It took a good, long time before anything near silence came to the classroom, but when it did, Selene stood up straight and clapped her hands. This signalled the beginning of her lecture, not that it was obvious.
"Welcome, welcome, new and old! My name is Professor Selene, and some of you have already been to my previous classes so you are aware of how to conduct yourselves while here. There are many new faces as well, and for those of you who have not met me before, let me be clear - my class is in lecture format, with an activity after I've filled your heads with delicious knowledge! So pull out your pens and paper, as you will have homework based off of this lecture and your experience today! Tut tut!"
She did not wait for the students who hadn't prepared, to find - borrow - steal their supplies. She immediately started in on the lecture, waddling shakily behind her desk to the chalkboard on the wall. "Today we will be learning about the seven gateway doors that are hidden in the Weeping Forest, also known as the Holiday Doors!"
It was even harder to hear her when she had her back turned. Students in the back probably couldn't hear her at all.
"We will be discussing six out of the seven, because I think you are all well aware of Halloween, our home, pride and joy!" She giggled into her hand, as if she'd made the funniest joke, and continued.
"So let us begin! Let's see, we have.."
Selene was very, very short.
She also took far too long drawing out little symbols for all of the holidays, and the class had started to chatter behind her in the process.
"And those are the - students, tut tut, you're in a classroom, no more talking please! These are the seven Holiday Doors. They lead to all of the worlds that connect us, all of the worlds that humans have created through their emotions. And did you know, in each of these doors are separate worlds, and they all have doors to us as well! Lucky us, these doors are hardly ever used, and we keep to our own holidays, don't we?" She chuckled into her hand, amused at the idea of visiting the other worlds so freely; Selene had not been employed at Amityville during the Train field trips.
"Now, everyone please take notes, I will give you just a bit of info on all of the Holiday worlds!"
Selene had a chalkprint on her long, black dress - this was her unknowing penance for using her hand to make the thanksgiving turkey.

Valentine's Day
"We will travel through the doors in a linear fashion based on date. If we consider the first of Frost October to be the first day of the year, then the first Holiday that humans celebrate in their calendar year is Valentine's Day! Many of you are very familiar with the concept of this world, because we have adapted our own special version of the holiday to celebrate - Scarentine's Day! It falls on the same day as that of the humans, which is the 14th of Short October! And what a lovely day it is, mm? A celebration of love, and the color red! And hearts! Living, beating hearts!"
Selene's information on the subject was based off of her own research on humanity, and thousands of well published documents by other famous Halloween writers. This, of course, meant most of the information was wrong.
"I believe Franklin Stein wrote on his first exposure to the celebration of Valentine's Day in the human world, if I can remember correctly - to quote - " She cleared her throat, and took on a gravely tone. "Franklin found himself under severe prejudice, since he had no working heart - the humans threatened him with pitchforks and red, red fire until he cease and desisted." She nodded thoroughly. "If you'd like to learn more, our library has several books on Mr. Stein's works and experiences with the humans, they are quite a delightful read!"
She moved to push one of the baskets forward. They were filled with red heart shaped candies. "The Holiday world of Valentine's Day was created based off of the emotion of love, and the world of Valentine's Day is remarkably pleasant! There, you'll find many a small flying gnome - they call them cupids there! And these cupids seek to shoot you with harmless arrows that cause you to feel quite emotionally attached to anyone around you. This is also a world filled with many kinds of chocolate, and red, so much red! But alas, not a lot of blood - not even the arrows pierce through. A bit of a disappointment, wouldn't you say?"

