Okay, so I'm a little confused with what to post regarding fanfictions. So I make a topic for the fanfiction...and then I make a duplicate post in the archives thread? I have to have up three posts for the topic, and duplicate all three in the archives thread, is that it?

Also, if your fanfiction is a series of oneshots, how do you classify it?

First post your story(s) up in one of the subforums that the story fits under as a New Topic - Normal post. Follow the submission guidelines. the posts in that format, are in that same topic. you just post multiple times in that same story topic.

You repeat that for multiple stories. Each story should have it's own topic. As for oneshots, if they go together you can just say a "A seies of [insert fandom] Oneshots" as you topic title and then post all the correct information in the various posts. (ex. the first post would list ALL the oneshots and their links and the information per oneshot ALL in the same post)

Now for Archiving you just submit a post in the proper Archive topic with the Archieve submission information (your name linked to your guild profile - story title(linked to story post) - (story rating) Also say whether it is a Story or Oneshot and what fandom it belongs to.

let me know if you still need help with posting, feel free to post more questions.

Do you know anything about the song fiction rule? I remember reading that songfics weren't allowed but I've written recent fics that include songs and they're still up. Plus, I've seen other songfictions by other authors arong. Is it okay to post those on the site?

honestly I have to check on that, but my understanding of it is as follows:

1- "SONGfics" are not allowed if they are just a real(not writtenby you) song said to be in the perspective of a character.
OR in which lyrics from a real (not written by you) are used as outer inserts for a story or having a character sing or write, or something of that nature them. Also if there is NO plot or story to go along with them.

2- If you as a fanfic author, write lyrics for a character and do not have any thing other than those lyrics for the story, than you should just call it a poem and post it otherwise, I'm sure it will be "against" the songfic rules. Truly songs are poetic, so it's okay, since you aren't actually singing.

3- If you have characters just listen to the radio, or randomly sing a few lines from a song, whether you wrote it or not (and if not, you should give CREDIT to those who did/preform it) mixed into a scene in the story, so long as it isn't the only thing in the story and or scene, it seems to be fine. Give credit when you use another person's work.

4- Also songfics in which the actual preformers and or artists are in the fic are not allowed.

5- Just because you see them online, doesn't mean they AREN'T against the rules. Re-read the rules and message a moderator if you want them to make it clearer.

I would think you need to define what you mean by song fic, since the term is very broadly used.

Hope that helped.

Question!

It says in the rules post thingy that we need to achieve our stories. I write anime and the anime I write is not one of them, do I should I still post a story format in that subform and just link it to my member profile?

No, if your Anime Fandom does not have it's own fandom, then it just needs to be posted in the "Anime" sticky. If you click in it you will see we try to archieve the majority of the non-hugely-popular ones there.

posting a story and archieving it are two different things so which is the later question actually asking about?

I have read the ToS, and I'm not very sure if I fit under that category. I have a story I would like to set a link to, but I'm not sure if it's exactly "pornographic," which is against the ToS rules. There IS scene(well, one and a half) in the fic, but I don't know if that would be considered pornographic if it's not vulgar.
I'm confused.

Send me (in a PM) a link to the chapter with the questionable scene. I'll read it and let you know if it's acceptable or not. Though usually if you're not sure if it's appropriate for 13 year olds, it isn't.

I'm sorry if you've already answered this question, or if it's already addressed in one of the posts, but how do we archive crossovers?

As an example, I have a Hellsing (Manga) and Sweeney Todd (Movie) crossover. Would I post the information to both the Anime and Movies crossover archive posts, or would I make a single post to only one of them?

I had the same question a while back. wink You can post it in either Anime/Manga or Movies or both. If you post it in both, I don't have any problem with archieving it in both sections. Both makes the most sense since the whole point of the archives is to make it easier to locate the fandoms you want to read.

Thank you! I'll probably post to both then, for conveniences sake.
