Jounouchi was quiet as he stuck his head in the room, raising his eyebrows in genuine surprise when he saw Kaiba sleeping instead of working. Despite himself, he smiled softly, thinking Kaiba looked infinitely more likable when he was asleep like this. He pulled out of the room without a word, closing the door behind him with a soft click.
((You were still on? o.o I remember clicking out when I saw you get on, but guess you got back on? Oh well, at least it still happened. XD
Alright, well when I originally came up with this plot, I intended for the mom to die, but now that I think about it a coma would probably be better. Not only will it keep us from having to deal with things like custody changes and funeral arrangements, but it will also make it so Shizuka is not a complete and utter emotional wreck for the entirety of the RP. I mean, obviously it will still be hard on her, but it will still just be a temporary change, and once she calms down from the shock, she can probably start to focus on becoming more of a plot-involved character.))

"What are you doing here?"
The gruff, bleary-eyed greeting her father had given still had Shizuka a little unsettled. Even 15 minutes later as she stood alone in her brother's room, looking around at his odd trinkets and small collection of photos. She was a bit confused about what her brother was doing at the home of Kaiba Seto, she was fairly certain they weren't friends. However the death glare she'd received from her dad upon initial inquiry immediately halted further questioning. After finding a reason to excuse herself she'd made a quick call to Anzu, hoping the other girl could help her track down her brother. She'd wanted to stay in the family apartment, but not without Jou.
Shizuka jumped as Jounouchi Tetsuo barged into the room. She took a deep breath and tried to convince herself that her brother was just paranoid in keeping her away, that her own father wouldn't actually hurt her, especially for no reason. This didn't stop her from trembling slightly as the man approached.

"Hey man, how's Kaiba doing, not over-exerting himself with that laptop is he?" Hiroto asked as Jounouchi re-entered the room. When informed the hothead was actually sleeping he actually paused to consider whether or not he was prepared for the end of the world. Before he could entertain the greater part of his shock and mirth his cell rang, and as the caller ID listed Anzu he paused the jokes to answer it.
"Hey, how are you doing?" he initially greeted, "wait what? When?" he glanced up at Jounouchi apprehensively as Anzu finished explaining to him that for some unknown reason Jou's little sister was alone at the apartment with her father. Having usually hosted Shizuka, Anzu knew enough to find the situation odd, though she clearly didn't feel the level of fear Hiroto himself was. To say nothing of how Jounouchi would react once he found out.
"Ok thanks Anzu, I'm with him now so I'll let him know," Hiroto quickly ended his conversation and turned to his now puzzled friend.
He wasn't sure how to say it, but as he didn't want to waste any time he simply blurted out, "your sister is here, rather your sister is at your apartment. With your dad." Hiroto stood up as the color drained out of his best friend's face, afraid that he might actually faint.
((I was on straight from before when you updated until about half after midnight, however I was doing that Pie thing stressed so I didn't see that you were on or that you updated until around midnight.
Sounds good...I'll let you decide how you want to orchestrate that.
weird talking to myself, the one hitch to my Shizuka show up alone plan))

"...what...?" Jounouchi's face was completely white, "You're... you're shitting me, right?" when he received a head-shake from Honda, he suddenly dashed for the door, "I'm going to get her. Stay here and watch Kaiba. Tell Mokuba what's going-, no, make something up. Just like my sister had a place to stay in town but she got canceled on, so I'm picking her up and bringing her here, or just whatever works." he looked pale, but otherwise relatively expressionless as he said this, his mind too busy calculating the scenario, how he would handle it and his father, what he would say to Shizuka, what Honda should tell Mokuba, among other things, to put effort into also figuring out the appropriate facial expressions for all that was suddenly thrown at Jounouchi.
((Lawl, stupid pie thing.
Kay, I'll give it some time for Shizuka to settle here first. Maybe also for Jounouchi to get a little more... accepted into the Kaiba household.
Hey, at least it's not a sex scene. Now that is just awkward to do by yourself, like masturbating in front of someone. XD))

Hiroto sighed as Jounouchi ran off in a panic, he wanted to follow him. He figured Kaiba would be fine. Jounouchi probably wouldn't agree though, and he didn't want to slow him down forcing his friend to argue. So he sat back down and started to play another game, yet paused it to check on Kaiba after about 2 minutes. Just because he felt that was unnecessary didn't change the fact that he was unable to just sit alone here anymore.
He found the CEO asleep upon entering the room, which was eerily enchanting. It was ruined moments later when Hiroto accidentally stubbed his toe, wailed, and woke the sleeping man up.
"What are you doing in here?" Kaiba demanded.
Hiroto sighed and answered, truthfully since he figured Kaiba already knew enough back story at this point anyhow, "apparently Jou's sister got the bright idea to just surprise him at the apartment. However the only one at the apartment was..."
"Their father," Kaiba said tersely. With a heavy sigh he crawled out of bed.
"Wait, what are you doing? Get back here," Hiroto called after the taller man as he left the bedroom.

