Well see, there always turns out to be a God vaguely involved in the war though. I think the first handheld game had them fighting Persians, but then someone was like "If you got this thing from the land of the dead, it'd be a big help~"
So Kratos goes ahead and murders Hecate. >_> And a bunch of other little demi-gods. All just so he can go back and murder the Persians, which he could have done in the first place, he just wanted a bigger gun to do it with.

Granted, in Greek Myths, there usually WAS a God involved with a conflict (Trojan War, Sparta vs. Athens, etc.), so that's really not weird. 'S not like Olympus was always portrayed as being in harmony. More like... Zeus permits sides to be taken, as long as it doesn't get TOO out of control, in which case he'll put a stop to it. Because he's Zeus. The God-King and King-God who beat the Titans himself and is basically stronger than all the rest of them put together. XD
