A rather large part of the American population is blissfully ignorant, and know little-to-nothing of the truths outside of their own country. They aren't the only ones, of course. But still, American tourists are so fun to screw with, at times. XD

Oh, I sure hope so... I'm glad my people can entertain you.
On the other hand, we tend to laugh at foreign tourists, too... I think that's pretty much universal. XD The smart tourists can work it to their advantage, though... and if really bored, they'll mess with the locals in return. Exaggerated movements, badly mispronouncing things, making strange references... good stuff for traveling.

There's the odd lot of tourists that think drop bears aren't a real threat. Boy, they really end up surprised, cracks me up every time. XD

Drop bears are large, vicious, carnivorous koalas (although the koala is technically not a bear) that inhabit treetops and attack their prey by dropping onto their heads from above. If you're in a group they're easy enough to deter. That's why guides sometimes carry around large sticks.
Also, the country itself is not inherently dangerous, just the wildlife. XD

I think the trope is "Everything Trying To Kill You"? =D
...
Seriously, bear-ish things that attack from above? That's simultaneously terrifying and awesome.
