She took another sip of her drink as she waited for him to speak again. Why was he trying to help her in the first place? She didn't know him and she couldn't see what he had to gain by doing it. "I'll keep that in mind." she said with a small smirk as the candles in the area flickered slightly. Flora still wanted to know why he was doing this but she guessed she would find out soon enough in the end.
After he left, she started to eat. It never took her long to finish a meal but she took her time this round. She had nothing to do here unless she wanted to find out what the man had been talking about. Leaving a small tip on the table, she finished her drink and then left the place. Central.. so that's where everyone had been headed earlier.. a fight perhaps? Well.. she could always check it out from afar.

"Don't underestimate your opponent kid"
Jazz quickly deflected the two blades with his sword, taking a step to his side as the spear grazes his side, slicing through his shirt and into his skin. Jazz winced in pain, jumping out of the way as he gripped his side.
"Scatter!"
As he leapt back the orbs shot out of the ground, surrounding them both. Before hitting the ground, Jazz gave a smirk of his own, interested in how this move would turn out.
"Ready!? Ricochet!"
Jazz snapped his fingers, on cue all of the tiny orbs exploded into tinier orbs, flying at high speed, bouncing off of the sword barrier around them. Jazz ran back, jumping at the barrier. As his feet made contact with the wall, he propelled himself off of it, flying at Mordikai, his orbs flying past him as he leapt through. Jazz threw his hand forward, orbs forming at the end of it to form a second sword.
"Let's end this kid"

Mordikai watched with hawk-like vigilance as bouncing spheres of light created a veil between him and his foe; even still, he never once lost sight of his opponent. He stalked the man with his eyes, still bent low to the ground over the blade of his lance, as the fourteen blades around him paired off into crosses to shield him from any orbs that might dare stray too close.
"Let's end this!"
At last, after several seconds of disorienting madness, Mordikai's opponent leaped forth from the storm of light. Jazz cleaved downward with one sword, intending to rend the boy in half; Mordikai shifted his weight to his right side at the very last moment, dodging the blow and bringing his blade closer to his foe. Even from inches away, Mordikai could feel the searing heat as the blade sliced into the earth. With his lance, he parried a strike from the second sword; sparks of black and white lightning spilled forth as the two blades clashed.
"Let's."
Using recoil to his advantage, Mordikai spun in place, bringing his lance about in the hopes of striking his still-recovering foe. He just barely missed; the black blade slid just above Jazz' shoulder as he drew his sword from the ground. Mordikai pressed the little advantage he had, mixing quick thrusts with violent, rending slashes to keep Jazz on the defensive.
Outside the constantly shifting and correcting wall of blades, the vicious storm of light still raged, like an apocalyptic blizzard--the only setting appropriate for a duel such as this.

Their blades clashed, light and dark sparks flying between them as the orbs kept their speed; bouncing from wall to wall. Jazz' eyes began to glow brighter, his concentration kept on Mordikai's strikes, deflecting them as they both stood statuesque.
"You're speed is impressive, but like I said...It's time we ended this game for now; I've had enough killing for one day."
Jazz' blades clashed one last time before he jumped back to dodge another strike. Jazz began to emit a soft glow as his swords were absorbed into his palms.
"...Gather.."
With that command, the thousands of tiny orbs stopped their paths and targeted Jazz. As they flew into him, his light began to glow brighter, his body shining. Jazz clenched his seared fist, all of the light being redirected into it.
"Let's see if you can withstand what only Tsuliria has so far; Shall we?"
Jazz' arm slowly rose in front of him, his finger and thumb extending to form a gun. Jazz' expression went from a grin to sheer seriousness, his glowing white eyes seeming almost evil. The light from the thousands of orbs slowly formed into his index finger, a small flickering orb at the end of it.
"I'd hate to repeat myself mind you, so yours will be different."
With that his energy went rampant. The light around them quickly flickered as he absorbed the light from the sun into him. The orb on the end of his finger exploded in size as it went from a small flickering light to a large, pulsing orb. One final smirk crossed his face as he pulled the trigger in his head.
"......Scatter"
The orb pulsed one last time before the collective orbs began to fire from it at breakneck speed. Thousands of orbs concentrated into a massive blast fired as Jazz flew back a little from the force.

