Marius cocked his head, following. "He needs some AOP meetings," he muttered, referring to King Triton. He couldn't explain how he knew the merman king was overprotective to the point of almost stifling, but his instincts and gut feeling said this didn't seem quite so random. I can't shake the sense this kidnapping thing seems.... personal, as if it's payback for something, he thought.

Alia looked back at him for a moment and continued to swim back to her home, "How are you adjusting to your tail? To be honest, I think it suits you well..."

Marius chuckled. "It actually feels more natural than my 'human' legs do, oddly," he admitted. He cocked his head slightly, his eyes shifting as a number of multicolored fish swam past, watching Alia from the corner of his eye. There's something about her... it seems regal, even though she seems to fight it without realizing it, he thought. "I've heard 'surfers' talk about night runs, but I doubt they have this kinda thing in mind," he said softly, thinking of some of the offbeat people he knew on land.

Alia looked back at him and asked, "What is it like having legs? I've heard that only one mermaid was able to change her tail to legs so that she could live on land. I would like to see land someday, but I can never move any closer than the rock back there..." she sighed a bit, looking up, "I wish I could switch places with you..." she said more to herself than anything.

Marius sighed softly. "It's sometimes a little tricky, since legs give some advantages and if someone were really willing to hurt a person, they're also a weakness if one isn't careful. Running, walking, climbing... they're fairly fun, but climbing has its own dangers, as do some styles of martial arts; I do like Tai Chi for the fluid motions.... it reminds me of the ocean, while what an old man in the village called 'Chinese Kung Fu' reminds me of the power the ocean has... like in a storm, strong and fluid, yet dangerous in its own way," he said softly. He wasn't sure why he felt somewhat shy around Alia, but he liked her.

Alia looked at him as she swam and she listened to what he said, "I would like to do those kinds of things..." she then saw something glinting a distance away and she knew what it was. She was definitely not going to get it, that stupid crown made her life miserable, "Land sounds do much better than in the ocean. I bet women up there are respected a lot more and aren't forced to marry people they don't even love..."

Marius cocked his head slightly, noticing a look of almost distasteful resignation cross Alia's face. He noted she seemed unaware of it, though. "They are. About that mermaid you said gained legs...do you know her name and what she looked like?" he said softly. He had a feeling it was important, though why he couldn't explain even to himself.

Alia listened as he asked that and she turned to him, "Her name was Ariel, the daughter of King Triton. From what I was told, she had long red hair and blue eyes..." she sighed sadly, "If Ariel was still around, she could calm down her Father and stop this war that's broken out."

Marius sighed softly, pausing. "In that memory that flashed in my head.... she was part of it," he said softly. "If I'm right, this kidnapping thing with Melody and the fact Ariel is missing is connected.... and whoever did it meant it to be personal, like payback, yet remain hidden from sight," he said softly.

Alia nodded, "Well, we should find them quickly, so King Triton can stop attacking Coralia already. He thinks that we have Melody, but we don't have any clue what she even looks like," she sighed again, "Believe me, the King of Coralia and King Triton haven't been the best of friends and I swear if I hear that crustacean, Sebastien, chew us out again, I'm going to say something."

Marius cocked his head thoughtfully. "I hope he does... then we'd practically have a beeline straight to ol' Grumpy and Overprotective's ear," he said softly. "If I'm right, Melody may be in her mid twenties now, if my memories are right; she used to wear her black hair in a long ponytail either at the nape of her neck or on the top of her head, though she kept it hanging about the middle of her back; the fact that I found her necklace should get this Sebastien's attention," he said. And the fact that I seem to remember things nobody seems to know about them, he thought.

Alia thought for a few moments before nodding, "Yeah, I could probably catch him and make him listen. Sebastien is very crafty, he can get out of almost anything. We just have to catch him before he gets to Coralia. I would like to smack that crab though, I can't wait to see what he says when he has to apologize to Coralia for the things he said."

Marius cocked his head slightly, amused. "I can probably think of a few little surprises he might not expect," he said softly. He had one he hadn't revealed to anyone and it had happened several months before. Maybe music can attract the fellow, he thought.

Alia thought for a moment before she snapped her fingers with an idea, "I got it! Sebastien cannot resist music, it doesn't matter what he is doing, if he hears music, he will be drawn to it. I'm not the best singer, but I can do this," she swam down and grabbed hold of a couple long pieces of coral and began to play on the shells near by making the sounds of percussion instruments

Marius swam over, picking up what looked almost like the bow of a violin to him. His fingers plucked at it, a low thrumming note escaping it and wavering, the note rising subtly then falling as his fingertips slid up then down the string, which he suspected was kelp of some kind. Feels almost like catgut to the touch, though, he thought.
