Hearts in Atlantis, The Hours, Remember the Titans, and The Pursuit of Happyness did it for me.

Oh yes, Hearts in Atlantis and The Hours.

Also, The Remains of the Day (so quiet, yet such a tragedy).

And a very old movie called The Night of the Hunter... OMG that one is great, pitches pure evil against pure good in a long chase of two children by a very evil man.

I like The Silence of the Lambs for the contradiction between Hannibal's civility and intelligence with Clarice, and his insanity and cannibalism on the other hand.

A Lesson Before Dying is another inspiring movie.
Hearts in Atlantis and The Hours are two of my favorite movies. <3 I've seen them so many times. XD

Requiem for a Dream, the Joy Luck Club, The Day After Tomorrow, surprisingly V for Vendetta, and mostly I Am Sam. Everytime I watch that movie I cry.
I Am Sam made me cry a waterfall. sad

She lay down on the grass,
Looking up at the sky,
thinking, it’s all she can do.
If she disappeared she would not be missed.
She will be gone just like everyone else.

Getting up from the grass,
she walks on the sand,
looking outward towards the sea.
She walks into the water high up above her knees.

Cruel Intentions.

List may go on.

The waves softly hit her legs.
She looks at the sunset and its yellow-red hues
she walks into the sea, farther and farther,
opening her arms towards the wave.
The water is high up to her hips.
The wave comes towards her.
She looks at the wave with her arms stretched out;
the water starts to rage, the wave hits her body hard.
Then the water calms down. The water recedes,
then darkness falls, and all goes dark.
The sun goes down and the day is done.

Grave of the Fireflies is the one which hit me the most. So sad! crying If you don't turn completely anti-war (that is to say if you weren't already) for a good few weeks after watching then you have no soul wink It makes you consider not only the impact of war on civilians, but also the driving forces behind the actions of all the characters, who in the end do nothing wrong besides being human and open to falibility. crying

Oh god that movie made me cry. My friend was like...watch this it WILL make you weep. I'm like what, it's an anime no way! But lest I spoke too soon. The little girl in it is so cute *gulps* why! just why!

I have to say Requiem for a dream got to me on some levels, just the whole theme of addiction and how lives and expectations can spiral out of control over addiction. The camera direction was a bit showy but ultimately it also made me gulp a lot. There are lots of outgoing messages in the subtext of this film.

My friend saw it before me. And since I know her taste in movies is good I wanted to see it. I wanted to borrow her DVD but I saw that it was on TV a few days ago and I wanted to see it, so I watched it. She told me that it will make me want to crawl into a deep dark hole and stay there. I didn't quite get that effect, but my mom was being loud throughout it and I wanted to watch the non-television-cut version. Although it was fairly powerful. I did not fall asleep for a little while afterwards and I was chocking a pillow towards the end. And I did cry at the end too.... It started at 11:15 pm and ended at 12:45 am, which is fairly late for such a movie.

Another movie I didn't mention above: Silence of the Lambs... another movie not recommended to be seen late at night but it is an impacting movie.

The documentary Super-size Me had me cut out all fast food in my life. Yay!

Donnie Darko made me seriously ponder on life and what pushes humans to strive. What you would do for your family and what you would do for friends. Ah, I love that movie.

From an emotional point of view some of the visuals in that film are quite powerful. It was an adaptation of Hubert Selby's novel of the same name. If you liked it, you might like Darren Arronofsky's newer film "The fountain" it's directed in the same way.

I love Silence of the Lambs and also Hannibal and Red Dragon. All made make me want to take up criminology. I love Hannibal Lector's character.

Hannibal-Lector-Gasm...

I think Anthony Hopkins makes a great Hannibal Lector... I haven't actually seen all of Hannibal. Every time I see it on television I only see parts of it... and it tends to be the same parts too.... O.o... One day I will sit through the whole movie. XD

And I'll keep The Fountain in mind. Thanks... I might even read Requiem for a Dream. Thats probably how my friend found out about the movie. She loves reading.