All of his strength into a single shot? What a fool.
Mordikai watched as the sphere on the end of Jazz' finger grew larger, absorbing all of the nearby orbs into one projectile. Mordikai's blades all shifted behind him once more, hovering, poised in mid-air. He kept eye contact with Jazz, and after seconds of waiting, as the world grew colder and darker around them, Mordikai could see the shift in the martyr's eyes; his irises turned a brilliant white. Just before he released the blast, Mordikai tossed his lance up into the air, and sent his blades flying forward.
"Scatter!"
The instant the first syllable left Jazz' mouth, Mordikai dashed to the left. The shot rushed past him, searing the skin off his right shoulder as it went sailing into the wall of swords, decimating it. But before it even reached the wall, Mordikai had skidded to a stop and reversed direction, coming to a stop just feet from his opponent, who was still recoiling from the blast, clutching his limp wrist. As he planted his feet firmly on the ground, Mordikai snatched his falling lance from the air. He gripped it with both hands and brandished it toward his foe. In Jazz' eyes, Mordikai must've starkly contrasted the brilliant white explosion that decimated the barrier--an ebony entity of death in his own right. A malicious smirk once again split Mordikai's face, exposing midnight black fangs.
"That was the Endgame. And this? This is Checkmate."
Aside from the lance blade poised just before his face, Jazz was surrounded by each of Mordikai's fourteen blades of energy, each aimed at a different angle, a different spot; each ready to visit a different kind of ruination upon him. No escape was left to him.
"It's probably a good thing your Lord is so weak. Not even She can see the death about to befall you; not even the deity of Birth will be able to comfort you in the Afterlife." Once more, Mordikai laughed, hysteric mania overcoming his cool arrogance. At last, he got to prove his worth; finally, he was given his chance to observe the pain and suffering of one foolish enough to stand in his way.
"Summon Blade, Function Command: Terminate." A soft scarlet glow enveloped Mordikai's lance blade. "Enjoy it, Jazz. This death will be the only useful thing you'll do with your life."

Tsuliria let out a light yawn as she drew closer to the earth, her eye slightly twitched before she pulled her arms to the side and pointed her head towards the ground to lessen the wind resistance, her eyes setteled on Mordikai before they went to Jazz. Judging from his current position his life would be ending soon, her face remained blank, she shook her head for a moment before throwing the chain down at him, it wrapped around his stomach before she quickly pulled him up and out of the barrier towards her.
She released the chain and turning looked into his eyes as he drew near her, putting her foot on his chest she used him as a stepping stone to push her over the barrier, gripping the bottom of her outfit to keep it from flying as she turned upside down. "Idiot." Was the only thing she said before turning back towards the ground. She landed next to Ulior before glancing back at Mordikai. "Mordikai, retreat, our work is done." Ulior moved his hands away from the red energy caused it to sink into the earth, he fell fully to the ground breathing heavily, Tsuliria looked down at him before turning and walking away. "Someone pick up Ulior and let's move, move the wounded as well."
Tsuliria looked up to where Jazz flew before shaking her head.

"Idiot"
Just moments ago Jazz was at Death's door; now he was flying over a wall of blades.
"Tsuliria!!!"
As Jazz hit the ground, his wound had opened. As he gripped his side in pain, he scrambled to his feet. Stumbling to the outer wall of what was his arena, he punched it with what strength he did have left.
"Tsuliria!! How dare you woman!!"
Jazz wasn't exactly angry, he didn't know what he was. In his mind he wanted to die, to repent for his own murdering. Jazz turned, still gripping his wound. He began limping towards the outskirts of town, back to where it all began, the field, Karma's burial grounds.
"We're not done Tsuliria...not in the least. As for Mordikai...We'll see next time if you get your satisfaction."
Jazz spoke his words out loud, as if his enemy could hear him. His mind was racing with questions without answers. As the sun began slowly setting in the west, a cool wind blew through the town, carrying on it an ill omen of what was to come.

