Main Characters


(Note: These characters, and their back stories did not exist in the original 1990 Famicom release of Final Fantasy III. )

Luneth: A adventurous orphan boy from the village of Ur. He was raised by the town elder Topapa along with Arc.

Arc: A timid orphan boy form the village of Ur. He was raised by the town elder Topapa along with Luneth.

Refia: A orphan girl who was raised by the blacksmith of Kazus. He wants her to follow in his footsteps, but that just isn’t what Refia wants for herself.

Ingus: A orphan who serves as a loyal knight for King Sasune.


Other Characters


Cid: He is a master airship engineer who helps the Light Warriors at the start of the game.

Sara: The princess of Sasoon.

Desh: A young man who is suffering from amnesia, but despite that he knows there is something really important he must attend to, so he joins the Light Warriors in their travels hoping that they would lead him to where he needs to go.

Elia: She is maiden of the water shrine. She joins up with the Light Warriors since she is the only one who is able to open the entrance to shrine.

The Four Old Men: Four old men who pose as the Light Warriors.

Allus: The prince of the biggest kingdom in the world, Salonia.

Doga: One of the three disciples of the Arch Mage Noah who was granted with the power of Magic. He happens to live with a bunch of Moogles.

Unne: One of the three disciples of the Arch Mage Noah. She was granted the power of the dream world.

Xande: One of the games main antagonist. Like Doga and Unne, he too was a disciple of the Arch Mage Noah and he was granted with the gift of mortality. Xande was not satisfied with this and felt that Noah had cheated him.

Jobs Classes


Final Fantasy III incorporates the job system, and each job has it’s own unique set of commands and stats. Also new to the series, at the time, the player has the option to switch any characters job at any given time. New jobs unlock when the player reaches a new Crystal. The jobs granted from each Crystal are as follows:

Onion Kid/Knight: This is the class that all the characters start as. They may appear weak, but with all of the Onion Equipment it becomes one of the best job classes in the game.

White Mage: Capable of casting White Magic (Lv. 1-7)
Red Mage: Capable of casting White and Black Magic (Lv. 1-4)
Black Mage: Capable of casting Black Magic (Lv. 1-7)

Ranger: Capable of casting some White Magic Spells (Lv. 1-3)

Water Crystal


Dragoon
Bard
Viking
Conjurer: Capable of all summon magic. However, it’s weak in comparison with the Summoner.
Magic Knight: Capable of casting some White Magic spells (Lv. 1-3)

Earth Crystal


Summoner: All summon magic (strong)
Shaman: Is capable of casting all White Magic.
Black Belt
Warlock: Is capable of casting all Black Magic.

Secret Classes


These two classes can be obtained by traveling all the way to the end of the Forbidden Land of Eureka in the Famicom version. However, they are simply granted by the Earth Crystal in the DS version.

Ninja: Is capable of equipping anything, with the exception of the Rusty Armor and the Onion Gear.
Sage: Able to use all White Magic, Black Magic, and Summon.
