Fredrich chuckled as he followed after Lock. He paused when the star staggered and reached to help him, but he moved again and managed to move into the room. The detective carefully watched him as he stepped in himself, but he paused when he smelled the dishes. Hopefully they didn't burn from their time in the elevator. "Do you need any help?" he offered while opening his jacket.

He shook his head, fingers already working at slicing up the vegetables for the final dish. "No, I've got it. But thank you for asking." Never one to forget his manners, Lock worked quickly, wanting to feed his guest soon so he wouldn't be too bored. "My mother never cooked, so every time I wanted something homemade, I'd have to go over to Basil and Ellery's house. Their mom was a former champion baker, so she would make these insane amounts of dessert and we'd have to all eat it. It was a wonder we weren't overweight as kids." He chuckled, tossing some vegetables into the skillet. "Did your mother ever cook with you?"

Setting his coat on the rack, Fredrich moved to the living room and sat down on the couch with a heavy sigh. He may seemed to be fine, but he was just as tired at Lock was. He rested his chin on his gloved fist and listened to the chef recount his childhood, chuckling at it. However, his laughter and his smile dropped out of existence when he was asked about his own mother. The detective stayed quiet for a few seconds before responding, "Yes. She used to make my father and I these small sandwiches and lemonade while my dad taught me all my artistic skills like dancing and playing violin." He closed his eyes and watched the memories play like a scene from a movie in his head.

"Sounds like fun," commented Lock, dicing tomatoes. He wasn't stupid. He remembered well that Fredrich often didn't speak of his family, for reasons he didn't really know. Changing the subject, he lifted the spice he'd borrowed from the detective and smiled. "Hey, can you sprinkle this onto the vegetables while I dice them up?"

Now that he thought about it, he had to visit the hospital sometime this week. He should pick up some flowers with the approaching Valentine's Day... Let's see, he had a day off tomorrow, so he could visit then come back in time to cook.
Fredrich opened his eyes when Lock asked him for help and turned to look at him. It seemed like an unnecessary thing to have him help by just sprinkling some spice on diced vegetables, but he wouldn't argue. He got up from his seat and walked over to the blonde, taking the spice as he watched the other cut up the other ingredients.

"Thank you." Lock shuffled a bout of vegetables into the skillet and started chopping up a few stalks of celery. "Can you stir it while you're over there? Just a little bit, though." He pushed aside the pieces from the first stalk, pursing his lips and whistling a short, low tune.

"Stir? The spices?" the Austrian raised an eyebrow and looked at the spice in his hands. "With what?"

Lock breathed out slowly as he turned to stand by Fredrich. Taking the wooden spoon from the side of the skillet, he took Fredrich's hands and wrapped those long fingers around the smooth wood. "With this," he answered softly, leading the man's hand to the skillet and pulling away. "Don't worry, you don't have to stay in here for long. All I have to do is sear and season, and finish heating the noodles, and then we'll be done. Sound good?"

That wasn't what I meant, but... Fredrich looked down at the skillet before him and began stirring it. "Ah, it's fine." he said when he heard Lock talk again. "It's nice being able to cook again. Ellery used to always complain about something I was doing wrong. Eventually he forbid me from going in my kitchen."

He poured more vegetables into the skillet, picking up a pepper and chuckling. "Really? I knew he was controlling, but that's ridiculous. How did you two last so long?"

"Same way as you lived with Ethan's obsession with oranges." Fredrich responded while adding a little more spice to the skillet. "By the way, how did you live with that?"

"Willpower," he laughed, taking noodles from the fridge and starting to work them with his fingers. "I liked oranges alright when we first started dating. Now I kind of want to burn all of them in the world."

"We can get some tomorrow and burn it in the fireplace." Fredrich laughed before a thought occurred. "Oh, that reminds me, that song you gave me the other day, why did you give it to me? You said it would answer some questions, but it only brought up more, if you ask me."