"Ungh! Please be more gentle," Mirela winced lightly, rubbing the side of her head. Apparently, sitting in the back of a carriage wasn't necessarily the best place to be on a bumpy road. "It isn't very roomy back here, you know. I've been sitting for hours and that was the third time you've hit a bump that sent me flying into the roof!"
Mirela was city-bound. After her mother's disappearance, she assumed that the best place to look for answers was the city. So, why not try there first? Shaking her head, Mirela shifted her gaze out to the passing scenery just beyond the carriage windows. It all came and left her sight so quickly she didn't have the chance to take any of it in. She assumed that's just how life and the world worked; Swiftly moving around all existence, never stopping, never skipping a beat.
This thought also confused her, however. If everything moved so quickly, how could anyone grasp life within their hands and hang on long enough to enjoy it? How could one let go after grasping it? She remembered being happy with her mother in her younger years, but not after her mother's disappearance. That was when everything slipped from between her fingers.
Returning from her thoughts, Mirela gently brushed a tear away from her cheek before gazing down at the obsidian-colored case in her lap. She lightly traced her fingertips on the surface of the case before they subconsciously found their way to the latches. Flipping them open, Mirela removed from the case a dull-colored violin.
"Mother," she whispered to herself before gently returning the violin to its case and locking it back up. "I'll get you back one day, I promise. Home with me, safe and sound." Holding the case close against her lap, Mirela laid her head back against the carriage seat, attempting to lose herself in thought.
When I get you home, you and I can perform again, just like before... When things were bet--
Mirela quickly rubbed her head, letting out a deep breath. "Four. Four times." Deciding that it would be impossible to rest, Mirela gazed out the window once more only to see a young-looking man with silvery hair walking in the opposite direction. She made a small face, feeling something odd about his presence. Mirela followed him with her eyes as the carriage rode past him, filling her with the strange feeling which told her that was very unlikely the last time she would see him.
The carriage came to a halt not long after that, and Mirela quickly emerged from it, holding her violin case against her chest. Speaking no words to the carriage driver, she took a few steps off to the side of the road, keeping her eyes locked in the direction of sunset. Finally shaking her head, Mirela began her walk into the city.

Jazz stumbled through the streets, his destination made up in his mind. As night slowly set in, the people still scrambling to make their way to shelter ran past him. The pain from his bleeding wound was almost too much to bear as he fought for the strength to push on.
A little while away from the gate to the feild, a carriage rolled by. Inside a young woman, her eyes staring at Jazz as she rode by. His eyes made contact with hers for only a second before breaking away.
"Foolish girl..."
Jazz saw the sadness in the woman's eyes, the mourning she was experiencing, yet she was heading into the fray just like all of the other followers of Birth. Why did they do it? Were their reasons for fighting this 'war' really worth risking everything?
Jazz turned into an ally way, his wound finally taking full effect. As Jazz clung to the side wall he noticed a shadowy figure leaned against the same wall a little further down. It was her, the envoy of death, Tsuliria.
"I don't have time for you woman..."

Tsuliria opened her eyes hearing Jazz's voice and leaned off the wall before turning to face him. After leaving movement of the troops to the fourth in command and Mordikai she followed after Jazz, however it wasn't to finish what she had started in the field.
"Your eyes...aren't as lively as before." She started walking towards him, he was obviously wounded and killing him now would take little to no effort, the chains reacted strongly as she drew closer, finally she stopped a few feet from him and stared at him, she didn't expect him to die and she was sure Reaper didn't either but he was beaten pretty badly, something was wrong with him, it wasn't physically at least not fully, his eyes didn't shine as bright from the day in that field.
To an extent there were no words she particularly wanted to say, she owed him no apology and she didn't feel like insulting him in the poor state he was in so she stood there silent before eventually crossing her arms under her chest. "Why.....why were you chosen?" She waited not for an answer but to let her words linger. "Why did he make me spare you, I don't get it. What can they see in you Jazz, that I can't. It bothers me."
She lowered her arms and shook her head. "Can you answer it Jazz?"

Jazz slowly balanced himself on his feet, his sheer will the only thing keeping him towards his goal.
"Perhaps it was just to piss you off"
Jazz placed a hand on Tsuliria's shoulder, the first time they had made contact outside of battle. He slowly walked past her, his eyes to the ground. Jazz slowly made his way down the alley before stopping and turning back to look at his rival.
"So why'd he choose you huh? Seems to me you two are just alike. Cruel, ruthless. Why would he choose someone so much like him?"
Without another word, Jazz walked on, out into the field where this war had truly begun.

