...Okay. That was brought on by?

An addition to the list: Fourth, the Left Behind series is, in my opinion, a sub-par ripoff of Stephen King's The Stand.

You know... it kind of is.

Except, you know, that story actually went somewhere.

I swear, this one has 20-chapters of 'Christianity is blah blah and you're going to die blah blah.' The rest is... plot. I think.

Indeed. At least in The Stand the existence of God and/or validity of Christianity was left somewhat ambiguous. And at least the Christians in that story weren't Nazis about their beliefs and Atheists weren't the stereotypical religion-haters.

In my book, you're allowed to have the following number of pages in your book about reinforcing your religion (no pun intended): None.

Of course, it doesn't count if you have a very devout character that clashes with other characters for dramatic tension, but too much of that is overkill. I'm pretty sure that by this point the story has lost its promise of storytelling and has become propaganda.

Third, Rodney is always right. Except for that time when he destroyed 3/4 of a solar system, but that was a very special exception.
Las mujeres no me faltan,
ni el dinero ni el amor

Rodney + logic = OTP heart

Rodney is not going to worship any god who tortures those who do not worship.

In fact, let's look back on both Stargate series and reflect upon the numerous plots that revolve around "gods" who torture those who refuse to worship them... Hm... 3nodding

I think there was one episode where O'Neill was going to be forced to believe in some system lord, but he says something like "Just the one for me."

I thought that was pretty witty, at the time...

My favorite moment ever, in which Teal'c gets really pissed:

Quote:
JACKSON: "Senator, they are coming."

KINSEY: "Then I say, let them come!"

O'NEILL: "Where do you get this bureaucratic bull? You're talking suicide!"

KINSEY: "Colonel O'Neill, you underestimate this great nation."

TEAL'C: "It is you that underestimate the enemy. We have challenged Apophis. He will not rest until the people on this world worship him as their god."

KINSEY: "There is only ONE God, sir! And I do not believe for one moment that he will allow what you're trying to tell me come to pass. We are, after all, one nation under God."

O'NEILL: "And you think...God is going to save us?"

TEAL'C: "The Goa'uld believe they are gods. And your beliefs will not dissuade them."

KINSEY: "If the Goa'uld do come, then we will be able to tell them that we have buried our gate under the ground forever, and that we will never go through it again. If they challenge, us then we shall prevail."

JACKSON: "You are a fool."

God, you know, the more I think of Kinsey, the more I'm reminded of a certain president... stare

I dislike how overwhelmingly positive the reviews are. I especially dislike one where it said, "'blahblah' ...at least she's a Christian now."

...Like that makes ANY difference in the long run. Faith isn't going to save them from intergalactical bad guys.

He isn't even a good writer(Yes, I will attack the writing). Fifty-five lines of people talking to eachother(commonly about GAWD) and a clump of a paragraph of description is not good storytelling. A fifteen year old girl could write the same thing.

Some evil Anti-Religion force from the planet Athealist better show up and blow everyone to pieces. If not to reinforced the oodles of stereotyping, to give me some faith in humanity....

And Rodney better be leading them.

Quote:
“Rodney!” Zelinka slammed his hand on the desk, startling them both. He winced slightly but went on, “Where do you think I’ve gotten my inspiration for all the times I’ve saved your life?”
Fun fact: Christians only save people if a 1700 year old book tells them to.

Fun fact: Christians need inspiration to save people.

As opposed to just saving them because of human kindness?

Does this guy REALLY think that, in the thick of it, an Atheist wouldn't save someone just because they didn't want that person to die? Are we so evil? rofl
