He is quite hot. I did rather hate the character Will Turner up until near the end of the second movie? But I never denied he was wonderful eye candy. By the end of the trio (which I really REALLY hope remains a Trio - Hollywood needs to learn when to let something end with dignity - and not just kill it until they can squeeze every last penny out of a franchise) I rather liked every character. There aren't too many things I can say that about.

Hmm...whipping, that is smexy...and of course has NOTHING to do with why I love him now, NOTHING AT ALL!!! razz

Weird dream...don't remember most of it, I think the fanfic Inescapable You combined with the Gaia holiday event - in space, haha. Not sure what the why was but Yami no Bakura and Yami no Malik (specifically) dashes off to Mars - for some hideous prank that nonetheless will bring chaos and despair to all, Jou and Seto need to build a spaceship to go off and stop them, they don't get along well though so this is a rather entertaining process.

The dream then has something to do with bears...bears in space, who are hyper intelligent and have special command abilities related to being space bears (who were originally Earth bears, they are not native to space).

Then all the YGO characters disappear, Bones characters appear and it becomes some random prequel to that entire series - in which Bones has a husband whose "still alive" at this point (I think in the show the premises was divorce? This implies to me though that he dies sooooo different). Somehow there is a murderer, intergalactic travel (not an element to the actual show) and Bones is in trouble.

If it weren't for the interwoven theme of space bears playing throughout both dreams I'd assume they are different...but alas...bears trump all!

And yea that's all I remember, no idea what the point is, I'm very confused. Also, I think at some point elephants became involved, I just don't remember how.

annnnnnnd...MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! rofl

I agree with you completely on your feelings for Will Turner. As for Miss Swan, I actually liked her in the first movie, hated her in the second, then only thought she was okay by the third... other than that I like most of the characters.
Yeah, I think I'm good with the trilogy alone. XD
You know what else was hot? Dimmesdale whipping himself in The Scarlet Letter as a form of punishment. XD Everyone in high school thought I was weird for liking him so much, because they all thought he was a whiny tool, which he was, but that was exactly why I liked him. XD

Sounds like a pretty awesome dream. XD Hurray for Inescapable You influencing your sleep! I don't see how that involves the Gaia holiday event though...

I am pretty sure I liked her initially too, I mean as I didn't like Will originally I wasn't jealous, and her role was done nicely. But I think she did start to irritate me at points later in the series, but I don't think I ever hated her.

Honestly, I do not remember the Scarlet Letter - I've only read the book, haven't ever watched a full version of any movie (clips in class only, at least I think it was just clips). I just remember that I loved it (one of the only things I loved junior year of high school, that and the Crucible), and have been meaning to buy it (for my collection of classics - muwhaha), and then reread it, because I liked but can't remember it. I think the ending made me sad? (Like the Crucible - haha, although that I SO remember the end, since I've also watched the movie several times, and that just makes me angry every time - stupid Puritans!!!). If I ever get to that I'll let you know if I liked Dimmesdale or not, I think I was sympathetic to the main character throughout, but that's the only thing I'm certain of.

Oh, similar as in the building the ship deal? There was no "fueling" in my dream, but they did need to build a spaceship. Pretty similar to needing to build an airship yea? - well I found it too coincidental to not be at least a little inspired anyhow...^_^

It's hard to convince myself to go to bed when I know I won't have internet again for over three days!!! Not even sure when we are coming back Wed, it might be closer to 4! I know I fail, redface hahaha. I am so tired though, which is also making me not want to go to sleep, because it's going to hurt when my alarm goes off in...4 hours and 39 minutes...~_~

I think what bothered me most about Elizabeth was that I had liked her so much in the first movie as being a bit of a feminist symbol, like how she wanted to be a pirate instead of some trophy wife, and how she would fight and sneak on board and bargain with pirates and such. Then in the second movie she just acted like such a whore, and I felt like that was the movie saying "Yeah, even if you're a female pirate, you're still just a woman in the end."
Oh, I loved Scarlet Letter and The Crucible too, though I practically cried at the end of the movie version. XD;; We read and watched both books and movies, and it was pretty hot in the movie when Dimmesdale whipped himself. If you don't remember who he was, he was the man Hester had slept with before the book began, and he felt so guilty that she was punished for adultery, while he got away with it, that he would whip himself every night.
Oh, okay, I see how that would relate to the event now. XD
Aww, sorry you had to wake up early. D: Have fun with no internet and on your trip!

