He was positive that she was the one who was really good that making potions and the one in Herbology Class, and the one who slid a paper to him. He smiled before he slowly shifted the lower part of his parchment and the paper was filled with notes, definitely about the lesson discussed right now. When the teacher wasn't looking, he shifted his parchment slightly and diligently wrote down the notes that were needed. Grayson looked up from his book as he noticed the students coming in. He didn't know how long he had been sitting reading, but the effect was always the same. Usually it would end with him being confused about what was going on, but today was different. He was supposed to be teaching the class, and as usual, it left him a bit awkward as to how to go about it. He however decided to go about doing it the simple way.
"Hello, class, and welcome to History of Magic. I am your professor, Grayson Powell. In this class, there is no wandwork, since magic doesn't help you to learn about history. Therefore, your wands will need to be put away." He stood, taking his feet from off the desk and faced the children directly. "History is a collection of events, as I'm sure you are all well aware of. However, these events help to shape the world around us. If not for the witch burnings of the sixteen hundreds, we would not have the Statue of Secrecy. If not for the crises of the last century, we would not have cooperation of all magical folk." He glanced around the class, letting his gaze fall over each of the students. "Now, can someone tell me, besides what I have stated, why history needs to be learned?"

Dylan Burgamy / First year / 11 / Ravenclaw / Half-blood Dylan had already been in the class for a few minutes when the professor had started instructing the class. He'd already had his wand put away because, like the professor said, why need it in a history class? He propped his elbow up on the desk, his chin resting on it as he listened, tilting his head to the side in thought.
He propped himself up a bit when the question was asked. He raised his hand to be noticed and said the first thought that came to mind: "To learn from our past mistakes so wed don't make them again?"

Location: History : Monday (1:00pm to 1:45pm) Mira walked into her history class knowing that if she didn't go she'd never hear the end of it. She was never one for history so to come to a class all about it wasn't on her top list of things to do. Regardless here she was sitting in the back of her history class. Taking notes quietly all while rolling her eyes at the conversation. 'Why do we have to learn it...' Mira questioned herself quietly. It made no sense to her the past was over and done with. Who really needed to remember things that happened that far back. She certainly didn't... maybe it was a good thing she wasn't speaking... Status: Boring.... With: Classmates Wearing: Slytherin Uniform OOC: --- Spice the Rat Anger and resentment, A dark path you tread, I would be careful, young one, But, I know where you belong... Slytherin!

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXMy silence was the silence, silence of rocks, My silence, it was the silence of the stones, Rocks and stones, Rocks, stones and trees; Of the landscapes Full of ups and downs. ❝Timothy walked into the History classroom with his usual notebook already in hand while he looked for a place to sit. He spotted Lily already there and gave her a grin and wave before taking an empty seat besides her still not seeing Benjamin anywhere. He better not be already trying to skip, it was only the first week! He only sighed and got his quill and parchment out ready for notes when the professor merely wanted them to understand why they needed to learn history and asked them that very question. Only one person had answered so far and he did have an idea but he didn't think the professor knew sign language or that he would want to read his note so he just kept quiet. ❞ After the all commotion, [Uniform] Ruffle and rustle, [History classroom] Saw I silence, [Class] All quiet and silently [Learning] Prevailing upon. Oh you should've stayed home. You should've known better! First Year and Probably Purer Blood than Your Bloodline.
Wand: Hazel and Merpeople Scales, Inflexible, Decorated Shaft, 9 1/2 inches in length Wearing: My Uniform ----------------------------------------------------------- Wendy confidently strode into the classroom and took a seat next to Mira, remembering what their fellow Slytherin, Camilia, had said in regards to the class. And, there was the fact that Cathaline had apparently had the professor wrapped around her finger which meant that it was unlikely the professor would appreciate anything but some overly positive analysis about things or whatever. Wendy pulled out a leatherbound notebook and a quill and listened as the professor began the class and introduced the question on why history needs to be learned.
Some Ravenclaw boy offered the typical 'so we don't make the same mistakes' spiel more or less except he acted if the past had much to do with what they currently did. Surpressing an eye roll and a scoff she glanced at the Ravenclaw and then to the professor, "I hardly say history has much to do with our own individual mistakes. It would be more accurate to say we should learn history so we learn from astronomical mistakes people made that ended their ambitions way too early. It's best to learn history to learn from others' mistakes. We're a bit young, after all, to be put on the overarching history timeline."
She raised a brow and picked up her quill, already deciding she hated the class. You thought you were gonna throw it back in my face, but tell me how do my leftovers taste!

