The outburst had done a good job in startling Rosie as well, the blond jerking up slightly and taking a step back as books went flying across the room.
As quickly as it started though it had ended, and the Jirachi had lowered herself onto the ground.
For a moment Rosie stood watching the Jirachi again her posture sinking at the sight of its distress, Everyone seemed to fall still after the outburst as well, though the movement from Where Luke sat drew Rosie's attention for at least the moment he looked at her.

She might not be an empath but she knew that look, and the thoughts behind it.
Rosie shook her head gently, though looked back to the Jirachi as he lowered his own gaze.
At the time she felt that to leave the Jirachi laying there crying would be unhelpful, though Luke had started to get up at this point, Rosie reaching out to help him as she joined him by the Small legendary now sitting on the ground her head bowed forward with her face in her hands.

There was a point as Luke spoke, that the Jirachi wasn't sure where her emotions began and Luke's ended, though it was the guilt that she knew was Luke's a great deal of it.
If she heard him, it wasn't at first completely obvious, as she just continued to sob, the only hint might have been that her crying had eventually calmed down.

Tiny white fingers lowered from a tear stained face, and the large amber eyes, still glistening with tears look up at the humans now crouching next to her.
"Do you think... Those men killed them? Like what they did to that one today?"

It was at this point that Sera finally returned to the apartment's interior, brandishing the phone and Ray's credit card in one hand with a flourish as she announced, "Pizza's been ordered!" She seemed completely oblivious to anything and everything that had transpired in her short absence.

He had been listening with interest, hoping to learn more, and still curious about the talking pokémon, hoping to learn a bit about what exactly they were, when the scream interrupted the talk and everything seemed to go... wobbly or something.

It seemed like some kind of pokémon attack, and so he signaled at Jeeves automatically- fingers curled in, one thumb up- and, with a nod, using his vines, Jeeves was across the room and looking toward the Jirachi warily, but with concern.
Nothing seemed to be attacking it.
Something like shrug was offered back to his trainer.

Meanwhile, the egg wriggled again, reacting the scream, while Ray protected it. A very slight 'crack' could be heard for those with good ears and close enough, and a new mark appeared, small but there, on the previously unblemished shell.

As Sera re-entered and announced pizza was ordered, Lin found himself, wordlessly, putting his thumb up while he stared across the room, still a little bit shaken.

He settled on his heels, watching the Jirachi's gradual, subtle change in demeanor. The question was not one that he immediately knew how to answer; sugarcoating or feigning niceties wouldn't help her in the slightest, but it seemed cruel to simply shrug and leave it up to her imagination. He tried to find something in between, "I don't know, but I think most people would prefer not to kill others, if they can help it." Not that the people they had encountered had seemed anything like beacons of morality and compassion, but there were more reasons to avoid killing living things than just integrity.

Verbal responses very seldom meant anything to the Jirachi. Where she got her answers and the real understanding of what anyone truly meant was in the way they felt during communication.
Through the emotions they felt from their experiences, to the way they responded to others or interacted with their environment, delving into the recollection of memories and responses to something as simple as the experience from the wind against their skin. She could get a whole scope of truths about the world around her, in a way she could have a better chance of understanding.
She felt something in Luke, a sickness at the thought of killing, a deep uncomfortable ache and a truly unwelcome feeling that she could have no grounds to doubt him in his truths. To take a life was a truly terrible thing.

She knew that it was not shared by the men in the mines, but with Luke's resolve, and the confidence that Rosie felt about those words had to be worth the answer, and right now it seemed the only one any human could offer.
It granted her little solace though, as her eyes again turned to her ground she dipped her head to reach her hands to rub at her wet face
"They didn't care." She replied defeated.

Rosie reached a hand out to place it gently on the Jirachi's head, smoothing her hand down the crystal surface and causing the pokemon to glance up again.
"We're your friends now too, you know." The blond said, dipping her own head down and tilting her head as she spoke to the Jirachi a slight smile meeting the teary blinking gaze of the legendary.
"You were sent to us for help, right? That's something we can always promise we'll do for you, even if it gets hard like it is now. We won't give up on you, or your friend." She paused her smile falling a little, but the gentleness never leaving her eyes.
"We might not be able to promise that we'll find all the answers you've been looking for, but the best way we can help you is what Luke said, You probably feel it huh? That he knows. I think the best we can ever do for you is be able to help you find who you are from here on, help you become what you're supposed to be, and not lead you back to the darkness and sadness you've always talked about with such a sad look on your sweet little face..."

