Alcott crouched down to get off just as he heard Michaela's screams. He lifted his head and met her gaze for a moment, as if things were in slow motion, and watched her fall from his grasp. "Dammit, Michaela!" Alcott yelled and quickly got up. He backed up a few steps then ran off the cliff.
Just like a professional skydiver, he shifting his body until he was falling face first, his arms to his sides to help him speed up. As he neared her, Alcott realized that simply falling wouldn't help.
He cursed again, his words lost in the wind, and in the blink of an eye his large, nearly seven foot long wings appeared, both nearly white except for his left wing having a few black feathers, one of which fell off. He flapped the wings once and immediately sped up, severing the gap between him and Michaela by half. After another flap of the wings Alcott got close enough to grab her arm. In those blazing seconds he pulled her towards him and moved his body so his legs were closest to the ground, then he flapped his wings a few times and managed to stop them from falling anymore.
