Kane Atsureki 山田野 はたけ Kirigakure || Youton || Bounty Hunter || Ranmaru || Yonha
____________________________________________ "Life is just a series of choices...
Stepping into the classroom, Kane's red-hued eyes quickly scanned the faces in the room from within the shadows of his hood. A few strands of black and red hair fell out of the shadows as he took another step into the room, his hand resting easily on the dragon-headed pommel of his sword. Walking towards the man at the front of the room, the man Kane assumed was the teacher, Kane removed the hood from his head to reveal his face. His expression was neither happy nor sad, it simply was, and as he bowed to the man he spoke in a voice equally listless, "My name is Kane Atsureki, and I was told to report here to begin training."
Standing back up to his full height, Kane turned his head once more to look into the eyes of each of the other students presence, his red-hued eyes seeming to hold fire within their depths. He could see that many were younger than him, but that was to be expected, he had after all enrolled in the academy quite late in his life compared to most. Such was the cost of running off on your own though, but there were certainly benefits as well, Kane thought to himself as he glanced down at the sword he wore at his side, the ruby jewel in the cross-guard seeming to emit its own light, as if a fire burned within its core. Turning his attention back to the teacher, Kane awaited instruction.
"... the question is, which is the right choice?"

NικɛƘσтσиɛ ナイキ 琴音 "The Sound of the Harp" ハープの傲慢な音 Hyuuga (Pending) || Academy Student || Suiton || Byakugan Doujutsu
--------------------------------------------------
"Sewn into your soul, this is out of our control..."
xxxxThe silence that emanated from Nike was louder than thunder as she took two small, carefully calculated steps into the Academy through the doorway. Her heart told her to run; her mind told her to stay. The room was full of people, and that knowledge alone was enough to make her cbattle the fight-or-flight reflex that welled up like bile in the pit of her stomach. The room was full of people. That was a fact that she would simply have to deal with. She hated people. How she hated people. She hated the knowledge that at any moment, in any given place, someone could turn on her and drag her back home, where her parents kept her under lock and key, constantly under surveillance, like some caged animal. Like a caged bird, Nike had fought to be free. But unlike most things that fight, Nike had won for the time being. She had won her freedom, and that was what brought her to the Kirigakure academy. She needed to learn how to fight, and that was a simply fact. She needed to be able to defed herself, to keep fighting for her freedom if someone were to try to bring her back to the place she had wanted so desperately to leave. xxxx“Is there someone competent here that I can learn from?” Her voice was surprisingly cold, coming from Nike’s lips, which parted only enough to let the breathy whisper pierce the sound barrier. There was a young man already standing in front of the man at the head of the classroom, but she simply didn’t care. Preserve oneself; that was the thing she obsessed over. People had died in front of her, begging for her assistance, and she had turned her back on them in cold blood. She certainly didn’t care about some boy, that much was evident from the coolly aloof way that she glanced him up and down, her eyes first resting on the hilt of his sword, carved with a dragon motif, and then on his face, shadowed by the crimson hood of his cloak. He had several stray locks of hair falling into his eyes, she noticed absently. She realized, belatedly, that she had cut the young man off, but shrugged off the thought. Since when did Nike care about social graces? She wanted an answer to her question, and she wasn’t wasting her time if someone was going to make her wait.
"...Be who you need to be; there are no others: you or me."

____________________________________________ "Life is just a series of choices...
Glancing over his shoulder at the sound of the new arrival, Kane looked the young woman up and down, his red eyes resting momentarily on her own light blue before looking forward once more. He didn't know who this woman was, but he guessed that if she kept up the attitude, her time at the Academy would not be pleasant. Kane had heard that the teachers of the Mist Academy were not ones to tolerate disrespect, and the tone with which this woman spoke was coming dangerously to being disrespectful.
Shifting his feet, Kane turned to the side his long red and black locks falling midway down his back. Getting a better look at the woman, Kane could see that she was quite beautiful, if a bit cold, with the well toned physique of a warrior. She could be a strong ally, or a terrible enemy. He hoped it would be the former, rather than the latter. Bowing his head slightly, Kane said in a careful tone, "well met, I am Kane Atsureki, and might I ask your name."
