Houka emerged from the forest after nearly an hour's walk. His legs were weak and tired from all of the walking he had done the day, but he still dredged onwards. He wouldn't let himself stop; not until he had the information he desired. As the Moon made its appearance in the starblazed sky, Houka stared up to it; his powers had increased tenfold. He closed his eyes, absorbing and basking in the Moon's glow as it continued to bless him with growing power.
"That feels good..." Houka muttered. Houka opened his eyes and looked ahead; a seaside village was not too far away from his current position. It was good, too; his legs were about to give in on him. He hurried into the village as fast as he was able and stared around. The village was medium-sized and it looked prosperous. Lanterns hanged on golden wires that stretched across from building to building, giving off a resplendent glow; the architecture of the buildings were arched and slanted with green-tiled roofs and bage cement foundations; streets were still lined with vendors, even at this time of night.
Houka made his way through the crowd, looking from sign to sign on buildings. People gave him odd looks because of his cloaked appearance, but he payed them no mind at all.
"'Scuse me," Houka said, walking over to a man who was sweeping the outside of his shop while whispering a sonorous tune. "Does this town have an Inn?" The old man stopped sweeping and whistling and turned to Houka; he gave Houka an odd look, almost a glare, that gave Houka the feeling the man wanted to be left alone. The old man stood silent for a moment, as if contemplating whether he should tell the stranger anything at all. The man reluctantly pointed down the street, heaving a sigh.
"Yeah, there should be one down there. Just go down a little ways, but not so far as the port; you'll have gone too far. It should be on your right," the old man replied. He cocked his head to the side and bent down a little, trying to look under Houka's hood for the boy's eyes, but all he could see was a deep darkness.
Houka stared in the direction the man was pointing in and nodded as he received directions.
"Thanks, old man," Houka replied, strolling away down the hill. The old man watched Houka leave and muttered something under his breath before resuming his sweeping and whistling.