Oh, I didn't feel Elizabeth acted like a whore, I mean it's not like she was sleeping with people, and I have nothing against a woman using seductive wiles to manipulate stupid men. I mean yea, she IS a woman in the end, and it isn't something she should be ashamed of. If she can use it to her advantage, she should. Especially considering the time period of that movie, cunning and manipulation are just going to give her more pull than pretending to be a man (who wants to be a man anyhow). My annoyance with her came from the fact that she got kind of preachy. Actions speak volumes more than words, which is what I loved at the end of the second movie.

Mkay...I think I remember...wasn't he some sort of clerical position? Or am I allowing my lit to merge again? I am very sleep deprived atm...~_~. I actually had tons of fun though, and didn't miss the internet at all, weirdly enough. Glad to have it back now, but I guess being there was a nice little other world, and wasn't there long enough to miss this one quite yet.

Okay, so whore is a bit of a strong word. XD And while I normally wouldn't mind such manipulation, the fact that she also seemed to be attracted to Jack throughout the second movie, and in the end just used that, while at the same time seeming to have quite a large change in personality, it just didn't sit right with me. I think I prefer her badass/preachy side over her manipulative side.
Yes, he was in a clerical position. XD Making his guilt all the worse, one could assume.
I'm glad you had fun on your trip though!

Hmm...since up until the third movie I never liked her and Will as a couple, I kinda liked the Swan/Sparrow thing (aww look, bird puns razz ), so that didn't bother me. I mean, her entire life role changed throughout the series, so the fact that her personality remained inconstant seemed a logical portrayal to me.

Mkay, some of it is coming back to me. Still need to reread it though.

Thanks! ^_^

I honestly didn't care whether Will and Elizabeth ended up together or not, but to me, Jack just seemed like the character that was way better as his own person, without being coupled with anyone, so that may also be why I wasn't happy with he and Swan hitting on each other. XD
Yay!

I agree that Sparrow definitely shouldn't be coupled, but I never saw any valid threat in the idea of Jack/Elizabeth getting together. Closest scenario - assuming it hadn't been Disney making these movies - is they bang one another. So yea, I just wouldn't ever see that as a potential threat, so no worries...hehe ^_^.

Point taken, but you just... never know. I guess I link sex too much to relationships still. XD
PostPosted: Sat Jan 02, 2010 10:20 pm

Yea, I don't have sex, and I don't have relationships (not really, and definitely not recently), however I don't link the two. I understand that some people can't have the one without the other, and I respect that. However not everyone is like that, and I have a friend who imposes MUST BE IN A RELATIONSHIP TO HAVE SEX with a Nazi like regiment, which really bugs me. People need to make what works best work for them, and people definitely shouldn't have their personal lives dictated to them. Considering the typical family, divorce rates, etc, I have a hard time having faith in monogamy anymore anyhow.

At the very least, I don't really see pirates in relationships, yet I see pirates as being very sexual. The only thing Swan could ever threaten to be is a notch on a very dirty, rum stained belt ^_~.

Yes, I definitely don't think you need to be in a relationship to have sex or vice-versa, and that it should be up to the individual person, but it's so drilled into our heads in movies that if the heroes are having sex, they want to be together. Swan seemed to be far more of a threat that way, especially since she is far more the type to want a relationship with the sex than Jack is.
I could see pirates in relationships, but only in certain scenarios. XD
PostPosted: Sun Jan 03, 2010 9:37 pm

I don't think Jack Sparrow fits any of those scenarios, haha. And yes, Swan does seem the monogamy type - which is why the idea of her being more than a flirt never seemed to be much of a worry. Because Sparrow is the antithesis of monogamy. So basically if she f*cked him, she'd just be screwing herself - in more sense than one ^_~.

But yea, I get the ingrained coupling, for the most part in fiction I tend to read into it too. With exceptions, such as dirty, lying pirates! razz