"There," Seto said to the driver, pointing at the blond man running down the street ahead of them. Hiroto spun around, as he'd been combing the other side of the street for his friend. The driver swiftly moved to pull the limo over in front of the runner.
Seto interrupted Jounouchi's face off with the limo by commanding him to get in, forcing the other man to actually take note of who had interferred with his mad dash home.
((I know! Expensive as heck too considering the kinda lame prizes. But I haven't felt very inclined to buy anything lately so what the hey, figured I'd finish it.
Uhh...right... ninja ))

Jounouchi turned breathlessly to look at the limo that had pulled up next to him when he heard his name being hailed. He rose his eyebrows in surprise, definitely not having expected to see Kaiba up and about. He jogged over to the open door, peeking in and seeing Honda as well, "..." he then frowned to himself. Did Kaiba know the current situation? Should he know it? He wasn't sure how to ask his next question without knowing what Kaiba knew, but finally he decided there just wasn't enough time to fret over it, "Are you offering to drive me to my house?" he didn't want to get into the limo unless he knew this to be true.
((Yeah, I always come out worse in terms of gold and items after doing events, but I do them anyway because it makes me feel better. XD))

"No," Seto drawled exasperated, "I'm here to take you to the ball. Yes I'm taking you to get your sister, get in the damn vehicle already!" However, not willing to wait for Jounouchi to catch up he grabbed him by the collar and hauled him into the vehicle, depositing his lank frame onto the bench seat next to him. The blockhead had to make everything difficult he thought to himself as he ordered the driver to get moving.

Jounouchi yelped as he was forced into the vehicle, practically falling into Kaiba's lap before he was straightened on the seat. He blinked as the driver took off, glancing at Kaiba, looking disoriented for just a quick moment before he set a glare on the other, then turned the same glare to Honda. It was both suspicious and annoyed, first wondering how much Honda had told Kaiba, and second feeling angry that he had told Kaiba anything to begin with.

Having given his driver directions to the Jounouchi residence before they'd even found the blond, Seto reclined back against the seat, gaze focused out the window. He had no intention of indulging in conversation for the remainder of the ride if at all possible.

Hiroto grinned sheepishly at his friend, though he wasn't sorry about the way things were playing out. Jounouchi could be a bit stupid when it came to protecting his sister, and he was glad for the opportunity to accompany his friend and make sure everything went alright.

Jounouchi definitely wanted to confront Honda about this what seemed to be a betrayal of his trust, but felt that that conversation could get too personal, so let it be for now. He instead, needing an outlet, focused his anger on Kaiba, "And why are you out of bed?" he huffed, "And why did you even decide to come over and help me?" he was visibly annoyed, though also still confused.

Hiroto winced at the look of betrayal Jounouchi shot his way, but there was nothing he could do about it for the moment. He just starred down at his lap and prepared himself for whatever they might have to deal with at the apartment.

Seto just rolled his eyes at Jounouchi's whiny complaints before answering sarcastically, "well gee I wouldn't want you to run off, get yourself in trouble, and I actually have to resume my normal life once more. These past couple of days have just been the time of my life."
Truthfully he wasn't sure why he'd hauled himself out of bed and after the iritating blond. He wasn't about to sit here and answer the 'why' questions to himself, he most certainly wasn't about to admit anything seriously to Jounouchi.

Jounouchi was stumped for a moment, not sure how to respond to that. The confusion derived from the fact that Kaiba was obviously speaking sarcastically, yet he was being sarcastic about wanting to do something that he... actually did. It was like a contradiction, so Jounouchi wasn't sure exactly what Kaiba was trying to convey with that message. Maybe he hadn't been sarcastic? But that would be even crazier than Kaiba coming here for Jounouchi, even though not doing so could've only benefited him. Deciding to just look at it simply and pretend Kaiba hadn't been being sarcastic, Jounouchi just crossed his arms stubbornly and dodged around the topic as Kaiba had already been doing, "I wasn't gonna get myself in trouble..." he muttered, "I was just going home real quick..."

"Mmm," Seto murmured, after which the remainder of the ride passed silently. A few minutes later the driver pulled over in front of the rundown apartment building, garnering a great deal of attention from the children and teens lurking outside. Jounouchi practically flew out of the limo, and while Seto had no doubt he expected to go up on his own, both Honda and himself determinedly climbed out after him.

Jounouchi immediately turned around as soon as he heard the limo doors opening and closing. He first gave Kaiba an annoyed look, then one to Honda that essentially said 'you should know better.' He crossed his arms stubbornly, "Go ahead and get back in to wait in the car. I'll be quick." he sounded as if he were being polite, letting them wait outside, but it was obvious he really just didn't want them in his apartment.

Seto had already done his homework, and he knew exactly which apartment the Jounouchi family resided in. Not wasting time even pretending to argue with the blond he just walked past him and into the building.

If the situation weren't so serious Hiroto might have laughed at the flabbergasted expression on his best friend's face as the rich b*****d CEO just strutted past him. Instead he just commented, "look we don't have the time to stand here and argue, you aren't going in there alone, things are a lot likelier to end up just smoothly grabbing your sister and bailing as a group anyhow. It's not like anyone here is unaware of what we are walking into."
That said he lightly shoved Jounouchi forwarded and hurried after Kaiba.

Jounouchi looked at Honda and Kaiba in exasperation. If he wasn't panicking to get Shizuka out of his house right now, he would be staying here and arguing them to stay to the death. But Honda was right, and he couldn't disagree with his points. It just wasn't worth delaying any longer. So instead of saying anything more, he compromised with his morals and his pride by running ahead to overtake Kaiba and at least get to the door first.
Making it up the stairs, he hesitated for only the smallest moment before trying the handle. It was unlocked, as always, so he stepped right in, making sure to close the door mostly behind him to show that, no, Kaiba and Honda were not invited into his apartment. He knew it wouldn't stop them though.
