Francesca Gattarini "A taxi driver does tend to meet all sorts of 'lovely' people in the course of a day." Francesca said with a light laugh before sipping her champagne. Prohibition be damned the sweet bubbles were worth the risk of jail time. "So why don't you tell me a little more about yourself, like why you brought yourself down to my little slice of heaven?" So far she liked him which was odd, she had grown to have a distaste for most men. The fact that she liked him so easily was in no small part to the way old Tony had talked him up, she knew Tony wouldn't like this but she also knew he didn't have much choice. The world was harsh and doubtless Tony's questionable paycheck was what had been keeping their little family above water. You couldn't make 'honest' money like that these days.

Jesse Valentini "You got that right, the loonies I use to have to deal with, and thanks to you now I'm out of it." Jesse replied with a chuckle before drinking the rest of his champagne, the feeling of alcohol was something that Jesse was sure to savor, despite how fast he could down it, it only made the buzz more pleasant as he then set his empty glass down gently, he almost considered to having another glass, but restrained himself as he decided to have a bread stick instead, as he took a bite, Gattarini asked him a question about himself, it made him slightly nervous as he couldn't really describe himself other than saying that he was just 'that Italian guy' meaning the kid had less confidence than he was pulling off, however she mentioned a question on why he came here to see her, and luckily, Jesse had a better explanation for that one. "Why did I come to your little piece of heaven? Well...My reason for coming here was to actually make a living, sure it's illegal and their are plenty of decent jobs out there with an honest pay, but with Tony's funeral, a lot of his money was put into it, leaving my sister with not much, and with her trying to support herself and the baby by just acting like a single mother wasn't an option of mine, I want my sister's expenses paid and I wanna make sure her kid gets the best uncle anyone has ever had...I need this for her...For them..." Jesse replied with a solemn expression on his face and a soft and genuine tone that had the smallest hint of pain that Jesse had been going through emotionally, between the loss of his parents when he was 16 to Tony's funeral. Jesse's solemn look broke into a soft smile as he simply looked down at his empty glass and the bread stick that he held in one hand. "I probably sound crazy or odd, maybe even stupid , after all, I'm sure most guys would want the money, the booze, and the honeys." Jesse implied with a sheepish tone in his voice as he took a bite of his bread stick.

Francesca Gattarini "True, but most men leave off the bit about the honeys. That would be my uncle heres department. But, your reason sounds more noble,. So, where are you, your sister and her child staying? Are you at least in a good place?" She asked before she polished off her champagne and pulled out her cigarillo case. Popping open the silver case and putting one of the tightly rolled sticks in her mouth she took one of the matches from the center piece and lit the tip till it glowed red. A mere snap of the wrist extinguished the flame and she took a small drag before puffing a smoke ring at the ceiling. "At least far more noble than mine." She added for reasons she was not sre why.

Jesse Valentini "Most you say? That has to mean some admit to it..." Jesse replied with a chuckle as he looked over at the elder man when Gattarini mentioned her uncle as he gave his respect by giving the man a nod and a smile as he did so. 'Noble' didn't seem to be the right word to fit Jesse, or so that's what he thought himself as he already felt like he stabbed someone in the back, even though it would never be noticed nor confronted since that someone was now 6 feet under. Jesse listened intently to Gattarini's words as she asked him where his family and him were staying, this made Jesse's eyes widen slightly as he remembered....They had to move, knowing that Tony was killed off on his way to do simple and personal errands, Jess felt paranoid that they may know his address. "Well, now that you mentioned it, My sister, her baby and I live in a well kept apartment, it's actually really nice, but We'll be moving out of there soon, not sure where we'll be heading to, it's just with the loss and everything we don't wanna walk home into what once was anymore, I mean memories are precious, but it's the place we're living in that just gives us a hard time..." Jesse replied, dodging the whole paranoia, but he wasn't a liar, Jesse really did feel uneasy for his sister, noticing she would sometimes stare out the window like she usually would do durring dinner, expecting him to come home, with his new job, Jesse would be able to find another place to stay as well, with Gattarini mentioning that his reasons more more noble than hers', making him look up at her with a slightly bewildered expression on his face as he simply smiled and shrugged. "We all have our reasons...noble or not...We're still all on the same boat, we just wanna live today and wake up to tomorrow, rinse and repeat."Jesse replied, feeling a little nervous as he held his breath after what he just said, he always found himself having trouble with finding the right words to a conversation, and the way he responded to Gattirini, he wasn't even sure if he was even suppose to respond when she said that.

Francesca Gattarini Smiling at her new driver she sighed. "Again, true enough but papa always seemed to ensure that any man who tried to pick me up. Got picked up........and dropped of a bridge. When One's papa is one of the don's of New York you can either become an old maid or marry the man papa deems worthy and so far for me that would be no one. While my sisters and brothers already are married with children. Being the 'baby' is no fun. That's why I am here for fun, which means I need the power." She leaned over and kissed her uncle on the check and Papa's faithful spy was sent with me to keep me safe." She added teasingly. She truly loved her uncle and found him to be one of the best friends and counselors she could have asked for.