Dylan Burgamy / Ravenclaw / First year / 11 / Half-blood Dylan looked to the side as another girl suddenly spoke up, in what he thought as quite rude. He furrowed his eyebrows together, but looked back to the front of the class, deciding to pay little mind to it. He thought back to the sorting, where he recalled that she had been sorted into Slytherin. He remembered his mother not wanting him to be put into that house, due to the occupants having a reputation for being arrogant, stuck-up snobs. Seemed like this particular individual lived up to that rumor. He sighed and propped his elbow up onto the desk again, tapping the tips of his fingers against his cheek. More by chance Seymour had shown up as early as he did for History of Magic. Seeing Timothy sitting with Lily he smiled as he stretched taking his time to sit down listening as a Ravenclaw offered the traditional response and the redhead in his house, Wendy, he thought it was, offered some snarky correction about it being more about learning from the mistakes of others.
"El almuerzo no era incluso hace una hora," Seymour sighed sitting down getting a narrowed glare from Wendy. "What? We just had lunch. Don't you have better things to pick apart technicalities like 'our' 'others' and so on and so forth." Rolling his eyes he shrugged and propped his chin up on his hand. He was an argumentative person, sure, but at least he didn't pick petty arguments like the redhead seemed to want to. Someone should just knock her off her high horse quick before she got stuck there or whatever.
He gave an apologetic shrug to Timothy and Lily. He probably shouldn't have said anything, but rudeness could go only so far before it just got on Seymour's nerves. He glanced over at Dylan who looked a bit taken back and said with a wave of his hand, "Just ignore la pelirroja, her pillow was probably not properly fluffed for her or some nonsense. Besides, even if she is right about the learning from others aspect, someday we'll just be the others in history future people can learn from." Meanwhile Wendy shot Seymour a death glare for a moment before crossing her arms and glancing away clearly annoyed, but not bothering to say anything, as if to show she was superior to him or anyone else.Translations: El almuerzo no era incluso hace una hora---Lunch was not even an hour ago. la pelirroja-the redhead (female) ----------------------------------------------------------- Wand: Curupay Wood with a Pixie Wing Core, Pliable and Bent 3/4 Magical Linage.

Age:Eleven Wand:11 1/2inches, Maple, and Dragon Heartstring Pet: Artemis Arianna glanced around the class looking for a place to sit. She didn't see anyone she recognized yet so she made her way to an empty chair. She plopped down just in time to finish hearing the spiel the professor made. She considered answering the question but a Ravenclaw boy beat her to it. She waited to hear the correct answer from the professor.

Of course she would have some remark, sadly to Gen it only made her sound stupider than before. Genevieve decided to take a seat near Ben but not exactly beside him she scoffed lightly and rolled her eyes. "Actually her technicality has faults, most rewarding families come from long bloodlines. A true witch or wizard would acknowledge her families mistakes as her own. In my opinion their mistakes are inherited as are own, as are most things in family. " Genevieve could not help but smirk at Wendy's reaction to Ben's words. Though she still could not see how someone as nice as Ben got stuck in slytherin.
Genevieve stood from her seat, facing the proffesor now. History happened to be something she quite enjoyed. Learning where things came from and such was a very important detail to her curious nature. She cleared her throat slightly and smiled. "If I may add, not only does it provide a lesson from previous mistakes. But without history we would not make sense of many things, it is history that gives us a better understanding of our world. For example without history wandmakers would not be very good at their jobs. Or things like the sorceress's stone would have had no value but simply been a rock. History gives purpose to many objects and people. Or at least that is what I think of it. " A small blush came to her cheeks, realizing she spoke to much, but it was not enough to wipe the smirk off her face as she took a seat again.

❋Benjamin Rivers-Blakely❋ First year|Ravenclaw|11
⊗⊗⊗⊗⊗ He walked into the class, looking at the teacher for a few moments and then listening very closely. He took in everything the teacher said and then watched as everything seemed to unfold. He saw as a kid had indeed answered and it was an okay answer, but then one of the Slytherin's seemed to try to pick it apart as if she had any room to do so. If the boy truly needed to be corrected, then the professor would have done it. The girl lacked manners truly. Benjamin almost was at the point where he himself would nitpick on the technicality that she had tried to elaborate on. But then again, that would make him no better than the girl that had done so; so he did not do it.
He did raise his hand however, feeling like he had something to add onto the conversation. "I believe that we learn history because of its subjectivity. Its subjectivity allows us to form our own point of view so that we may see certain events in history differently then say, the person sitting next to me. Just like how in England, the Revolutionary War is taught much more negatively than the Americans must teach it. It allows us to make our own spin on it I guess is what I'm saying," he said confidently, not really caring if someone bothered to attempt to nitpick it. They can go ahead. If he was wrong, he was wrong. It wasn't like it would be the end of the world. ⊗⊗⊗⊗⊗
