Tis why some prefer Not to tell their parents. At least not until they think they will accept them for who they are. If that would ever be that case. I for one have not told my parents for this exact reason. Sure they should know, but I don't want to change how they look and act around me.
(Plus, they I wouldn't be able to see my girlfriend as much...) >>;

As horrible as it is, those parents just think that they're doing what's best for their child. They've been told their entire life that it's against God and yadda yadda yadda. They think that it's only a passing faze and that once their child is away for a bit they will come to their sences. They are told that they have to punish they child for being gay and so they do. It's not that they don't love them. They will always love them. They are just being forced by society to act in such ways. Really, they're a victim too. It's a horrible cycle, one that can only end by someone showing the parents that what their priests/friends/family/community says is wrong.

When my parents found out that i was bisexual and have a girlfriend, let's say they weren't thrilled. They tried telling me it's against their religion and mine and that it was wrong. Non-the-less though, I told my mom that if she can't accept it as being part of me then whatever, i don't want to stay in the same home as someone who can't accept me for me. It's been 2 years since then and she's accepted it to a point, though i think she is still having troube with the fact that i'm bringing my g/f to prom with me. I honestly hate parents that do stupid things like that and try to use the excuse that it's against God's will and crap like that.
My other friend had that happen to him from his dad when he told him. His dad tried spouting off nonsense about god and stuff and how wrong it was. His mom on the other hand was like "I already knew dear, but i was waiting for you to tell me." which was cool of her. (his parents are divorced) But I'm happy because him and his boyfriend are going to prom together, it'll be like a gay party going on in the limo this Friday xd Most of my friends are either gay or bisexual which is interesting.

I don`t believe in the religion i was suppose to believe in when raised. As I got older I found it to be more and more lies. (I`m technically catholic but i do not believe in it so i don`t really count myself as well. I like Paganism better.

At my school, it had to be opposite sex couples. No girl-girl or boy-boy. That I thought was very stupid. And religion is part of why so many kids never tell anyone, because those they know who are religious are rarely tolerant of their preferences.

I think it's dumb to be homophobic, even if it's not your kid. But when it's your own kid and you kick them out for it, it's really messed up.
Is your friend's family religious at all? It may be against their religion or something. D;

i myself am a les and im goin thru the same thing. kind of. my mom is ok with me and my dad disagrees. so that pisses him off even more cause he knows that he cant do anything about it cause of the fact that my mom doesnt mind. :] but im moving out of my house anyways. so its all good. but i mean you do have to understand that she is not the only one going thru that. many other poeple go thru the same thing and sometimes worse. all you can do is just be there for here and be better than what her parents are doin now. *nods*
