I was never sure which one I leaned towards, then took the test and realized it was because I didn't lean towards either. XD
I've been in a huge movie mood lately, which sucks because I have all these DVDs that have been waiting for me to watch them for forever, and now that I'm finally wanting to, school is starting back up. XP
I hate being expected to do things that you don't get payment from. XP

Yea, I'm kind of the opposite, not really feeling like watching anything, but I have tons of time. As I don't really feel like doing anything, the movie watching is what's getting done. Most of it is I just don't like watching things on my laptop, makes it harder to use it, plus this thing is old and likes to make noises louder than the movie (like right now ~_~). Almost done with 28 Weeks, though did just say that on your wall...^_^

I don't really mind it, just feeling kind of lazy. I didn't have to agree to do it, but I guess I do feel kind of obligated, and a bit flattered when people decide I'm the best for something, so I usually can't help but agree. Oh well, almost done!

Yeah, using a laptop to watch things isn't as nice as on DVD. Sometimes it's necessary though.
Ah, I see. Yeah, I tend to feel obligated if people ask me things as well. XP

Yea, that's the reason I still haven't finished A Very Potter Musical, I'm totally in the mood right now too, but unless my laptop decides to be nice and quiet down a bit, that's going to be very strenuous. So sad.

I found that headphones worked best with A Very Potter Musical, considering how quiet the acting was at times.

Yea, but then some things get REALLY loud and I don't know that I want my ears ringing. I got a bit further today, I really like Voldy...^_^. He reminds me of the adult version of Billy Elliot - not in personality at all of course (not that you get personality on Billy's adult person - though that's not my point), but in look.

And goodness, he is quite the attractive Voldemort, is he not? XD Like seriously... way hotter than he should be. Draco's still my favorite though. <3 Er... in the musical, that is.
PostPosted: Fri Jan 22, 2010 11:01 pm

He is!! As is adult Billy Elliot ^_~ (sorry if you've never seen that, then that point would never have come across as obvious). Way too hot, but you won't see me complaining. My favorite character thus far.

The Draco STILL annoys me, the blurred gender roles still get on my nerves. I also don't like the Ron, he's not very attractive and as too ridiculously dweeby and, well, dumb. Kind of trollish. So two of my favorite canon characters - Draco and Ron, are two of my least favorite AVMP characters.

However, thus far, I do rather like the Hermione (weird point - I like her teeth, I tend to be very observant of teeth on people. They add character to smiles and expressions, and I like hers. They aren't yellow or horribly misaligned, but they aren't just typically perfect, they've got great character), she's definitely looking the part more than glam girl Emma too. And don't get me wrong, I think Emma is a good actress and does the part well, they just styled her up WAY too much. In the 4th movie it was supposed to be OMG she's beautiful!! However it just ends up being OMG she looks the same!! I mean they'd have lost no money and still have had plenty of middle aged men drooling over jail bait *shudders* had they at least left the hair poofy like it's supposed to be. Also, though I've only seen Snape once, I like the AVPM Snape as well. So Hermione and Snape, my other two favorite canon characters - are two of my favorite AVMP characters as well.

And, both in the series and in the musical, I still really really don't like Ginny... razz

Yeah, I have no idea who Billy Elliot is. XD
I tend to be fond of blurred gender roles, questioning what's normal and abnormal for a male or female to act. Plus I think the actress that plays Draco just makes him absolutely adorable. Don't care for the Ron either though. The eating thing is funny, but other than that, there isn't much to him.
I agree that this Hermione is much more Hermione-looking. XD Pretty much everything you said about Emma Watson, yup. Like she plays Hermione really, really well, and is perfect for her in the first couple movies, but then when they start making her all super jail-baity... just doesn't work.
I love the Potter Musical Snape as well, though my favorites are still Draco, Voldemort, and Quirrel. XD
Though I rather dislike both Ginnys, I do prefer the musical one, because at least she's supposed to be annoying.

Haha...Billy Elliot is a movie, about a decade or so old, about a British boy (age 11) from a family of miners (older brother and father both work in the mines, mom is dead, grandma has a bit of an addled memory) who wants to be a ballet dancer. Needless to say, his family doesn't exactly accept this at first, he's a boy. Boys box, or wrestle. They don't do fruity ballet!

