"Tomorrow. Afterschool," Lynn replied, picking up her things, "Well, I'm off."
Lynn tossed her hair over her shoulder as she walked off.

"How about the auditorium? You've never been on stage right? You have to experience it. I'll meet you here tomorrow at lunch, okay?" Mike replied, "See you tomorrow!"

Amber looked about for signs telling her where the auditorium was. She wasn't quite sure exactly, since she's never been there before. Once, she believed, in her Freshman year she found it and took a picture of it's grandness, but it's been 3 years since then. Then Amber had a vague thought pass by her. Who exactly would be singing for their project? They were both deemed back vocals, well secretly Amber could sing pretty well, but she's way too timid to do something like a solo at the moment. Finally Amber discovered the door and entered.
Shoot. Wrong door.
Amber stared out from the darkness of the audience area and began to proceed down the stairs quietly. Mike was already there, playing with on the piano.

The end of the school day came surprisingly fast. Jay headed to his car, a gift from his dad, and began his ride to the address Lynn had given him. He stopped at a food place briefly to get a quick bite a little concerned that he would get there before Lynn did. After that, he continued on, arriving shortly at the house. He walked up the steps to the front door, ringing the doorbell, then waiting.

Mike didn't actually know how to play the piano; it was just fun to make sounds. He happily tapped the keys, somehow making a tune. He turned as he heard the auditorium doors open. His smile split into a wide grin.
"Hi, Amber. Glad you could make it. Did you think of any song?" Mike asked her.

"You're late," Lynn said as she opened the door, "By 3.33 seconds."
She let him in and led him to where the piano was. Most of the decor was gone, but the furniture remained. Things were still the way they were with Lynn's hard work. She cleaned the home diligently every week; it was her place afterall.
"Sit. Play," Lynn commanded, pointing to the piano chair.

"U-Uhmm... No... Not really..." Amber answered as she reached the stage at last. She looked up, not yet on the stage. Wow. The stage was awfully big. She felt puny compared to it. Gosh. She was suppose to perform with the Glee Club on this? Gah, she really just wanted to hide in a corner right now, or at least not be here.

"Sorry, kind of finding the place you know," Jay joked. How she acted was pretty amusing. He entered the house, what an interesting place, looking at it, it was definitely not her actually house. Interesting. On command he sat down at the piano.
"Uh, give me cue when you're ready," he told her.

"Well, I got one," Mike began, singing 'Nothing On You.'
He circled around Amber, busting his moves, doing what he did best. It wasn't the best singing, but he was still a performer. As he sang, he stared at Amber. Gosh, she was pretty. Not to mention so cute. He kept singing, prompting her to join.

Lynn flicked her eyes once to him and began. Speechless was exactly what she felt with Jay. He kind of just swept her into the feeling, making her do something she would never do ever in her life. As she finished, she stared vacantly at a blank spot in the wall. It used to be a family portrait. Her parents weren't always crazy. It happened after dad struck gold; his stock went up and he was suddenly promoted to CEO. That's when it went downhill for her. She snapped back to reality.
"That was not bad," she said to recover herself and mask her thoughts.

Amber was surprised as Mike pulled her onto the stage with him. She couldn't help but smile watching him dancing around him while singing. It really took her mind off of the whole scary stage and him being a jock and all. The goosebumps really did go away. She had a vague feeling she was suppose to join in, but she was still too timid to sing in front of others. Amber turned around following the dancing Mike. That's when see saw it. The bright lights blaring down on her.
"Oh my god," she breathed suddenly, her mind blanked slightly, her legs felt like crumbling.

Jay smiled as he played. He could feel it all. All of her emotions just pouring out. It was way different from her other persona. This was why he didn't get annoyed with her because he knew she was really like this. That day he heard her sing wasn't just any fluke.
"I thought it was pretty good," Jay voiced out his own thought.

Mike caught Amber, abruptly stopping his singing.
"Hey, you okay?" he said, but then he noticed how luscious her lips were and ended up kissing her.

"Re - Well, of course," Lynn caught herself.

To Amber, it seemed like everything just went by extremely fast. First she felt hands supporting her as she was blinded by the lights, which she must say was a strange feeling considering she was the one usually blinding others with a light. Then, she felt something against her lips and when her eyes adjusted to the distance, she saw the close details of Mike's face. Finally, it hit her. He was kissing her. She honestly had no idea what to do, her legs literally crumbling to the ground this time bringing Mike along, she also forgot how to breathe.

Jay looked at Lynn, his eyebrows furrowed a bit.
"Why do you do that?" He asked, questioning about that strange personality twist she had. Like sometimes he found it pretty amusing that there were actually people like that, but then he knew, just a bit, that it was just a fake shell. He especially noticed it after she sung as she did just now.

