0; Even that stuff seems pretty insignificant to me. People piss me off with what they do, not who they are. 3nodding Thats how it should be.

I really wish people didn't distinguish others by race at all, but that's impossible because of the way we were raised.... Aaanyway, I guess we should let it get back on topic... XD;; So... since I've already answered the topic question, I'm going to say that today my second cousin was over and he wanted to watch a DBZ DVD with me. Evidently a picture of Cooler about to attack and the title "Dragon Ball Z" on a movie cover equals YUU*GI*OU to my mom, because she got me all hyped up saying that my cousing had rented a YUU*GI*OU movie and wanted to watch it with me. I was all excited thinking it might be my chance to see Capsule Monsters but no... gonk So yeah, my mom thinks YUU*GI*OU and Dragon Ball Z are the same thing. They may be my two favorite anime but they're completely different!

My parents used to do that too, when I was first getting into anime. Everything looked the same to them. Even now, my mom'll be flipping through the channels and call me into the room if she sees some anime on to ask me what it is and if its any good. They've gotten to the point where they can differienciate between my favorites, but they still assume I watch and read all of it, and that its all either action fighting shows or romance.
But its such a diverse thing, I wish I could educate the masses! gonk

My mom only knows from taking an active interest. Like I mentioned in the "noa wants his bod" story, my parents would even watch it with me for a good while! rofl
Yu-gi-oh, bo-bobo bobobo-bo, and one piece are about the only things they can recognize though. My sis knows a little more because she still watches toonami and stuff with me occasionally. As long as theres at least one person I can make jokes with in my house, I'm good!

Man, American parents are weird because all anime are different and unique in their own way. Sailor Moon, Yugioh, DBZ, and One Piece have very and I mean VERY different styles of drawing. It's so easy to tell the anime shows apart. sweatdrop Japanese parents all know the difference in anime....well my mother used to like Sailormoon and my dad loved this show called Cyber Cats. Those anime shows were so different but somehow they hated Yugioh. sweatdrop I love Yugi!...er...I mean Yugioh. 4laugh ninja

My mom thinks it's really nice, but she says they ripped off a lot. She's a spoilsport. My dad doesn't care. He just doesn't like anime. My brother only knows about the card game and he's out of the house, but he loves the monsters.

Well its easy to tell the differences in style if you've been around anime most of your life. Most amercian parents never watch that stuff so it all looks the same to them, just like all rap sounds the same to people who don't usually listen to it even though the artists have different styles in that too.
Its just a matter of familiarity. =o
To Ramusha: What does she say it ripps off? XD & yeah, the only guys left in this fandom now are usually just in it for the dueling. They don't even know the characters anymore. >.>;

Because they had Kuriboh which looked like one of the tribbles from Star trek, and The capsule monsters movie was a lot like pokemon in some points. And, yes. The men are just in for cards. Ugh!!

Actually anime is the art of Japan like the Mona Lisa is for the Europian countries. Any generation in Japan knows what anime is even my great-great-grandparents. sweatdrop
I don't think Yugioh is a rip off of anything. It's just a good show with a good storyline. 3nodding
