Yeah, I think I'd rather have an uncommon name.
Mine's not super common, but it's not rare either, Courtney. Regardless though, I really don't like the name. I mean... court... and then knee... who wants that? It makes me think of someone spraining their knee in a basketball court, and that's just creepy! ;_; Plus it's a French name, and I don't like French. XP Even more retardedly, it apparently means "Little Nose."
My sister's name is Katie, but she's one of the only ones I know. I seem to meet Ashleys and Britneys, most commonly.
Yay!

I knew your name was Courtney, and that you disliked it...because I am the most excellent stalker ever...hehe. JUST KIDDING!! I'm not a creepy stalker, I swear...*shifty eyes*. Awhile ago when I was bored and browsing through old threads to think about places to randomly post you said that in The Get to Know Your Fellow Guild Members thread (which I rejected as a place to post...I can't remember why, but I did obviously read it). It was mentioned elsewhere as well, but that's mostly where I remember it.

I love French! However there aren't too many French names I like, so I'll give you that. I'm not particularly to the letter C, I prefer K myself. I like my friend Jesika's name because it's spelled alternatively with a K. It makes it unique and awesome all in one. I've only known one Courtney in my life, and you know what I can't remember how old I was when I knew her. She however was about 7 or so, and said her name in the most adorably awkward childish way ever. For years I used to say that name from time to time with the enunciation she used. Hmm...actually until this conversation I'd forgotten I'd done that, so that is quite weird.

My name means light and lively...and gay, so you can imagine the annoying number of jokes I'd get playing on my name. At least your name is long. You could go by Ney, the way Johnny from the Johnny the Homicidal Maniac comics went by Nny sometimes. Ahh, favorite comics ever ^_^.

I know a few Ashleys and Brittanys too (don't think any of them are Britney's though...maybe?), and quite a few Stephanies.

OH YEAH, THIS THREAD EXISTS, WHOOPS.

Both of your names are nice. Well, nice is a boring word, so lets say fantastic.

I know I know someone called Courtney, and I can't for the life of me think who it is. One of my BFFs is called Katie though. :3

Also, I feel like saying that not being partial to the letter C is one of the funniest things to not be partial to. Sorry. =P

I'm a Lindsey. At school, someone thought it'd be hilarious to call me Lindisease. Shitsux.

Bye.
PostPosted: Wed Feb 03, 2010 8:07 pm

Yay existing!!!

Well, other than you Morgey, I know four Lindsey/Lindsays (only one is a Lindsay though, so guess my -ey pool is growing. Though one of those -eys goes by Ellie, and I didn't even know her name was Lindsey until I added her on facebook. I think Ellie is a really cute nickname. I could conceivably pull it out of my middle name, Elaine, but I guess I'd have to start going by my middle name before that would make sense to people).

I've known 4 Katies I think? Wait 5, though I barely ever knew that 5th and I still don't know her now. At least that's how many off the top of my head.

I am rather funny. I am most partial to the letters J and K, just to get that out there. I ranked the alphabet once, but I'm certain that isn't set in stone. Although, I do believe that B came in last, that might still hold true. X, Z, E, Q and Y are also quite far up on the list.

The worst thing is that my middle/high school best friend (now just friend, we won't go there, haha) used to break my one syllable name into syllables. So she'd stretch it out into gay-all. SO annoying, luckily though it's only an aural annoyance, and the only people who ever think of that now tend to only do so online.

@JK: OMG STALKER!! Nah, I don't remember mentioning my name in that particular thread, but I'm sure this isn't the first time I've said it in this guild. XD;; I don't really like my name being public, but it gets to the point in here sometimes where it's just not worth hiding if you become comfortable enough with someone.
C used to be my favorite letter, probably because my name started with it. I still like it because it reminds me of cats and pink (don't ask why on the pink), but I don't like it as much as I used to. I think my favorite letter now is T... maybe. Or H. I'm really not sure. XD;; I know I do prefer K over C in spellings, mostly because of how integrated I am in Japanese pronunciation, but dammit, my sister's name starts with K and my name starts with C and I don't want to like K better!
I do like having a long name, I'll admit, even though it sometimes doesn't fit on scantrons. And I've always been amused that my first name is longer than my last name. I really should've gone by Lynn though, my middle name, because I like it so much better. Except I didn't realize that until Courtney was already established as my name, and it's too much work to change it now. Plus one of Karma's bratty OCs is named Lin, so it reminds me of her. XD
Love Johnny. <3 But I wouldn't want to be called anything that sounds like "Knee." I hate knees... *shiver*
I probably know more Brittanys I just spelled it stupid. >_> And I know a lot of Stephanies as well.

@Morgey: Wow, you just... really don't seem like a Lindsey for some reason. XD It's not a bad name, it just isn't the type of name I would picture for you.

Boo for Lindisease, Gay-all, and my own fail name, Court-ti-nee.
PostPosted: Wed Feb 03, 2010 9:20 pm

@Kits - You did...I went back and found it after I posted just to make sure I wasn't tripping and naming the wrong thread *makes another claim to not be a stalker, really*... rofl

Haha, see I was the opposite. Because I didn't really like my name I think that predisposed me against the letter G. If it's any consolation, Katie is a rather boring name. There are so many better K names. I prefer K because it's not as abundant, because C can be soft or hard you see it more, thus it gets boring.

*cough*learned Lynn on that thread too*cough...haha...I was going to mention my best friend's middle name is Lynn yesterday, however that would have just revealed more stalking...which I've just done now so why didn't I bother? Hahaha, but yea I like the name Lynn. My friend's middle name is Leigh, which is irrelevant (I like it I guess) I just wanted to mention it so I had a leeway to bring up her initials are BLT...which is pretty darn awesome. She's one of those Brittany's I know, and one of her nicknames is Bacon Brattany. Bacon out of the BLT, Brattany because she was being a brat one day (and she is little miss nice and amiable and NEVER a brat) so someone called her Brattany instead of Brittany. Best slip ever! Hahaha.

