Her lower lip trembled as her voice grew tight and her eyes watered. "Erik? I...I need you to me a favor. As a friend...I need you to help me."

He looked at her. "What is it?" he asked softly.  

[Mayah Playah]

"Can you...hug me?" she asked softly, her request almost cut off by a gulping sob.

Erik blinked slowly at her and her unusual request. At least, it was unusual to him, but he could understand. He glanced at the floor and made a small grunting noise before he got up from his seat and sat next to her on the bed. Unused to physical contact, Erik curled his fingers a few times then slowly wrapped his arms around her.

Myka relaxed in his arms, remembering the last time a man held her like this. It had been Sebastian, during the middle of huge fight between her and Damian. She'd just curled into his side and he smoothed down her hair as she cried helplessly. Myka knew she wouldn't be able to do the same Witt Erik, but she still needed him to just hold her and let her cry.

And he did just that. He allowed her to rest against his shoulder and held her close, running his fingers through her hair just as he used to do when Winry was upset.

The young woman set her hands on his chest, closing her eyes and simply crying. "This isn't fair," she hiccuped. "None of this...life just isn't fair."

"I know." Erik replied as he continued to stroke her hair. "But sometimes we just have to take whatever it throws at us."  

[Mayah Playah]

"I don't know if I can," she replied. "Maybe if it had happened a month from now...but right after I have our baby? What sick, twisted son of a b***h does that?"

"Yes you can, and even if you can't I won't let you do anything that might harm you or your family." he said before thinking of an answer for her next question. "Myka, Damian forced his way out of Heaven for his sister, don't you think he can do it again for his wife and his children?"  

[Mayah Playah]

She blushed and smiled softly. "I keep forgetting I'm his wife.."

"But you can never forget how much you loved him."  

[Mayah Playah]

"And yet, you are dying to forget your family," she observed quietly. "Don't deny it, Erik. I know you better than you think I do. Could...could you tell me why?"

He sighed and looked at her. "Why what?"
