Yeah. Christ, I can remember my first big quest was to get 20k to buy a guitar of demona. Any case, there were some problems with the old days. The saddest thing I can remember is someone made an rp where they performed the phantom of the opera in full.

... those were the good old days .. when donation items were 3k

I have to say I liked the peasant clothes. I too barely go out of guilds nowadays. It's just too hectic.

I had some people back in the day try to convince me to join a "Les Miserables" re-actment rp.

Even the exchange does not feel the same these days. I troll it from time to time just out of habit and it does not in anyway have the same feel it did years ago. It could be that my knowledge of item prices is better now, as well as my gold supply, and can smell a scam a mile away. Or that people today just don't care as they used to.

Maybe we should make an old school roleplay world here in the guild. We could petition to use the unoccupied sub-forum.

I'm waiting for good, literate "Percy and the Olympians" Roleplay.

As in the kind of World Roleplay where each thread is a different location? They used to be some of my favourite kinds of roleplays.

With my original Star Wars Roleplaying group, the original guild owner sort me out to help him with his guild because of the work I had done with friend in another. It is mainly because he needed someone with some experience to play the Dark Lord of the Sith, but it was known in the first circle of rping that I had worked tireless with that friend to create a Force Ability Points System for any Star Wars Rp- where you had a set number of points based on what your rank was. When I joined the Star Wars guild, I straight away set about getting it properly set up with decent desciptions and locations for various planets. I truly miss rping that group of guys, we had some seriously fun times.

Yeah, that sort of thing. I'm not sure what sort of world it would be, since sci fi, fantasy and more real world ideas would all be interesting..... A super hero world would be fun too.

The only two that "world rps" that I have been a part of that really worked as the Star Wars one that I "created" and a Final Fantasy based one created by a friend of mine (who used a similar layout to the one I made). The problem is that most central storyline only allow for a few characters to really move the story along while everyone does their own thing.

The problem a super hero based world, though, is that unless someone is willing to take charge of the heroes- the villians end up willing. For some reason, the villians are usually more willing to team up to take down the heroes.

I was just thinking of ones that could be as open ended as possible- maybe something to do with Pirates or Asian Warlords.

Hmm, I see your point. Too many people want to play the bad guy nowadays as well. I'm pretty sure theres people who would like to play heroes, but then you have the issue of power levels.
Asian warlords sounds good, as does pirates. I think the pirates idea could work in space as well. So long as it didnt get too similar to Star Wars.

Well as long as there is not the force, then space pirates could easily be free from becoming like Star Wars. The best thing about the Star Wars universe is that has a HUGE range of races, ships, weapons, items and possible stories. As much as it has been done to death, if an original storyline was made up- any Star Wars roleplay would be good.

The biggest issue with a space roleplay, as with all world roleplays, is time to travel. It takes time to travel from one place to another, so to over come that problem I made it mandatory to post in an "open space/ hyperspace" thread when traveling from place to place. That meant that you had to do atleast two posts in there before you reached your destination.

On the just a normal Pirate World Rp, it presents an interesting situation though. There would be threads for ports, islands and coves, but you could also have threads for particular ships- so instead of flooding one thread with the details of what happens on your ship while on your ship, they would all be in neat location so your crew could easily follow along. Which then would mean sea battles could take place "on the ship" or in a specialised thread for a battle between the two or more ships.

With the Asian Warlord idea, there are endless possible ways to play it. Either as various bands of Warlords trying to conquer a land, each group starting off with a set location as their base and then fighting over the other areas until one reigns. This idea then has a follow on storyline in what happens after one Warlord takes oer and a rebellion starts.
Another way to do is that there is a Warlord in place already and their a factions forming below him to either take the power for themselves or to free the country from the power. Which then creates a follow from story in the aftermaths.

Also, all these ideas are just coming off the top of my head as I type.

Wow, I really enjoyed reading your ideas. I know a guy who ended up playing half the villains in the first part of the RP in my signature. And then he killed them all off for the second part. Kinda funny.

But yeah, unless you can teleport or warp, you can spend an excruciating amount of time just traveling. Or my favorite, witty back-and-forth banter,

Another idea would be an original world fantasy which combines different echelons of power. That way you could have warlords, independent heroes, emperors, bars, traders... loads of ways to play that can thread back and forth. For example, a warlord could hire a hero to their army as a morale booster, while traders and emperors could take part in complex politics.

We did that at the end of our second story arc in the Star Wars roleplay. But, it was everyone we killed off in an epic battle the took place on a planet's surface and in the sky. Of all the chacater death's I have done, the death of Magnus Ignatius the Dark Lord of the Sith was by far the greatest one of them all. He fought of about 6 jedis, managed to escape from the planets surface during an orbital bombardment, rallied his fleet of fighters behind him, took out a few star cruisers by crashing his cruiser into it, was shot down out of the skies shortly after he narrowly escaped his suicide bombing cruiser and then, after he was lying almost completely dead from the crash landing, had the burning remains of the star cruiser explode a few meters above his body and the entire mass of steel and flames crashing down on the charred remains of his body. It was so epic, that it was one two times in my entire time roleplaying that I was completely emotionally drained by typing it.

Edit:: Skreemer, you will have to explain that a bit more for me. I don't follow exactly what you mean.

*peeks in, then goes and snuggles with someone while bundled up in a big blanket*
I'm going to raid the closet, here in a bit, to add more blankets to my bed. My big fluffy comforter is not enough *sniffle* emo

Well imagine having a huge world with three or four distinct civilisations, each with their own major leaders. In these, there are barbarian warlords, renegade generals and the rulers own forces. Then there are assorted wandering heroes with their own distinct weapons, personalities and abilities who are available for different tasks, based on their fame and rankings. Then you have merchants who are involved in trading, politics and the like. And then the rest of the people. who do stuff like farming, owning bars, running shops and acting as soldiers.