St. Patrick's Day
"The next Holiday on the human calendar is St. Patrick's Day. This holiday takes place during Storm October, is known for over-use of the color green! This is of course because of a human's obsession with luck, particularly when it comes in the form of four leaf clovers. They're very difficult to find, you know, but oh, how they try!"
Selene pushed a basket forward, filled with colorful little marshmallows. "In the Holiday world of St. Patrick's Day, all sorts of lucky charms can be found littering every corner and haven. The denizens of this world are also small gnomes known there as leprachaun, I'll spell that for you - l e p r a c h a u n, that is quite the mouthful! These little darlings are all dressed in green, and they strive to collect and hoard gold en masse. If you catch one, he will probably assume you are there to steal his gold, and attack. How vicious!"
Selene giggled, clearly not serious about the vicious part.

Easter
"Now, today is actually the day that coincides with the holiday of Easter! This is one of my favorite holidays, because humans use it to celebrate new hope. What an enchanting idea, is it not? Easter is the day when everyone can start anew, given a fresh chance at life. Ah, humans have such brilliant little ideas!" She seemed to speak of humans fondly, as one would speak of a pet.
"The denizens of Easter Town are main of the bunny or chick variety, though there are a few eggs with legs hopping about, ha ha!" Both of her hands covered her mouth to hide her giggles this time. "Eggs in general are a focal point of the holiday, since they too are a sign of new life! But in general, this holiday also seems obsessed with chocolate. You'll see on your desks the little treats I left you, shaped like bunnies! A typical Easter treat."
She pushed another basket forward, filled with colorfully wrapped eggs. "These candies here are very famous around Easter, because they're filled with creme that looks like an egg. I promise you, they are not an egg! But they are quite delicious."

Independence Day
"Next we have Independence Day. This is a day that celebrates freedom! Freedom from what, you may ask? Well, as you know, humans are greatly oppressed due to the fact that they are our main food source. But we have fought hard to make sure their rights as a species remain protected, and they are not harmed when we scare them for Fear! This is a wonderful thing to celebrate, and although it's not documented, I would truly like to believe the humans are thanking us for being so thoughtful!"
This, of course, was not even close to the truth.
"On this day, great big noisy firecrackers are sent up into the night sky to shower the world with color and light. Red and Blue are very popular colors for celebrating this day! And in Independence Town, those colors are represented in stars almost everywhere you look. Denizens of this town are fierce, proud people who seem to love noise and explosions! Isn't that exciting?"
She pushed the basket of thin packets forward. "This particular candy may be new to you. They are called Pop Rocks, and they are small little kernels of candy that crackle delightfully in your mouth. They are a popular representation of the sound and excitement this day celebrates!"

Thanksgiving
"We're reaching the end of the calendar year, and on the month of Waning October we find a celebration known as Thanksgiving! The key to this Holiday is in the name - it is a day to give thanks! Think hard, for a moment. I am sure all of you have much to give thanks for, in your life. Why, just existing is a blessing you owe to humans, in and of itself! Truly, there is much to give thanks for."
She pushed the basket, filled to overflowing with big, fat, round turkeys. "The denizens of Thanksgiving Town are called Pilgrims. They are very quaint and traditional folk, who seem to enjoy wearing black clothing and funny little hats. They also seem to enjoy turkey very much, which is a shame, because - well, you can imagine the turkeys don't really enjoy it, mmm? Speaking of turkeys, I made these chocolate turkeys for you all myself! Don't they look darling?"
Selene seemed hesitant to talk too much on the antics of the pilgrims in Thanksgiving town, and her home-made turkeys were a perfect distraction.

Christmas
"And now we come to the last door, one which you are all quite familiar with as well. Christmas Town has a lot of history with Halloween Town, and anyone who knows the story of our great, dear Jack Skellington - " She put her hand to her chest and stared up at the ceiling. "May he rest in pieces - " Her hand fell, and she continued as normal. " - knows much of Christmas Town already! In the human world, Christmas is a true celebration of joy. The leader of Christmas Town, Sandy Claws, happens to travel the entire human world in one day just to give them all presents that they ask for. How does he do it? Why, magic of course! How else does anyone do anything, really!"
She pushed the basket filled with candy canes forward. "We have our own celebration, on the day of Christmas, as you all know. And Sandy Claws' magic has allowed us to have that one day of snow as an eternal present to us all - to be able to celebrate just as the humans do. Truly not as awful as some people would like to say, that Sandy Claws!" Quieter, she murmured something about not having ever met the man herself but -
"Green and red are the standard colors for those who live in Christmas Town, which include Sandy Claws himself, his wife, and a veritably unending horde of little gnomes known as 'elves'! They are very hard workers, spending an entire year creating the gifts that Sandy Claws hands out on that one, remarkable day."

