"Having fun,"

Gunilda listened, making a few idle notes, having already known most of what Professor Powell said, but nonetheless mildly interested. Her interest had of course been caught from the beginning, when Powell had mentioned the founders. Salazar only valued purebloods? That's just wrong, Gunilda thought to herself, a little annoyed by that fact, despite she herself being in Slytherin. She'd known many great muggles- she'd lived in a town mostly full of them! Her grandmother was a muggle! Some of her friends were muggles, and she couldn't see why someone who happened to borne of muggle parents couldn't have 'pure' blood. In the end, it just didn't matter to Gunilda if someone was magical or not, that was just the way she saw things.

Then, she turned her attention to the Hufflepuff girl with brown hair who spoke next, voicing the same question that had been lurking in the back of her mind since the sorting. Was the hat ever wrong? Ever since she had been placed in Slytherin, she hadn't really felt out of place, but she didn't exactly feel as if she fitted in either. She wasn't a bad person either, she just knew she wasn't! Sure she may pull a few pranks and forget her manners, but in all, that wasn't really bad, right? Gunilda lifted her head up slightly, curious dark blue eyes looking towards the teacher, instead of for once, barely glancing at her parchment or looking lazily out of the window.

She had read a bit, though she had focused more on charms. She wanted to know who Harry Potter and Voldemort were, but didn't want to ask. She decided to wait until everyone seemed done with their questions to ask, just in case someone asked it before her.
She flinched when the Hufflepuff girl talked about blood status and put her head down.

I will keep quiet.
You won’t even know I’m here.
You won’t suspect a thing.
You won’t see me in the mirror.
But I crept into your heart...
You can’t make me disappear-

Morven sat up a little straighter during the entire lecture. She wrinkled her nose. What was that ginger Hufflepuff implying- that the Hat had somehow made a mistake, that it even could make mistakes? The Hat didn't make mistakes. It just didn't. "The Hat's never wrong," she said coolly, raising her hand as she spoke. It wasn't like she was asking a question- but maybe it would stop the professor from immediately telling her to be quiet. "Do you think Potter himself was the height of daring and chivalry at age eleven?" she continued. "Of course not. The Hat can see into your very mind. It puts you in the house it thinks you'll do best in- and it's up to you as to how you handle that. Why do you think it takes forever to decide for some people? It doesn't just decide on some whim." Her tone was on that edge between insolent and light. That Hufflepuff girl had a smooth, pleasant expression. Morven, naturally paranoid, didn't buy it for an instant. She'd seen it on her sisters many times, whenever they were restraining themselves from saying something rude. She didn't really have that level of self control, but she was working on it.

YOU WILL NEVER SEE ME CRY.

((I am so, so, sorry for Morven. She's being horribly rude.))

You’ll never know what hit you...
Won’t see me closing in...
I’m gonna make you suffer...
This hell you put me in!
I’m underneath your skin...
The devil within...
I will be here;
When you think you’re all alone.

Calaena listened to the questions. She was curious about things as well but some of the questions really peaked her interest. "Well. you would think that every once in awhile the hat is wrong. But you also have to think, maybe it can see into the future. So much magic was poured into the hat in it's creation right? Maybe some of the magic combined and it can see how you might become? But even that's really very bizarre." She said with her raised hand... She was quite curious about the hat, but also was curious about the design.

Camila scrunched up her nose as she leaned forward on her desk; her chubby cheeks were smushed up against the palm of her hand as she held her head up to try and keep from falling asleep in class. She didn't particularly care for history, or the hat, or about blood purity. She gave a dry laugh at a few of the responses of students trying to understand the meaning of the magic behind the mysterious talking hat that supposedly spends all of it's time writing songs until it was undusted and unlocked from the cupboard it belonged in. She yawned and sighed loudly. She couldn't wait for dismisal.

It seemed work on a similar basis to the aptitude tests mentioned in 'Divergent', but the Hat didn't pose a series of choices for one to make so it could determine where one belonged. Somehow it seemed to know where best to put one, or at least where it thought one belonged.

"How does the Sorting Hat work, Professor?" Dani asked, "And what would happen if one could be placed in more than one House? What about a clever lion or a hardworking Raven? What would happen to somebody if the Hat couldn't come up with a decision?"

                                                                    ════════════════════════

Eugene had arrived to the classroom just in time and sat down to the second row. His jade eyes has a hint of curiosity and wonder, just like what he always was then reading some of the books before school started or then looking at the windows of the shops in the Diagon Alley. He quickly took some key notes in his parchment as the professor spoke. Rowena Ravenclaw... the founder of Ravenclaw, he always saw her statue in the tower. For some reason he felt a strange feeling when looking at that statue, but that's just him.

He read the History book about Hogwarts but some people like Voldemort and Harry Potter was making him unsure. Who exactly were they? All he knew about them is that Voldemort's a bad guy, and Harry Potter defeated him. That's all. He sighed and wanted to ask who they were, but there are people who born within the Magic World and might see him as stupid, so he didn't ask at second thought.

