ROXY "I'm sorry to hear that." She said trying to express her concern for them. "How understanding have they been about the Great War and your service?" She asked thinking they hadn't been understanding of that. "So they wanted you to settle down too?" She asked another question. She realized his position was diffucult but at least he wasn't forced to be Catholic when all she wanted to be they hypersexualized broadway star who wore makeup which was just as bad as liqour in those days.

Richard O'Sullivan"Neither of my parents understand it, and infact despise the fact that I was serving and aiding the British in anyway, and my brothers see it as a way go boost their own popularity by saying they have a brother who served in the Great War." O'Sullivan replied with a sigh as he looked at his water glass, wishing more than anything that it were full of alcohol. No one really cared about what the Great War did to the men who had gone there. There were no clinics, no mental professionals reaching out to veterans. They had to deal with their demons in their own way, which is what O'Sullivan had learned to do. He looked up at Roxy, "So it looks like we both escaped prisons." He cracked a smile, trying to lighten the mood.

ROXY "Why don't we change the subject." She said holding his hand which was resting on the table with her fire engine red nail polish. She gripped him and tried to stroke his hand in a seductive way to entice him so he could forget about his foolish family and the war. Not that she wasn't proud of him but it was clearly bothering him.

Richard O'SullivanO'Sullivan focused on Roxy's hand, though it wasn't hard to miss with the bright red nail polish on. He let the images push from his head. The images of Belleau Wood, and the rest of the Muse/Argonne offensive of late 1917 into 1918. Finally his eyes traveled up her pale arm, and to her bright red lips, and her beautiful eyes. Her movements on his hand was definately causing the reaction she desired, but again, as they were in public he controlled it as he desprately tried to think of something else to talk about, "Yes... we should." He said agreeing with Roxy's suggestion, but the problem was his mind could come up with nothing as it was currently being assaulted with memories of the war, and Roxy's seductive motions.

ROXY "Why don't you tell me about life before the Great War or any hobbies you enjoy." She asked trying to get to know him in some other ways. She didn't talk much about her hobbies or friends yet. She suspected she'd be next for this kind of questioning.

Richard O'Sullivan"Didn't have much time for hobbies." O'Sullivan replied, his own thumb starting to slowly rub Roxy's soft hand, the same as she had been doing to him. His goal was much the same as hers. He smiled at her, "Between Sunday school and work in the factory, I didn't even have much time for schooling. There was a kid down the street who taught us all to read. She died of the flu about five years ago now, during the big outbreak. Other than that, I was viewed as another body for labor to bring income into our family." He smiled again, his thumb still rubbing her hand, "What about you doll? You have anything to do outside of church?"

ROXY "Well I'm not longer part of the church or that life but when I was young I was in the choir and did as many plays as I could to build my craft. I guess it was a good thing that I did." She said stroking his hand and drawing a line in in to give him erotic chills as they waited. She almost wished they could pause dinner for this moment just so she could have him.

Richard O'SullivanO'Sullivan adjusted himself in his seat for a moment as a reaction to what Roxy was doing to him as he listened to her, "I guess it is. What type of plays were you doing? I doubt you were doing Vaudvilles at that age." he laughed lightly and picked up his water glass. His body was now raging at him, but he controlled it, knowing that the tension growing between them now would only serve to better the experience later.

ROXY "No." She laughed. "Just at school or if there was an oppertunity for a child or a teen at a local theatre in town...They let me do that if it was Christian enough and if I stuck to my studies and was a good Catholic. I stayed good for a while just so I could go and get some experience." She said as she continued to rub his arm.

Richard O'SullivanO'Sullivan nodded, "Being a good Catholic is subjective." He smiled at her as she continued her gentle touch, "The way the church wants you to be is not always what defines a good Catholic. Trust me I used to be a 'good catholic' too, but then the war happened. As long as you still have good intentions in your heart and belive the basic teachings then you should be fine. But the things they outlaw and say you have to do are crazy." he reluctantly withdrew his hand as their food arrived. In a way it was a blessing in that once they were done eating they could retire to his apartment for what they really wanted.

ROXY "Yes," She laughed as she saw the food was arriving and the waiter put it down for them. "Anything else I can get for you?" He asked as they both politely said 'no, everything looks great'. Roxy continued with her thought."They don't even like these red lips of mine but neither do the protestants...My point is that is small potatoes compared to my profession. I had to leave, it was my calling and I wasn't about to let anyone or anything stop me from my dream." She said sipping on a glass of water while she waited for O'Sullivan's reply.

Richard O'SullivanO'Sullivan nodded in reply, "I completely agree. You shouldn't back down to anyone." he smiled admiring Roxy's resolve, as he cut his steak. The girl definitely had her priorities in line, he just had to wonder where, if anywhere, he fit into the life of someone so driven. Especially when his line of work could land him in the city morgue at any minute, and that was only if someone were around who cared. He smiled warmly at her and took a bite of his steak. It was excellent, he only hoped her dinner was as good.

ROXY She smiled at him as she took her silverware and cut into her chicken. She took a bite and sipped on her water. "So have we covered all of our past?" She asked wondering if that is all they had to say or what else could they talk about. She wondered if sometime this evening while they weren't at dinner if they'd talk about what was transpiring between them as well as his offer to go to his appartment for some Bacardi.

Richard O'SullivanO'Sullivan nodded and continued eating for a few minutes, but his mind couldn't shift from how determined she was to meet her goals. Finally he paused in his eating, "You're so driven on your goals... does... does that leave any time for us?" He shook his head, figuring what he'd said was stupid, and also realizing that here was probably not the best place to discuss this. He didn't regret their relationship for a minute, but he'd started considering taking their relationship further... making it something more official, but if she was so carear driven O'Sullivan began to wonder if that was a real posibility.

ROXY "Did I make it sound like I didn't have time for you or anyone else?" She asked a little shocked. "Did I offend you because I certainly didn't mean to." She said grasping his hand again but in a more sweeter and loving way than a sexual way. She had a sad pouty look in her glimmering eyes and lips as she waited for his reply hoping she hadn't hurt him. She was begining to feel this was the talk but she didn't want to be the first to admit it. She wanted to make it clear she had time for him. She was just making a point about her family.