Again the Jirachi didn't hear the words, but felt them, It was the same with Luke's though her moment of screaming anger had passed, she knew she felt it from him.
Luke always had something going on in him, a storm of feelings that were sometimes hard to keep track of, and at times just too much. But within them she had felt what his words had meant about... the future... It wasn't something she considered too much... she realized.
He had an understanding about that concept that made her feel like she should not have dismissed his words so readily in the fit of disappointment. That the future was something worth looking forward to, even while the past could be a tremendous burden.

Rosie was the spark that the Jirachi had only felt one other place, and it wasn't the first time that she would realize the familiarity the girl held... That hope and a bright pride in the belief she had for the other humans, their pokemon, the League and for her own words.
That no matter what, through all worry, fear and sadness; there would always be hope. And that it was worth so much more than anything, it was worth putting faith in and fighting for.
If there was one thing her friend had taught her in the suffering darkness, it was that.

"You want a name... right?" Fingers traced gently in comfort down the the back of Jirachi's head.
the question brought the wet eyes back up to Rosie, staring in a quiet eagerness, not replying verbally, instead she nodded once, timidly and looking to Luke as well.

Ray didn't just hear the crack, she felt the crack.
Having been listening in to Luke trying on console the upset Jirachi, a very still expression on the women's features, but an intensity in her stare.
All of that flashed away in a moment as the egg cracked.
"Oh oh oh oh." Ray gasped, looking down at the egg, then holding it out to Lin again "Oh look at this."

She didn't at all seem too concerned about the new mess, or in interjecting herself into the attempt to console the Jirachi, as the two seemed to have it covered she thought.

As Sera walked in, the tall women made a gesture to her from to hurry over and pointed to the egg.

He frowned lightly at the Jirachi's response. It was true that the men had shown little reverence for the Mew as a living creature and had apparently thought nothing of destroying its life. Driven by anger and frustration, it was entirely likely that they hadn't even thought of it as a life - just a defective product that needed to be disposed of somehow. He was fairly certain, though, that it would have been a different story if the life in question had been that of a human child, something recognizable and relatable even to individuals who didn't know anything about pokemon.

"A name, huh…" he repeated quietly. Luke could understand very well the anxiety of not knowing one's own name; if he thought about it much, the matter of his own name still made him deeply uncomfortable, leaving him with the feeling that he had rejected his own identity in favor of stealing someone else's. The Jirachi was in the fortuitous position of being able to determine her own identity without the fear of disappointing or offending anyone. "What kind of name do you want?"

The question has been posed to her before, way back when she had first met Alder, but like that time the Jirachi just sat there, stumped once again at a reply, and showed as much by shaking her head with a growing frown once a moment of her confused silence had passed, joined later with a shy uncertain shrug.

With a shrug, Sera moved to join Ray on the floor, although she had no idea who the other guy was with the egg. Wordlessly the brunette handed the phone and card back to the woman. The pizza had been successfully ordered, and thus she had no use for either anymore.

Luke thought carefully for something that might help the Jirachi. "Are there any words that you like in particular, or that feel special to you?"

Again the Jirachi shrugged "Alder already asked me that. I don't know." She replied with great sense of discouragement.

Rosie hummed lightly, putting the heel of her palm under her chin as she thought about it for a little bit. "Well, lets see, Lets go over a few then. Like... you kind of look like a little star, like wishing on a star. So maybe Star?"

The Jirachi tilted her head, and lifted a corner of her mouth, "Mmm... I like stars..." Though she didn't feel too thrilled about being called Star

"I'm not very good with names," he admitted. "Most of my pokemon are named after mythology." Save for Mieu, who was apparently named after the peculiar sounds he made as an Eevee. Something about stars, though, huh… "A lot of the stars have names," he recalled. "Maybe there's one that you would like?"

"That's a good way to find names though." Rosie said with a soft smile, discounting his claim that he wasn't good with names.
His idea of naming after a star name was a good one too. And though the Jirachi tilted her head
"Like what?"

Rosie thought about this one, "I don't know a lot of star names." She admitted, digging into her phone "I know some constellations, Like Draco, or Leo.. big dipper, Orion, " She took a moment to pull up a search "The only star that I know off at the top of my head is the North Star... Mmm Polaris?" She questioned unsure if thats what it was called.

"The North Star?" The Jirachi asked, looking back over at Rosie blinking a couple of times.

Luke nodded, "I know that one. People use it for navigation because as long as you follow it, you'll always be headed north. Kind of like a compass."

"Its always north?" The Jirachi asked, looking to Luke now as he explained as well, a sense of interest from him, a sudden familiarity that got her excited about it as well. "But how to you find it?"

"Its pretty easy to find actually, its one of the brightest stars in the sky."

Rosie stood up, walking to the cracked window, and peering out of it for a few seconds. "Ah, See, its right there."
The Jirachi quickly floated up and to the window to see as well.