He felt a worrysome feeling about Cathy, when she asked something about blood statuses. It looks like she was trying to figure it out by herself, he thought. Well, looks like he has nothing to hide anymore. Looks like someone's going to be responsible for that, and he's pretty sure it wasn't him.... He hoped.

He raised an eyebrow on the Hufflepuff girl, she questioned if the Sorting Hat ever made mistakes, she even mistook that the Ravenclaw's patron animal was a Raven when it's actually an Eagle, according to one experience sixth year prefect. He was supposed to question his own house he was sorted to until one Slytherin girl answered her question bluntly, followed by the Gryffindor 'They do have a point,' he thought and he's pretty sure that the hat really is wise. The hat even said about something what the student's cores are. While the Sorting Head has on a student's head, it said something about them, which might be possibly the traits that qualify them to a specific house.

Aside from enhancing the student's strengths, it may be a challenge. Even if he DID qualify as a Ravenclaw, he had to deal with the people around him and that's not easy.

Iris shrugged. "I think that it really must make mistakes sometimes, even if only rarely. I mean, I doubt Peter Petegrew betrayed his friends to Voldemort because he was brave," Iris pointed out. "And even if it somehow can see into the future....even experienced seers don't get everything right every time."

"Having fun,"

Gunilda after listening for a while, decided to chip in, stating her opinion on the sorting hat;"I agree with her, the sorting hat has to make mistakes. Like"- Gunilda glanced towards the brown haired girl, not knowing her name still- "she said, even seers can make mistakes, so why shouldn't the sorting hat?" She folded her arms continuing; "And even then, you can't simply judge a person's whole character by certain traits a person may have, that's ludicrous. People such as Peter Pettigrew and Severus Snape were great examples of that." Gunilda drummed her fingers on her desk quietly, her opinion made quite clear. The sorting hat or any magical object could make mistakes- it was just the way the world worked afterall, not everything was perfect in this world.

" You're all missing the point." She blurted out, she couldn't help herself. "Pettigrew was a coward then, yes, and of course the hat knew. It was like Morven said, it depends on how you react to your placement. The hat did what was best for him, to try and show him he could be courageous. It's not the hat's fault that the old bloke didn't listen to him." She nodded affirmatively. She couldn't understand why it even mattered, if anything, she was more interested in the founding fathers of the school. They're accomplishments and their secrets hiding in the school.

Hidden secret treasures trumps a stupid singing hat any day.

"Having fun,"

The girl who spoke next certainly had a point, Gunilda had to admit that, but even then, she couldn't see why the sorting hat couldn't ever be wrong. She shrugged turning her attention to Camila;"That's true, after all, it's our actions that define us, not the traits we may have. But still, nothing's perfect, so I don't see why the sorting hat couldn't slip up now and again, you never know for sure right?" Gunilda stood her ground over her opinion, stubborn as ever. Dipping her hand into her bag and retrieving her quill parchment and ink and setting it onto her desk, only having just remembered that she'd need to take notes. As nothing very note worthy came to mind, she simply jotted a header 'History notes on Hogwarts' and then listed the names of the founders to begin with.

Axel was a little late, but at least he showed up. He half debated it, it seemed as pointless as Herbology, but still, there was a certain flair to the “magical” essence hiding in the world. He'd spent the last several years learning, hounding his siblings and step-mother for information, each one of them had been to Hogwarts (or will be soon,) except Marius, who was off in Durmstrang, where ever that was. He could deny he was a bit interested in the tournament for wizards, and even went out of his way to write down a few notes about it and a few other topics. But when the time for discussion came, and it seemed like an argument was about to break out, Axel did the only thing he could think of. He sat back, watched, and enjoyed. (And only slightly tempted to stir up trouble.)

After all, her opinion had already been voiced, so she simply shut her mouth and watched as the debate went on.

Hopping off her best friend's— and temporary trusted steed— back, the younger Ireham 'twin' brushed off her robes, the beaded bangles clicking and clacking against each other as she did. Dressed again in her current fashion-phase (or she thought it was a phase— Mirbonna hadn't exactly been phasing very long, so she couldn't really tell if it was a phase yet— the redhead straightened out her gear. For a post-piggyback mess, it wasn't that bad. Even she had to admit that. The wrinkles were minimal and it looked fine, if a little less than perfectly pressed. Turning to her friend, the Gryffindor took Cash's bag, holding the satchel as he worked on fixing his own appearance.

It was the least she could do, really, Bonna smiled, amused. It wasn't every best friend who consented to carry their spoiled— though admittedly fabulous— soul-sibling to class, best friends or not and the Ireham was certainly feeling very smug about having gotten to Cash first, because he was totally hers and was pretty much the same person, so there. Tossing him a once-over on his outfit, she bent to tug at a creased fold. "There," she announced, looking on approvingly. "Much better.

Handing back the bag to him, Bonna adjusted her headpiece, the red, teardrop gem hanging from the linked coronet crowning her locks glinting happily as she did so. Taking her companion's hand, the Gryffindor pulled them both in, taking a seat and listening to the lesson they were being taught.
