 Masika Yejide ~Tempest "Well, this is odd," Masika muttered under her breath. She was used to people looking at her oddly because of her white hair and blue eyes, which was a rare combination outside of her tribe unless you were a senior citizen, but she'd never had everyone in the school watching her at one time. Strange. And she didn't think she'd done anything to warrant being stared at, either.

Sing to me of lovely things. Of butterflies and angel wings. . .
Sam sat in the back seat, feeling really out of place. She only ever saw cars like this in a classic car show her dad had taken her to when she was very small, and she told them so. The fanciest thing her parents ever drove were Suv's of some unexciting model or other. They were constantly changing it, like they were trying to keep up with the Jones's. She supposed even then it was clear what kind of people her parents were. More worried about how others saw them then with making what they had be something special.
"You are a very lucky person," she said, trying to keep the envy from her voice.
When they got to the school, she stepped out and instinctively wanted to pull on her hat to warm her ears. Then she sighed and remembered that it had disappeared. For the first time in a long time, Sam was without some form of cat ears. She still had her bag, littered with feline patches and buttons and her gloves that had a cat's face on it, but she felt somehow incomplete without the little ears.
"Don't worry about them," Sam said as they walked towards the edge of campus from the parking lot. "People are often rude without realizing it."
. . . Then grab my hand and hold me close. Save me from this earthly dose.

 Sumina smiled as she felt the minds of the X-men as they walked on campus. She listened to the students around them as Masika walked past. She couldn't wait to hear her thoughts. She reached out to listen to David's thoughts, but she was bounced back. Or that's what it felt like to her. Sumina frowned and felt at the walls, they didn't feel like a brick wall like Sam's did. She could feel the thoughts behind the walls in David's mind, but she couldn't hear them, nor could she even touch his mind. This was Jean's doing. Sumina threw her book down in anger, a couple students walking past giving her strange looks. She rolled her eyes and picked the book up. She would find a way. For now she just had to watch and wait. She continued reading her book. As Masika passed by Jake laughed, watching her. "Looks like Stormy plays with the nerd for free. Do you let the little cat girl watch?" He asked, his group of friends laughing at the comment.

Something inside of David was just... tired of taking this humans abuse. David stepped in front of Masika and glared at Jake. "Keep talking. Please, keep talking. Give me the excuse. I'd love to do a repeat of what happened at the cafeteria." David said, reminding Jake of when David broke his nose. It didn't take a mind reader to see that David was fed up.

Sumina listened to the conversation through Jake's mind. She smiled at Jake's response. Jake flinched at the thought, but smirked as one of his friends gestured to the school security camera. "Oh I will. And Stormy let me elaborate for your slow mind. Your a little sl*t. A wh0re. Someone that gets paid to have sex with people. I saw you myself." He said with a conceited smile. He looked back at David. "Go ahead nerd. Headbutt me again. You won't get lucky twice, but with Stormy there, you must get lucky all the time. Don't you?" He said, wagging his finger saying, 'come at me'. His friends were all smirking, but backed away from Jake to give him space. Sumina sighed, Jake was too cocky for his own good. She thought about leaving him to David's attack, but she needed Jake. She needed him to terrorize Masika. Sumina put the information necessary for Jake in avoid a few of David's attack into his mind then sat back and continued to watch.

It was the most absurd thing, hearing this outrageous boy make such claims. The bemused expression on Masika's face alone was all she needed to know what he said was false. She looked at the rising tension and worked her magic to break it. With her face split in the most mirthful grin, Sam laughed so hard it startled a few of the nearby students.
"That's the funniest joke I've heard all week Jake!" she gasped. Really, how can someone think a rumor is true when the people its about don't react like it is? She gave her friends a very meaningful look as she wiped her eyes of the fake tears and continued laughing. Sam may have been a wallflower, but her aversion to people was a choice, one that allowed her to be observant of others behaviors. And high schoolers were a fickle bunch.
"Come on guys. Let's get to class before he tells another. I don't think my stomach can handle it," she added, grabbing Masika's hand and pulling her along.

Thoughts of violence flashed through his mind. He had it all planned out. He'd grab Jake by his throat, and disembowel him. He'd hurl the body at the camera to avoid an immediate confirmation on his identity. He'd use his powers to get back to the mansion, probably having to kill a few other students and MRD agent on the way there. He might even have to take out a few... no. David took a breath. Too much. His hand shot out, and grabbed Jake's finger. David twisted it around, bringing Jake to his knees almost immediately without breaking it. David leaned down to Jakes ear and whispered, "The human body is covered with joints. The most are in your finger. Plenty of bendable parts that are very easy to take advantage of. Even a nerd like me can take advantage of them. If you think for one moment that the camera is any form of deterrent, you're more ignorant than I thought. Talk ill about my friends again,and you'll see who I really am. Because I'm so much more than a nerd, Jake. I really am." David released Jake's finger, letting him scurry backwards.

Sumina just shook her head and retracted from Jake's mind. He really was an idiot. And you can't cure that, no matter how much mind control you put on a person. Sumina closed her book and reached out to the minds around Masika. Their whispers became louder around her, only a few actually needing Sumina to push them to speak louder. "I guess we know why she doesn't try to learn English better."
"That explains why she's so muscular."
"You know I never see her eat much. She's probably saving room."Sumina dropped her smile and pretended to be buried in her book so that when the X-men got there, she wouldn't look suspicious. Though they would probably suspect her anyways. ((These are the most terrible things I could think of so.... Don't judge me please!! sad ))

Masika Yejide ~Tempest Masika was dumbfounded until Sam started laughing. Thank the Loa for that girl! She followed Sam, letting her pull her along until they were nearly to class and the crowd of students had thinned. "Thank you, Kitten," she whispered in the other girl's ear. Why had Jake started such a cruel rumor? Was it because she had refused him? No, it couldn't be that, could it? But he'd never been nearly so mean in his bullying of her. What could have caused him to turn so spiteful?

Class squeaked by at an agonizingly slow rate. The entire time the class was swirling with rumors about Masika. These rumors were only slightly assuaged by talk of what David did to Jake. David sat in his seat seething. He wanted to do something, but couldn't. That quick-temper was David's biggest weakness. But David coped.
When lunch rolled around, David figured the best place to go would be the library. Sam was right at home there. Plus, no talking was allowed, so no rumors could be spread.

"Think nothing of it," Sam said as she lead them through the thickening crowds to their class. She stopped just inside to catch her breath, her injured hand folded up against her chest so that she didn't get it smacked.
"I don't know why he's suddenly bent on you like that, but idiot guys like him are not worth fretting over," she explained. "Just remember that he can't make you think less of yourself. Don't give him that power over you."
Lunch came sooner than she thought. And when she tried to get into the library, her way was barred almost literally. When David found her, she was sitting in the hallway, her head resting on her folded arms, bag on her lap. A tear track graced her otherwise calm face.

Masika Yejide ~Tempest Masika nodded. "I know, but it is strange that he should say such things. Or that others should believe it. I do not dress like a prostitute, and the only people I really interact with are you, Vincent, Laura, and David." It confused her that she would be called such things as Jake had said when there was obviously no truth to it at all.
She found David and Sam at lunch and was surprised to see that Sam had tear tracks on her face. "What has happened?"

Sumina watched as launch came around and the rumors continued to spread. She was a little annoyed that Masika wasn't as hurt by this as she had wanted her to be. She could fix that. At a later time though. Sumina closed her locker door and opened her book, walking passed Sam, Masika, and David. She pretended to be very interested in her book, which she partly was, as she entered the library. On the inside she was smirking at the little cat girl's pain and saddness.
