Not too sure I wanna believe that update just yet, especially since the shield claims to replace the Sticky Launcher. The whole point of a Demoman is to stand in the back lines/around a corner/on a roof and spam grenades and stickies and rack up easy kills. I question the plausibility of sending a Demoman to the frontlines with the intent of melee-ing. Especially since yu lose max hp to start with. Plus it's two items right off the bat that just don't fit the Demoman's design of defensive area denial and offensive sentry clearing.

And if it is real, I don't see anyone using them. (Maybe the sword).

As for the body count

Soldier: 4,666,558

Demo: 4,441,214

A difference of 225k. Seems Demoman is trying to pick up his pacing, closing the previous gap by an ever so small 9k.

The 10th class Guard Dog was on the TF2 site as well, along with unlockables and achievements, but it was a fake. I'm just skeptical because this totally contradicts the purpose of a Demoman.

Not to mention taking them from the easiest to kill with spam classes to one that'll be easy as hell to kill.

A sword and shield wielding Demo will be a sitting Scot for Snipers, Heavies, Sentries, and Axtinguishing ambush Pyros. Sentries being a big factor because one of the main jobs of a Demo is building destruction with stickies.

And before anyone says just use the sword itself and keep the Launcher, the sword is useless without it's Shield, as it will never crit.

Crits are not the only way to kill things.

I was going to say something about how dumb it is to get rid of the sticky launcher, but for everyone like Hash that QQs about demos being so overpowered, I guess this is Valve's weird solution. I imagine that the third weapon will be an explosion-based one to even it all out.

It seemed weird to me (probably not you) that the sniper got a bow instead of a sniper rifle, but it ended up working pretty well in the end and there was nothing to worry about. I think people spend too much time worrying that Valve doesn't know what they're doing rather than having faith in them. Still, the shield is weird.
