[PRP] Flower Petals

The familiar light jingle joined the somber shaking her head, the charms swaying back and forth with the movements.
"What is a name supposed to be like?" She asked.

"Well..." He paused with a frown, trying to figure out the best way to explain it. "A name can be almost anything you want - there are names people give other people, like Luke and Alder, but some people give their pokemon the names of some objects or plants - like Juniper or Star or Rosemary. Though, some people give such names to other people, as well," he added a little uncertainly, his frown deepening as he considered. This was a lot harder to explain than he thought it'd be.

The Jirachi's eyes remained wide and staring, watching him trying to explain, but as he continued too she shook her head slowly, to show that she wasn't sure what he was saying, or how to use what he was saying.

Well that certainly wasn't working. "Ah, a name is... Usually one person gives another person - or a pokemon - a name, but sometimes they pick their own name. You can pick your own name, too, and it can be whatever you want it to be. Whatever word or name you think sounds nice and would like to be called," he added. "It doesn't have to be like what other names are, if you don't want it to be." Maybe that helped a little better..

"A name is given to you by someone else... but sometimes its not..." She clearly was confused by this, furrowing her brow "Who is supposed to give you a name?"

"Oh, ah," his brow furrowed lightly as he thought, though his expression cleared as he endeavored to explain, "like a parent would give their young child a name when it's a baby, or a trainer would give their pokemon a name."

A flash of something she understood from what he was feeling caused her to pause.
The word parents, linked with that feeling that she was mildly familiar with, from the others she had been living with in the darkness, feeling the longing for a comfort that they could only remember. She did not know what it was, or where it came from, but she was getting the same sense from Alder now.
She frowned the creases in her face showing her frustration. "I don't understand."

She could tell that he was trying his best to explain this to her, but she also got that this was something that seemed like common knowledge, she should know it like everyone else. But she couldn't understand it.
"I don't know what any of that is."

Oh. Well, this clearly wasn't helping. "I'm sorry, it's a little difficult to explain," especially when the one you were trying to explain to didn't understand a number of basic concepts they took for granted. "But, I don't think you really need to understand all of that to have a name - if you hear a word or a name you think you'd like to be called, then you can use that as your name."

frowning deeper the Jirachi looked back down at its hands, spreading the fingers open closing them, then opening them a little looser again. He said that it didn't matter, but she could feel it, he might have believed his words but she knew that it mattered, in a way at least.
lowering her hands to her side the Jirachi flopped back onto her back, curling up on her side.

Shoot, and now he'd gone and upset the poor thing. What did he do that for? "What's wrong?" He asked, his brows furrowed in concern as he tilted his head to the side to try and see its face better, if at all. "Are you alright?"

"Too much." She said from her chair not moving "I don't understand anything."
squeezing her eyes shut she placed her hands over her head "Its too much, and it makes no sense."

Ah, alright. At least it wasn't suddenly tired or something wasn't suddenly terribly wrong. "It is a lot to learn," he admitted, though his tones were warm and encouraging. "Learning takes time, remember - you won't know everything right away. But you'll learn over time, don't worry."

She didn't think she would, at least that what it felt like. but the Jirachi nodded at least accepting that he believed what he was saying.
World outside her darkness was much too complicated. "you're telling the truth."

The Jirachi's words made him smile, and he nodded, though he wasn't quite sure at all why the legendary would say such a thing. "I'd like to think so, yes," he said. Switching tracks, since the pokemon seemed to want to be done talking about this, Alder asked, "Are you hungry?"
