Seth dipped his head. Failure, doomed. He was doomed. He just knew it. A fool doomed to failure. Then he saw he hand raise. He hesitated only briefly before shaking her hand. He was still unnerved by her voice in his head as she spoke up again. Unexpected yes very unexpected. "I am sorry, I had intended to go to your booth at the festival but it was destroyed before I could manage to get to it." She wanted him to sit next to her. He couldn't very well tell her no and not feel horrid. It would be rude to say no, right? Now he was just making up excuses he wanted to sit next to her but didn't want to. Complex conflicting situation. Well mayhap not a situation but the general idea was there. She was willing to help him. This was a good sign then no? She was taller then him... much taller.

Of all the times to realize he he had to realize it at the moment he was trying to not continue down his path of failure. It was an odd pause he was merely hovering there. He had to do something. Before he knew it it was like his body had gone on auto-pilot and was moving to the seat she'd motioned to regardless of him floundering within. He settled down next to her and turn to thank her for the offer just for it to hit him that she was really taller. He took a deep breath and it hit him. Moe had been tall too. He'd just met her without first seeing her but she was tall too. it was nothing... well as much of nothing as it could be to the short reaper boil. When Riley hissed he turned his head to see what it was that she hissed at. It was another boil. He was unsure what had occured but he couldn't just be rude and not thank her so he would. "Un Thank you. I don't know if I'll be missing much but I do uh... appreciate your offer."

He was unsure if she would hear him though because the boil she'd been looking at was spouting off in response to his brother. Student eating plant? He stared at the boil in shock. He gaze then darted at his brother. He was insane.

No, no, no no no. This wasn't happening. Israfel was just going to sit back there, looking innocent, and babble inappropriate things into her head, causing her to react in all sorts of - why was he suddenly talking about her and Malodore's mindmelding!? Riley was no longer paying attention to Seth, or anyone in the room, because she was slowly sinking into her seat, and turning a lovely shade of deep, dark purple.

She had never felt more relieved to hear Cadmus' smooth tones, because they had finally stopped the flood of thoughts coming from Israfel. She took a deep breath, collected herself, and tried to sit up straight again. Seth had said something, hadn't he? It had been hard to hear with all the blood rushing through her ears.

Oh! No, really, don't worry about it. Besides, it will help us get to know one another. This she said privately, since his brother was talking, and she didn't want to publically interrupt - she enjoyed having her own secret method of passing notes in class without the worry that she would get caught. In response to the mischief, she winked, and turned her attention back to the professor.

I think class would be a lot better if he wasn't wearing a shirt.

And as suddenly as it had returned, Riley's confident composure crumbled, and she slumped down, her head hitting the desk with an audible thud.

This class was going to be the end of her.

Professor Cadmus Says...

Cadmus nodded at least they were honest so far. Though he was surprised at the sirens bit about Steve. He had to bite his tongue to hold off saying anything in response to the comment about throwing other plants at Steve. The destroyed greenhouse was still a very big aggravation.

"Steve does have a taste for students. They are his comfort food. Though no I do not feed Steve students that break the rules. They are not good for his health. He's only successfully eaten one student and the witch ghoul's extraction left Steve unable to keep any food down for a month."

He shook his head remembering the incident. That had not been fun. A foreign island and Steve was ill. When he saw his brother staring at him he sighed shaking his head. Then the thud that came from the mindflayer caused him to frown.

Xiu jumped a little when she was suddenly hugged from behind, but she quickly recovered about realizing that it was Lizzy. Grinning, she immediately turned around to return the hug. "Lizzy!" Unfortunately, they weren't given much time to talk when the professor decided to start the class. Giving her one last hug, the Baku retreated to her seat, but not before waving at Sheridan.

Upon sitting down, she immediately flipped open her notebook and had a pencil poised at the ready in her hand, just in case there was anything to note down. At the question about Steve, however, the ghoul could only frown and shake her head, indicating that she knew nothing of the plant that Cadmus was referring to.

Well, nothing until the siren's question and their professor's answer, but all she learned from that was that she never wanted to be around this "Steve" alone. She didn't want to become plant comfort food, thank you very much.

She jumped a little at the sudden thud. While it wasn't especially loud, it was still audible in the near-silence of the classroom. She would have simply ignored it had she not seen Cadmus look in the direction of the noise and frown. Following his gaze, she turned to look at Riley with a sort of concern, her head cocked to the side in a silent question. Was something wrong?

Jove dashed into the room quite quickly, and realizing he was ever so slightly late for class, he slunk to a chair next to his brother. Ren was always a welcomed sight in his classes, and even moreso now that they were second year students. The pup was still not sure of himself, and although he wouldn't admit it, he needed a little bit more reassurance than most.

Peering around the room, his ears swivelled like little satellites to take stock of the situation. They were talking about... someone named Steve? Who ate a student once?

The pup glanced up at Ren, and then back around the room. Lots of familiar faces in this one, plus some reapers he wasn't so sure about, and some of his friends! He wagged his tail at those he could see, Demi, Levi, and Riley, who was slouching in her chair for some reason...

Demi simply sat there unfazed by the halfhearted attemt by West to ruffle his fur.

"Jack West, your becoming a big ol softie in year two~" he said offhand before the deeper voice of the professor took over all conversation in the class.

Once cadmus opened the topic to the floor, the hellhound took the time to flip open his Death notebook and a pen to be ready for any bits of info that might be suitable to jot down.

except when the pen dropped from his hands after what one of the students that come to think of it, he didn't know said. "He ate..... what." The hound was floored. what was it with professors and the eating of students?

However he quickly found his composure and cleared his throat before shaking his head, indicating of what little he knew of this Steve, expect of course that he should make himself very unappetizing within its presence.

