I think it's annoying as well, and the reasons why have already been stated. Remember, if you're trying too hard to be emo, you're just a wannabe emo. And that's just sad.

The fact is
X is a letter. It can't be owned.
Emo's don't own X.
X is not an Emo Style.
X is part of the alphabet.
Used in the spelling of words such as "Excellent" or "Axe".
If I where to put the letter X into a username, It would be because Its a letter that I just so happened to put into my username.
So
Putting X in something Is Not, I repeat. Is Not an attempt to be emo, and it is not sad.
Yes, at times people can over use it in names. (Like- XxXIXWannaXCutXMyXWristsXTillXIXBleedXxX)
But If its Just - Silently.BreathingX or XSlurpee. Then Just, Get Over It.
So I'm basically disagreeing to what you said....and What Rented Tuxedos said

The X is for the hardcore extreme-ness.
And kirakin Emo's don't own X and No If I where to put the letter X into a username it would not make you a wanna be emo. Its when you Have screen names my EmoXCore or xxHaRdCoReXeMo the your a wanna be

Unless you over do it i see no problem with it at all.
Like mine CassixCorpse.
Its Mainly like that call all my other sns are CassiXcorpse cept my yahoo which is Cassixzombie.
THe reason its like that is iwant it to be like htat end of story.
I know others whos sns are like that and i see no problem with it either. Unless like said its over done.

I prefer my spaces, space are hardcore...
Actually, I think this fad started because someone couldn't use space or underscores on their screen name and used x's instead, you know?

Sorry...But Its what I think...But we're talking not about X used as a letter, but about X being used to replace punctuation within the user name like for example a username I was toying with 'Rellixan' would be a clever play on my usual user name, but if I wer to say call myself 'rellikXsan' then it would be classed as emo as the space or any other required punctuation would be replaced by X to show my hard X core extreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemmmmeness yo.

My name is definately NOT an attempt at emo . . . It's a result of me randomly typing something, then pressing change name, thinking that another box would come up saying 'are you sure?' but it just changed it lol

A.Box.Of.Sharp.Objects What is it with emos and their 'x's in usernames? Can someone tell me please? I think the 'x' represents power and originality. I think they like being original. And I know punk, emo, goth people love power. Power of music, power of people.