Anyhow the movie is really cute, very touching, I would definitely recommend it. It's one of my favorite movies. You see him at the end around age 30 or so? Give or take, anyhow that adult version is obviously who I'm saying looks like Voldemort (or rather, Voldemort looks like him). Not the 11 year old kid.

Sometimes I like blurred gender roles, in Dracos case I don't. He doesn't feel like a feminine male to me, he seems like a female. The roles are too blurred, I mean obviously the actress is a girl. However I've seen girls portray the role of "boy" well, and the contrast is thus interesting. But in her case, she doesn't, she fails and just remains as a girl, which means she just barely seems in character as Draco to me. And I know we've kind of had this similar conversation before (with the specific example of AVMP Draco too) so I won't keep going on. But yea, she just bugs me. I mean I haven't seen much of her yet so maybe I'll change my mind. For now she just doesn't seem like Draco, trying too hard to be a parody that it just becomes a new character. As Draco is one of my favorite characters canon this of course bothers me. My favorite character has in essence been deleted!!! I WANT MY LOVE BACK!!!

Yea, I hate when they make teenage girls look like sex symbols and yet try to highlight their "virtues." You want them to be virtuous? Don't slather them in product and tight jeans.

Thus far I think I prefer musical Ginny too, she doesn't overstep her place and be presumptuous and bah! Like I hate when Ginny lectures Harry in the series as if she has cause to and he owes her. They are friendly, but they aren't even friends. I mean it's annoying when Hermione does it, but again it's kind of that "smothering concern." With Ginny it's just possessively annoying. Idk...but...bah!!

Oh, that does sound like a cute movie. I'll look into it. ^^
Ah, I see. XD So it's more you feel the character is too unlike Draco because of the blurred roles than disliking the blurred roles themselves. Though I really think most of the characters seem deleted in AVPM. Like with the exception of maybe Hermione, no one is really like themselves much at all, and do feel like completely new characters. Maybe I would be just as bothered if Sirius was in it and completely changed. XD But since none of my favorite characters are really in it to begin with, perhaps I do not feel as annoyed.
Seriously. What bothers me even more is when you have women dressed in practically nothing getting pissed off and lecturing people for oggleing them. I mean, come on, if it's going to bother you, don't dress like that!
Completely agree with your mostly-coherent rant on Ginny. XD
PostPosted: Sun Jan 24, 2010 11:04 pm

It really is, and you definitely should.

That's true, they are almost all completely off. However it wasn't too bothersome, because like you said, it's usually favorites you notice, not other. Snape hasn't been in it enough and Hermione is the most in character. Ron is off but also kind of shunted, so I really was only noticing how out Draco was and that was irritating me. I like the songs, but yes, I'm thinking I probably won't end up an avid AVMP fan because it's too out of character. I like parodies that make fun of the characters through highlighting attributes about them that are mock worthy, not by changing them into a different character entirely. So yes, AVMP characters I like will probably end up being characters I didn't like canon, like Harry and Voldemort (like Riddle, don't like Voldemort).

Seriously! I mean if you want to dress like that and you want to be ogled, that's completely fine. Nothing wrong with that. Just, don't be so contradictory, it's confusing and unfair.

Hahaha, oh coherency is SO overrated ^_~.

What's funny is today I happened to run into this. I cracked up because of the coincidence. XD
I agree about preferring parodies that high light traits on characters rather than change them, but at the same time, I can appreciate when other types of parodies are done well anyway, like in A Very Potter Musical. I almost see it like a separate fandom though, with separate characters that I can enjoy in their own right. Hence why I like so many characters that I don't care for in the books.
Exactly. XD RPG heroins are the worse.

Haha, there see, all these omens telling you that you must see Billy Elliot.

Yea, usually if something is going to just "take" another source rather than be original, I want to see some semblance of the source in it. I can sometimes appreciate things as different, or elements of it as interesting. But if I chase something down as a representation of something, I want to see what's being represented. And again I'm usually much more accommodating to plot changes than character changes. I have liked the music though so I'll stick with AVMP, you know, there has been WAY more dialogue than I had been expecting.