The atmosphere in the room quickly changed after the mindflayer simply did a headdesk moment in front of them all, which seemed like something it normally wouldn't do, and its face seemed a lot more colorful than in the last few minutes. Demi was concerned that all this talk of eating may have made her feel worried or stressed, as he took his notebook and fanned her. "You alright there Ril?"

His tail went into paddle mode as Jove came careening into the room with as much haste as his little legs could muster. As much as the green eared boil wanted to say hi to his buddy, it would have to wait, lest Professor Cadmus gets mad and decides to show him Steve, up close and personal.

No thanks.

Roch had no idea who Steve was, and the fact that it ate students actually didn't surprise him. The teachers did that too. No, instead he had realized something interesting. Riley could speak in his head, right? So did that mean she could read his thoughts?

He couldn't help but try broadcasting (awkwardly, and perhaps failing horribly, or just being rather quiet) his daydream about a song he wanted to play. He had no clue that she was already in the middle of a conversation.

And actually, were she to try and read his mind it would usually sound like this, anyway.

Seth frowned and looked over at Riley where she'd slunk down and fell with a thud headfirst upon the table. "Oh dear Riley I do say are you quite alright?" He shifted in his seat aware that pretty much everyone was looking at Riley. He sorely hoped that he wasn't the cause of it or worse the talk of Steve. He cast a furtive glance at the professor where he was leaning against the table frowning.

He sighed perplexed before once more looking at Riley. He supposed he could make a comment about Steve. Steve was a mutant Venus Fly trap he knew that much and Venus fly traps were carnivorous so he could only assume Steve would be too. "Steve is a mutated Venus Fly Trap Plant thus he his carnivorous. That would make his diet a meat diet of sorts. Correct?" He had no clue that he was slightly wrong but it mattered not he'd spoken up in class so he could at least say that. He was peter brother he did now somethings even if he was assuming wrong.

Levi grinned and nodded to the mindflayer's offer regarding fitness club. When Lizzy came in, the tatzel offered her a good old Aye, screecheart! before the demoness hugged onto the Baku. Aww, these petite ghouls. Like two dolls, they are.

Her friendly smile paused with the turn of her head at a familiar voice.

Her tail swayed in response to this name-calling, and Levi turned to see -yep- West. He looked particularly disgruntled today, but Levi supposed he might just be bitter still about her visiting him. Darn tootin' There was more where that came from now that they were all back in the dorms too. The ghoul just needed to think of her next plan. Demi seemed to have taken a liking to pestering the boil to which Levi had to snicker at. It was just like the hound to pick a battle beyond himself. Always a hoot. Grinning in a I-know-what-you-did-last-semester sort of fashion, Levi let her teeth do the talking.

She partly just grinned and didn't say anything in response to West's nickname to add to Demi's fire (hey- she could take the bird demon). Mostly, however, it was because she really wanted to be attentive in this class and wasn't going to start anything at the moment. Flicking at one of Demi's ears with a finger, she acted as his personal cup of coffee by keeping him in attention to the class at hand. Aye- pay 'ttention, Rex. Levi gave a friendly wave to Jove who came in just in the nick of time for class.

About Steve... Levi only knew about the events from Botany basics. Steve's 'a right powerful plant. Got one heck of'a swipe on 'im. Nodding in memory of how many students it took for Steve to finally release the drop bear, the ghoul considered her answer sufficient.

Late, late, late! How could she have been late on the first day?

Tsetsiliya hurried down the hall towards the classroom, notebook pressed in both arms against her chest. This was going to leave a fine impression, indeed! Her first class as a Knob and she was late to it. Just wonderful. It seemed that she wasn't the only student who was running late though - just ahead of her, a small, blue-toned boil had ducked into the classroom. Increasing her speed in just the slightest, she too rounded the open door and into the classroom. Her face immediately reddened just the slightest as she looked towards the professor.

"I-I am sorry," she mumbled to Professor Cadmus, ducking her head in apology before sliding into a seat. Even if the professor might not have minded a student being a little late, apology was habitual to her. A sweeping glance around the classroom revealed a number of familiar faces, Ren and West's in particular, and with that her smile returned in just the slightest. She was late, yes, that's alright. But she was here, and she finally had a class with people she enjoyed being around.

Friends in class and getting to learn more about plants? Tsetsiliya was a happy camper.

Nyyrikki peered out from his hood at the discussion of Steve. Of course it would be Steve. Never not Steve. Praise Steve.

"I know he was on the boat, The Sea Weed, and he had an effect on us." He shrugged his shoulders and shook his head. "I don't know why, and I didn't like it." The boat trip hadn't started off all bad, but it had quickly done downhill from there. Very quickly.

Taryn had rushed back to her seat as the professor began class, rather enjoying the chatting but feeling that education took precedence. This Xiu, she was a potential friend... she'd have to remember her face and try to find her again some time that they weren't in class. Unfortunately, the question posed was not one she could answer. Steve? Who in the world was Steve? With her face downcast in shame she could only watch her peers and her professor through the tops of her eyes. She should have studied harder, gotten a syllabus...

Of course, given the students who did know of Steve, the chimera ghoul was slowly learning. A plan, a venus fly trap, that hungered for students... just how big was he, and what was his about boats?! Very strange. She perked as she listened, interest piqued, and was barely paying attention when a truly familiar face entered. Tset! Shamefully, Taryn bounced some in her seat and waved excitedly. Oh no! She was being... one of those girls! She turned back to face the front of the class, but shot Tset a glance through the corner of her eye and smiled.

Seth was talking. Seth was saying her name, and it would be rude to ignore him. However, Riley was quite busy having a repeated heart to heart with the wood of her desk. She would have to get back to him at a later date.
