Emo stands for Emotional. Well atleast it did. Now emo stands for the girly pants wearing, Music=life loveing Tri-hard kids, that type in all caps and spells like with a Y not a I. The emo fad showed up and every skinny blond girl started dying there hair black and saying how painful life is. Draging a ******** safey pin down you arm suddenly made you popular. And sorry to break it to everyone but 89% of the emo population cut. They think it gives then some special emo power or something. So yeah that probly why everyone thinks "God your emo, you must cut yourself". Emo has turned in to a big eyeliner wearing monster. Its no longer a state of mind but a fashion statment and a way of life.

First of all, just because you're emo doesn't mean you cut. And just because you cut doesn't mean you're emo. If you started cutting yourself to prove to somebody that you're emo, then you are as ignorant as the people that think cutting = emo. Scientificly, cutting releases stress. Emotionaly, cutting is a way to release the anger trapped inside you and it makes you feel better. I don't cut, but I am emo.
Second, about half of this thread has been an argument over the real definition of "emo". I'm curious, since most of you here are emo, why can't you decide the definition of what you are? This leads me to believe that there is a real lack of understanding here. Why should the definition of emo matter? You are who you are, and if you are emo, then you are emo. Let's not waste our time arguing over petty stuff. We have bigger problems that need to be addressed.