Mike had not realized he crumbled with Amber. He sat on the floor with her, cupping her face with his right hand. He watched he expression and realized what he had just done.
"Oh, crap! I'm sorry! I didn't realize," Mike began, but then he thought this was what he wanted to do all along,"I just thought you were really cute, so I kissed you."
Mike swallowed, smiling and softening his eyes. "I really like you. Will you want to go out with me?"
From an outsider's point of view, this would be a very corny scene, but this was the best Mike could manage. He was more straightforward then other guys and he though that maybe Amber needed something blunt anyways.

"Do what?" Lynn snapped, then saw his expression that told her it was best not to keep going at it; he'd already seen through her mask.
Lynn walked the length of the piano, her fingertips gliding along the smooth contours of the piano. She followed the outline until she came to the keys. She pressed a high note before sitting down next to him. She did not face him, but searched for the words to say.
"It's like a defense mechanism. You can learn martial arts to protect yourself physically, but what can you do to protect your heart?" Lynn finally said, "People react differently with you, but when you're like a proud b***h, people start avoiding you and they will accept you're a proud b***h. It's easier that way."

Amber took in a breath when he moved away, her mind still vaguely sorting things out. Everything he said she couldn't believe it even though she heard it all with her own ears.
"I..." She began her response, but faltered. For once she was actually looking directly at his face with him actually looking back. It made her nervous, of course, it was something she wasn't use to. She took a deep breath trying to stop shaking, it helped only a little bit.
"I really don't know what to say, like am I suppose to say 'yes', but that'd sound so weird, I know I want to agree because I know I like you too, but never did I think something like this would happen, I really don't know what to do-" Amber blurted out talking extremely fast, her sentence seemed to run on forever, unless he interrupted that is.

Jay listened patiently to her reason, thinking about it himself.
"That sort of makes sense, but you shouldn't be shielding yourself away from the world," he spoke softly. He himself never necessarily had these sort of issues to deal with, but way back when he was little he did. In elementary, he was pretty much the 'mamma's boy' or the 'sissy boy'. Piano was his passion even at that age, but people didn't understand how hard it really was. Stupid boys thinking that 'cool' was anything utterly manly. Luckily for him, his family moved to where they were now and he was able to start fresh.

Mike laughed at how cute she was! So adorable that he wanted to squeeze her tight. And that's exactly what he did. He wrapped her arms around her, kissing her forehead.
"I understand. I know what you're trying to say," Mike murmured to her before kissing her again.

Lynn stood up abruptly, walking away from the piano. She had her back turned to him.
"Let's just practise," she said genuinely as her.

Amber stiffened when he suddenly hugged her. Though she had to admit it was a nice feeling, so she relaxed just a bit. Plus, he was warm, she was a little cold from all the shivering. When he kissed her once more, she was prepared for it this time. Instead of leaving her eyes open through it all, she closed her eyes letting herself enjoy the moment for the time being, remembering to breathe this time.

"Alright," Jay nodded smiling to himself. Not only did her personality change a bit, her voice changed along too. It was nicer to listen to. He began to play listening to her sing, it sounded even better now that she dropped that artificial shell.

When Mike parted with Amber, he smiled.
"Same time tomorrow? You choose a song this time okay?" He asked of her.

Lynn finished a second time. This time she felt her eyes water a bit, but her back was turned from Jay. She blinked them away.
"Tomorrow you sing. I can play the piano," Lynn requested, then saw the questioning look, "My grandma taught me. I'm not passionate about it or anything. It's a good skill to have. Musical talent that is. Did you know that all four quadrants of the brain is used when playing an instrument? It's brain excercise. Um, so?"
PostPosted: Sun Sep 12, 2010 3:32 pm

"Um... Are you sure about that? I really don't have any song in mind..." Amber answered flustered, trying to find some sort of compromise. "Plus, I can't sing. So it'd be better if we stuck with you doing the vocals?" Though, truthfully, it's not that she couldn't sing, it was more like she was afraid to. Way too shy for her own good, or maybe it was just the inexperience. Amber got up brushing the dust/dirt off of her clothes. But, she felt a little guilty for not putting enough input. It was either dance or sing, but she couldn't do either. Well, she knew a little piano due to her mom trying to teach her, but it wasn't enough. She took a breath in before speaking.
"I-... I can see what I can do... But I can't guarantee anything," she finally said.

"I sing?" Jay merely stared at her when he heard her request. "I think it's best if you sang for the project and I'm pretty sure you agree. I'm a back singer, not a soloist." He packed his things as Mr. Schuester's words suddenly entered his mind. 'Get to know someone you might not know.'
"Well, on second thought, I'll see what I can come up with. Oh, and if you don't mind I can play piano too, not that I don't think you can, it's more like I'm more comfortable with it," Jay told her ending with a smile.

Mike took both her hands in his and looked at her earnestly.
"I really want to hear you sing. You know that I'm not that great at singing either. We'll do a duet for the project, but I want to see you perform," he told her, "It's just me. Don't be so nervous about it."

"Okay," Lynn agreed.
She only said for Jay to sing because she wanted to hear more of his voice. And well, when he's singing, she was pretty sure he'd look at her.