I like Lynn better than Lin (yes I like Y better than I), it's different! I like Lin in FMA? Hehe. And same here, I was already well established by Gail before I thought of trying to go by Elaine. Some of my friends have tried to patronize me and call me Elaine, but it never sticks. Although, E-san (out of Envy) amongst one group of friends has stuck, so yay to that.

Haha, and no it is a bad nickname, I agree. But yea I love Johnny too...and Squee ^_^. I do not like Wobbly Headed Bob though, he can just go die.

@Morgey - yea, see I was thinking Morgey would be a great name for you, totally sounds like a name already. Like Morgan but vamped, hehehe.

Boo indeed!

See, for me, I think I never did like my name, so I at least wanted to make up for it by liking some aspect of my name, so I chose that I liked the letter it started with, since I also loved cats and cat starts with C. XD But yeah, I tend to not care for letters that can have two pronunciations, like C and G. Some are exceptions though.
Stalker!! But BLT are the best initials ever. Damn, now I want a BLT...
Yeah, I prefer Lynn over Lin too, but they sound the same so it doesn't count. XD I think the nickname I get called most often, well it used to be Kit, but that was most often from someone I am no longer friends with, and I never liked that name to begin with, so it's kind of faded away. I am sometimes called Court, which bothers me as well. XD I guess I don't really have a common nickname offline now that Kit is gone.
Squee is win!! <3 And the guy who was abducted by aliens and had a baby with a chicken!
Yeah, Morgan sounds like it would suit Morgey much better. ^^

Kitties start with K! razz

I guess the thing I clung onto was that my name wasn't overly common at least. And while I like weird names, I'd probably get annoyed with having my name butchered repeatedly. Though while in my first year of college, when I was crazy and didn't have a major and for some reason took chemistry, the TAs (who are NEVER from this country and barely speak English) butchering my name was kind of funny.

I'm not a stalker, really...*shifty eyes* lol

Hey, is there a shifty eye emoticon? I need one!

Yes, BLT pretty much is, she's the only person whose made me envy initials, I've always rather liked mine. And yes, I love BLTS, it's weird though, my mom put cream cheese on them not mayonnaise. So I've always been confused when I go to restaurants now, it just seems like cream cheese is a staple of a BLT. And I don't particularly care for mayo.

Nah, homophones are evil, it counts!

I have WAY too many nicknames. Currently E-san/Envy is probably what's used the most. Or Tinman (FYI: Scarecrow is always my favorite in ANY production. Be it the original, Wicked, or Tin Man - however I am the heartless one aka I am not in touch with my emotions, and I can only express certain ones. Maybe this is why I tend to judge things on scales rather than individually, being unable to appropriately process emotions makes that easier, it lets me detach more).

And Noodle Boy!

I like the name Morgan for a girl. The only Morgan I know is a guy though.

JK: I've never heard Ellie as a short version of it, but it makes sense.

My granddad wanted me to be called Helen. I know five Helens, including my best best best friend, so I'm glad that didn't happen. I used to get jealous when other people had the same name as me, haha.

YOU COULD CALL YOURSELF GELLIE. =D

What's wrong with B? It looks like vertical teeth. =[

Kitsune: We've known each other for a few years. It seems weird that we're only just now finding out each others names. Lol, Internet.

I was going to say "What?", but I've been told I should be called Dorothy, so you're not the first person to say that.

Ly > Li any day.

JK: Guess what my surname is. =p

Kitsune: I WANT A BLT TOO. Damn you, I'm going to have to leave the house now.

I haven't either, which is why I had no idea her name was Lindsey until I added her on Facebook. I was more inclined to think her name was Elaine or Ellen. Although, I also know an Ally and thought her name was Allison/Allyson for several years, until finally finding out it was Nathalie. I guess I can see how you get those nicknames out of those names, but they wouldn't be my first guesses.

I knew way too many Lindsey's from 7th - college, so good thing you didn't go to any of my schools, haha. Other than an aunt I don't know any Helens. I got to be Helen of Troy last year in the Classics parade at my old university though, that was fun. Paris kept ditching me though! Fail Paris!!! He preferred to hang out with Aeneas, though I can't blame him, when I wasn't with Cassandra, Priam and Hector I preferred to be with Aeneas too. He was much hotter than Paris ^_~.

I think I'm gunna pass on Gellie, thanks though. I really just don't like G's you see, and the point would be to completely dissociate away from my first name. Though I was thinking last night about how I do like the sound of my first and middle name together, some people's first and middle names really conflict. Ooh, one day while working last year, I saw that one of the students first name was Cain and his middle name was Abel. I gotta wonder what those parents were thinking. Is he supposed to be plagued with inner turmoil and self-conflict?!

I no like big vertical teeth!! I dunno, just don't like too many B words, it's just not a good letter for me.

True or false, if Ly > Li and Le > Lo it is proven that Lu > La rofl

I'm gunna guess your surname is Morgan...hehe.

Mmm...bacon!

You know odd people. =p

Butbut... Aeneas was a d**k. =[

But it sounds like jelly.

Cain Abel sounds like cannibal! Also, wtf.

Yes?

D:

Yesh. It was my nickname at school, because I didn't have enough personality to have a proper nickname. But I was pretty morbid and it sounds kind of like morgue so eh.

Mmm... lettuce tomato.

I do.

He was, but the guy from my Greek class who was playing him was hot.

I prefer jam myself actually.

I know right? What lovely parents those must be.

Yes! o_O???

twisted

Haha, well it seems to suit you.