Hearing his response she closed her eyes, it didn't seem he knew the answer to it either, that or he wasn't sharing, she assumed it was her first thought she opened her eyes to see him near her before his hand touched her shoulder. She wondered if he felt the chains when he touched her but didn't move nor did she look back at him as he walked past her.
The thing that did make her look back was his question, hearing those to words sparked something in the recess of her mind but she kept it there and watched as he faded into the distance. She turned forward again to see her men running through the city, one turned to her and motioned for her to hurry. She nodded and he continued to move, she started walking out of the alleyway. "The damned are doomed to forever rest in oblivion, kindness will save neither our souls nor the souls of those we meet." She faded into the darkness leaving the answer Reaper had given her when she asked the same question.

Night had fallen over the land. The cold wind blew as the silent chill of the night consumed all. Jazz was alone, back in the field where he had met Tsuliria and more importantly, where he saw the face of Reaper. As he slowly made his way up the hill where Reaper had stood before him, he thought long and hard to Tsuliria's question. Why was he chosen?
"Why Birth....Why must we take lives to save them?"
The guilt he bore was almost as painful as the cut in his side. Jazz' head was spinning, the memories of his parents death, the thoughts of Yolor's murder, it was almost all too much. Jazz clenched his fist, his body slowly beginning to glow.
"Birth! Why did you pick me to fight your battle!?"
Jazz' emotions flared, his deep rage towards Reaper, the memories that haunted his dreams, all came to the surface. His body erupted in light, his power unleashing itself as he slowly lost control. His eyes glowing brightly as his anger and sorrow filled the field. The light emitting from him tore through the night, the winds rampaging around his body. All of the energy inside of him rampaged. His wound slowly healing from the mass of light flowing from his body.
"If you really intend to save us then why don't you come down here yourself!?"
Jazz lashed out, his confusion fueling his blind rage. It had begun to be too much for his body to contain. He began to hurl spears of light into the night sky, their explosions flashing over the feild. The torrential power spreading from his body slowly began to tame itself. His eyes dimmed as he started to come back to his senses.
Soon Jazz was holding what light was left in him, his life was in his hands. He clenched his fist as he dropped his head. The explosions had subsided, all that was left was a soft glowing rain. Jazz stood motionless, a tear rolling down his cheek. His mourning for his lost parents, his confusion as to why he was dragged into all of this all in one tear. As the field calmed itself, Jazz reached into his jacket, removing Yolor's mask.
"I'm sorry Birth...this is something I have to do..."
As the soft orbs fell to earth, Jazz slowly lifted the mask to his face. Jazz had given up his title, he turned one last time to the city where Tsuliria, Mordikai, and his past lay. Giving a soft sigh, Jazz disappeared into the darkness of the night.

The morning sun shone on the still recovering village as people started waking up and heading to work, yesterday's incident still loomed heavily in the village. The guards were on edge, especially after burying their comrades for most of the night, the bright day only helped to create larger shadows within the hearts of the people in the city.
Ulior stood in central where the battle had erupted the day before, the ground was missing chunks, armor still decorated the once green and luscious field and a small smile formed on his face as he thought back to the chaos from yesterday.
He continued walking towards where he stood but fell after his foot hit something, he let out a small groan as he lifted himself up, looking back he saw a spear of light, blinking a few times he poked it with a nearby stick and decided to leave it alone.
He stopped where he once stood and holding his hand over the ground caused the red amount of energy to lift from the ground, the energy cackled and vibrated uncontrollably, he glanced back as the guards started moving into him. "I now control your fate."
With that he crushed the energy causing the red energy to start spreading, moving past the buildings and growing larger as Ulior laughed manically the red energy pouring from his hand. The barrier quickly enveloped the whole town, blocking all exits and all entrances, stopping at the very edge of the village.
Ulior opened his hand and looked up at the sky, it could be seen through the red barrier. "This town now belongs to me, no one can leave and no one enter without my jurisdiction."
Ulior raised his hand and snapped his fingers, Reaper's minions jumped from the distance and landed around him, others ran making the back before a crowd of people stood behind him. "Bow down now, and I'll make your death quick."' Ulior held his arms out. "I control you and everything you hold dear! Ahahahahahahahahahahah" He took a few steps back vanishing into the crowd as his troops turned and started running in alternate directions through town.
A figure stood in the dark looking down at the city, a long sword gripped in her left hand and her twin blue ponytails blowing in the wind, she looked out at the scattering men, the figure turned before vanishing into darkness muttering simple words. "Foolish child."