With his head in his hand, Uru watched the front of the class with idle boredom. The chatter increased and decreased, the lull of discussion apparently prompted the professor to stand (was she standing?) from her spot, clapping to get their attention. Successfully so. Raising his head, sitting upright, his arms across his chest, he focused. Prompted, he retrieved a small notepad from inside his jacket and flipped to a blank page. As she drew her symbols and what not, he did the same himself, devoting a page specifically to each of the seven holidays; Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's, Easter, Independence, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
As Professor Selene spoke about a holiday, he turned to the appropriate page and jotted notes; just specifics that seemed to be relevant. At the bottom of every page, he noted to go to the library and double check these 'facts'. The lecture was brief but relatively informative. Putting his things back away inside his clothing, he put his head back into his head and looked at the toothy rabbit in front of him. What were they suppose to do with this thing?...

A curious glance was turned on her boilfriend as he sank down in his chair, green eyes fixed upon their teacher. It was very odd behavior, and dark brows pinched as an amused, questioning smile flitted across exotic features. She'd have asked, but it would have been rude to speak while Selene gave her lecture. So it could wait.
Sin's wave had not gone unnoticed, and she offered a fond smile to the other demoness, waving a hand to both her and the imp she was keeping company with. She'd have to great the other ghoul properly later.
In the mean time the djinn settled into her seat with hands folded over her desk. Attention rapt upon the professor as she spoke. Many of the holiday's were new to Hadiyya, she had heard of them, but knew little about them. It was interesting hearing about those worlds in greater detail.
Only when the last was brought up did the ghoul sink back, expression shutting down into something less benignly pleasant. There were mixed feelings when it came to Christmas town. Not entirely bad, but not exactly good, either. Her brief visit to the land of Joy had been unique, to say the least. Very cold. And for a creature that thrived on warmth, that wasn't good.
When the lecture concluded she pulled her hands off the desk to fold them into her lap, turning again to glance at the fae beside her. "Everything alright?"
---------------------
Slouched down, hands folded behind his head, Seiji was the picture of ease as Selene began her lecture. She was a meek thing, soft spoken, and the ghost could hardly hear her until she'd turned back to face the class at large. A flick of glowing eyes took in the hand print, dark lips twitching upward in a quick smirk, before he settled in to listen.
He didn't take notes, but he'd always had a good memory, and this was actually something he was interested in learning. In fact, the longer she spoke, the straighter the boil sat, until he was leaning forward with his arms folded over he desk.
He'd heard about Christmas Town, from quite a few of his friends, he had a vague knowledge of the Joy drenched world, but the others were all knew to him.
When she had finished the boil glanced at the baskets the professor had been nudging forward, and when he got to the one in the middle with the pop rocks he hoisted a hand into the air to get Selene's attention. "What are the denizens of Independence day? Are they also gnomes of some sort?"
------------------------------
Jory had thankfully thought ahead enough to have brought along a notebook, and he wrote furiously as their teacher went through her lecture. There was a page for each holiday, and a serious of notes written out in quick short hand beneath each neatly printed header. At the beginning was a general over view of the class, as well their professor's name.
Social interaction was not a skill set the afanc had, but this he could do. He'd never attended a school before this, but he appeared to be on his way to the role of a good student.
When the ghost boil asked his question the monster paused in his writing, flipping back to a previous page, pen poised.
