Now that he was here, he could see that every locker in the room had been opened and the room upturned. It was quite a mess and made him wonder if the same people who tore through Arel's office had paid a visit to this room as well. Though what caught his eye wasn't so much the lockers, rather than the boxes strewn across the floor. Though perhaps he should say, it was the names on the boxes that had his attention.
There were some--several in fact, that he recognized. But one in particular had his attention. Kneeling before it, Tybalt brushed over the name etched into it, reading aloud--
"Skylar..."
So, this box belonged to Skylar? That intrigued him. He hadn't seen what happened to gargoyle, but he had an idea. Perhaps by opening the box he could find answers. Maybe even some clues to finding Mei. But not here. The longer he stayed, the more paranoid he got. He could take it back to his dorm and examine the contents after. For now, he needed to get out of here. Though not before he glanced over the odd marking burned into a room and the words etched below it.

The office was a much less rambunctious place than it used to be. Quiet purpose and efficiency had replaced chaos and rushed hurry. No stacks of paperwork tottered precariously by, carried by tiny gnome feet. No Acceptance Bin wreaking sweet havoc. Instead just a few people working, keeping any talk to a quiet murmur. In comparison it might have seemed subdued, though no one seemed unhappy or downtrodden. The headmaster's door was closed, but as the boils approached a monotone voice called, "Enter," before they could even knock or try the handle. Professor Emrys, acting Headmaster in Hellma's absence, gave them a blandly disappointed look before gesturing for them to sit. "Please explain yourselves."

Deacon thought that, just maybe, he should have kept his mouth shut. That was a thought very belated, because it didn't really hit him until he was standing in the office. Specifically, when a voice called from the headmaster's office that didn't sound attractive or feminine in any way.
Resigning himself to knowing that the fun was most certainly over, the bakeneko reluctantly stepped through the door first and dropped down into a chair in front of the desk.
He looked up to Professor Emrys, ears tilted back in a less than pleased manner. "He started it," Deacon said in immediate dismissal, jerking a thumb toward JD. "Professor Winter needs to lighten up." Lightening up about what was information he wasn't immediately willing to give.

JD had strolled up to the headmaster's office with the swagger of someone whose father had an awful lot of money and was used to utilizing it to get him out of virtually any predicament. It was oddly peaceful here, especially compared to the sort of haphazardness of the rest of the school grounds. In a word: boring. He tried to remember who the headmaster was. He was pretty sure that, like many other things about the school, he had basically no idea. Surprisingly, it hadn't been something he'd had to worry about until now. JD shot Deacon a sidelong glance that was two parts butthurt and one part not cool, bro."Whatever dude. She was like, totally buggin'. Wasn't my fault." He crossed his arms behind his head and jutted out one hip sullenly. "'sides, it was a stupid class. Etiquette is for squares, man."

"Etiquette," the professor commented quietly, "is necessary to move freely in society." He blinked slowly before continuing, "How well do you think you would do here, without looks or money or..." he gestured vaguely toward JD, "the fleeting nature of fame to help you?"

"If it's something that was so important, she seemed pretty quick to give us the boot." Deacon answered, leaning back in his chair and eying Emrys' desk in serious contemplation of propping his feet up on it.
"Maybe Professor Winter should be in here too, for not fulfilling her given duties to her students."

"Heh. Duties." As for the rest, well. He ran one hand through his majestic and immaculate mullet, tossing it over his shoulder. It obviously didn't apply to him, so it wasn't worth considering. What would life be like if he was a square? Probably really lame. Not unlike - He shot the other boil a sidelong, almost piteous glace. "I dunno, ask him."

The tabby was just sitting there with a dumb grin on his face, clearly having a blast digging his own grave.
While Deacon might not have been famous, he was certainly gifted in the looks and money department... Wait. Scratch that last one. His parents were being stingy and he was broke.
One of the bakeneko's ears swiveled toward JD before the boil's gaze followed and his head turned to look at him, his eyes narrowing in mild offense. "Ask me? The ******** is that supposed to mean?"

" The f-bomb is that supposed to mean?" JD repeated in a squeaky, lilting voice. "What do you think, homeslice?" He leaned forward, s**t eating grin plastered across his face.

That son of a-
Deacon almost looked stunned that JD had the nerve, and then he just looked really upset about it. As the other boil leaned toward him it was like an invitation to do something to wipe that irritating look right off his face.
So Deacon lunged forward in his seat and reached for one of JD's horns, his other hand balling into a fist at his side. Aiming to jerk the boil toward him headfirst, the demon intended to either detach his chosen handhold or bring JD's face closer for hitting. Whichever happened first.

JD's expression did not change, but he did spare the cat demon an especially lewd wink.

And then Deacon violently drove his knuckles into JD's nose right there in Emrys' presence.

"That is quite enough, I believe," the professor intoned. With an oddly graceful gesture the world around the fighting students grew heavy and warm. Their movements slowed to sluggishness, their breathing labored and harsh, full of odd grunts. Should one happen to take a good look at the other, they would find a very different boil looking back. "Come back once you've regained Professor Winter's respect."
