[RAID] A Legendary Heist

"Is this a mission or middle school dodge ball." Kyle said with a sigh, mostly to himself, but not exactly hiding what he said.

He grinned at what Aulus said, looking down at his feet as he found great amusement in it. It was true. It was a pokemon world after all.
"This is a Legendary, not just a normal little easy pokemon." He said glancing at Riley. "Ask Lu, he learned the hard way."

Riley lifted her eyes to look over at Kyle, her expression unamused. She said nothing, however, and switched her gaze instead to the other Agents as they took her picks.

"This is a mission, so if you can control your inner sassy It Girl for long enough for experienced Agents to decide on who they want to take with them that would be fantastic," Aulus replied to Kyle with serpent swiftness. "We all know it's a Legendary, because we were listening to Elite Claire."

"Y-yes ma'am!" Lu said as soon as Tambrey asked him, face flushing slightly in how eager he'd sounded. Rubbing his cheek, Lu moved over to stand closer to Tambrey, keeping his hands in his pockets and biting his lip. He did feel relieved going with Tambrey, at least.

Lu looked over at Kyle's remark, then nodded solemnly. "They don't really like being talked to, I think..." He said, hoping Riley wouldn't have the same idea of 'lets be polite and say hello to the legendary, that'll go well' that he'd had.

Zacharie...actually agreed with Kyle. He hadn't felt this excluded from a group since high school....and that was one of the main reasons he left. Sighing softly under his breath, the teen rocked back on the heels of his trainers as he clasped his hands behind his back as he waited to get chosen. You would think someone with medical knowledge would be useful...but whatever.

Aulus' reply to Kyle was unexpected, and made her feel slightly better. She grinned, just the slightest bit, and peeked over at Kyle from the corner of her eye. At least it wasn't just her...

When Lu spoke up, she looked toward him and nodded a little in understanding. She'd keep that in mind...

Kyle held his hands up when Aulus called him out, in a clear sign that he was backing off.
He wasn't sure where the last comment was, Kyle wasn't so much making a comment on what the mission was, as he was making a stab at the shy girl and Lu. But okay.
"I'll do my job." He said finally and lowered his hands.

Rory noted who Tambrey and Aulus chose and scanned over who all was still standing there waiting. His eyes lingered on the teenager amongst them, watching as he rocked back on his heels.

"You" he pointed at Zacharie, "you want to come with me?"

Tam smiled at Lu.
'Ma'am'? That was probably the correct term of address for higher ranks or something anyway, but still. It did sound weird.
"It's not so much for the sake of it. Just. As agents we have certain skills and lack certain skills. If we must work in small teams, we need a broad area covered." She tried to throw in her 'two cents', to them all, a little less angrily, then Aulus. She kept the smile on her face.

For a moment, Zacharie wasn't sure if the man was talking to him or not. He glanced around quickly before deciding that yes, the man was indeedbtalking to him. "I'll go with you." He shrugged lightly as he meandered over to Rory, secretly pleased that he'd finally been picked.

He'd do his best to make sure that no one regretted him being on their team.

Aulus nodded shortly to Kyle; "See that you do." Seen Claire had given Tam and himself some authority, and seen as he didn't need any extra muscle himself and the other Agents didn't seem in a rush to claim two grunts; "And Nakura, you can come with me too.

"Too many cooks, etc etc," he added to everyone, following on from what Tam had said. "Having a team made up of only combat specialists is as stupid as having a team of pokemon with an enormous weakness to one given type and no way to compensate for it. Now, if we're done with this issue we can move on."

Xander gave Kyle a grin once everyone had been picked. "Guess this means you're with me." He said.

It was about time Kyle thought, some kind of weird initiation, and pecking order amongst the Agents.
He nodded to Xander though who he ended up being partnered with and walked over to the Agent.

Though choosing groups had taken a while, it had at least been done intelligently, with each agent trying to pair themselves with someone - or someones - of different talents and skill sets.

It was already afternoon by the time the Rocket vessel docked in port. As they disembarked onto the empty pier - likely everyone was already gathered up ahead - each member of the mission team would be provided with a brochure that offered a map of the area as well as details about the program: It would begin in a few hours in the courtyard of the nearby Paladin Institute of Ecology, and in the meantime visitors were invited to peruse the display boards set up in the building's lobby to learn about the history of the Decolore region's environment and pokemon population.

The courtyard itself, visible from the docks even without the series of signs pointing the way to the Institute of Ecology, was already beginning to come alive with activity. The courtyard was well-maintained, the gardens and trees constituting its landscaping full and healthy and the grass a vibrant green. In the center of the paved area was a fountain bubbling clear water, its shape mimicking a graceful Articuno - a stark contrast to the aggressive visage that Kyle and Lu had seen.

Civilians, presumably visitors waiting for the event to begin, meandered through the area, some taking up seats on the benches placed around the courtyard. A few Rangers moved in and out of the building, apparently setting up for the event that was due to take place before too long. Most noteworthy was the redheaded woman seated in the grass and speaking with a number of children who had gathered around her - those familiar with the Unova League would easily recognize her as Skyla, the leader of Unova's Mistralton Gym.

[From here on, it's in your hands. Interact with the environment and NPCs as desired to perform reconnaissance and gather information - staff will respond to your actions as needed. The educational program will begin in the courtyard when your characters have decided how they want to proceed.

For your reference, to follow is a map of the mission area and a list of NPCs with whom your characters may speak. Please clearly mark in bold at the top of your post which NPC your character is addressing when they interact with them.

• Skyla: Sitting in a grassy area to the side of the courtyard. Enthusiastically talking to Children about bird pokemon. Six pokeballs on her hip.
  
• Children: Three young children gathered around Skyla and listening excitedly. No pokeballs.
  
  
• Ranger A (f): A brunette Ranger marking the perimeter of the program area with colored flags. Three pokeballs on her hip.
  
• Ranger B (m): A blonde Ranger going back and forth from speaking to Ranger A to overseeing the display in the lobby. Two pokeballs on his hip.
  
• Ranger C (m): A blue-haired Ranger patrolling the perimeter of the courtyard. Three pokeballs on his hip.
  
  
• Civilian A (f): A black-haired woman standing near the building with Civilian B. No pokeballs visible, but some may be concealed.
  
• Civilian B (m): A white-haired man standing near the building with Civilian A. Two pokeballs on a thigh strap.
  
  
• Civilian C (m): A man with a shaved head sitting on a bench and fiddling with his phone. No pokeballs visible, but some may be concealed.