Jesse Valentini Jesse looked over at Gattarini and smiled, he wasn't looking at her in any kid of rude or piggish way, he was simply admiring how she described her father, a powerful man who couls either make you or break you with the snap of his finger, and how protected he was over his daughter, Jesse couldn't blame the man. "I see, your father loves you a lot, If my sister's baby turns out to be a girl I would probably act the same way...Even if I was a nobody..." Jesse replied with a smile as he watched as Gattarini kissed the old man on the cheek, that old man was her uncle and to see them close was a bit heart warming, Gattarini went on to start her own business to prove to her father how strong she could be, and if it wasn't for the fact that Jesse was a nobody, he would of been more than happy to ask a dame like her out for dinner, seeing as he found something about her being so confident and in charge that made the heat rise up to the man's cheeks. Hearing the door open, Jesse couldn't help but glance over as he saw a rather serious and sharp looking man enter the club.

Johnathan Hartman I step out of the car and put on my hat for the few steps to the door. "Never eaten here before either. Experience for both of us I guess." I had only heard about this place through the other guys at work. What was a German thinking walking in to this place? Whatever it was, I'm glad I still had my gun on me.

Francesca Gattarini With a light laugh she tossed back her glass of champagne, grabbed the bottle and started to pour herself another glass. "I wouldn't worry about your sister the people that need to know she is under my wing. If they so much a try to frighten her they will end up on a slab. I may not be an angel but I protect my own. After all what is life without family." Francesca noted the two men coming in the one she knew to be a gun runner able to get quite the collection of toys for the games that were played in Chicago. The other man did not look like much just some regular Joe that seemed to be following the Kraut. Not giving it another thought she turned back to Jesse. She had plenty of eyes here anyway, this was her castle.

Jesse Valentini Jesse smiled, looking over at his new boss feeling a lump in his throat the way she talked about how protected she had his sister, and talking about family, it was amazing how nervous Jesse had felt walking in, only to now feel like he was already at home with family and how comfortable he felt, even with that voice...That voice that sounded like Tony that was in the back of his mind, faintly yelling at him for his decision. Looking at his boss to see her take a glance it seemed to be nothing as she simply looked back at him as he simply kept his charming smile. "Even as a nobody right now, I already ran into some good fortune, I trust you 110% for keeping my sister and her baby safe..." Jesse started with his usual boyish grin and genuine gratitude in his tone of voice as he watched Gattarini finish pouring herself another glass as he then went ahead to pour himself another glass, only half as much than there was before, trying to drink a little discreetly to get away with it from his sister. "So, Gattarini, just curious, but when will i be expecting my first escort? Or is it just one of those on the call jobs?" Jesse asked simply as he took a sip of his drink, hearing another walk in as he simply took one glimps before looking back, trying to push his nervousness to the side, he had only been involved in the family for 20 minutes and it already feels as if he had to watch his back.

Francesca Gattarini "You will be on call, I will put you on salary you get the same pay if you drive or not, and I might ask you to act as muscle on some of the big nights here at the club." She said before finishing her cigarette. "You have anybody besides your sister, or any young friends looking for work I am also looking to beef up details on my booze running trips to Canada." Francesca added simply as she snapped her fingers to summon another waitress and placed an order for some rosted chicken and green beans. "You boys want anything?" The waitress asked the men once she had Miss. Gattarini's order.

Johnathan Hartman Whether it was lost in translation, he earnestly forget the question, or he was giving me the run around I was going to have to repeat myself. "Fiona Hayes. She worked at the Phoenix Rising club. Word there says you were real sweet on her." If things kept going this way I'd have to make a choice: flash the badge and tell him I wanted the answers I was looking for, or play it out as being someone with the wrong kind of connections and see if I could scare it out of him that way.

Vith a friend ven Ich first came here. Ich haff never heard of your freundin." Gerulf had finished packing his pipe and lit it. The glow of the fresh tobacco lit up his face slightly. He took a few puffs on it and then asked "Vat ist it zat you do, exactly, Mr. Hartman? Du klingst wie ein Polizist."

Johnathan Hartman Being a German immigrant after the war would have been too hard to keep a shop. This guys dirty and I know it. But that's the problem with this kind of world: I could know it, the judge could know it, the jury, the bailiff, the prosecution, the defense, even the president, doesn't add up to a full house unless you could prove it. Flashing the badge would pull him even further away and cut me off from the only lead I had. Looks like it was time to bluff. "My business is in business. I keep the shows running and watch out for the good guys. Do you really think the cops would care about a dead show girl? She was going to have a part in the upcoming show which means now it's all off because she's dead which means business isn't running. Now you see my implications?" I hate poker.
