Maggie WongLeo had his arms folded over his chest, almost nodding in approval at Tryks' act. He knew he had to keep a firm hold over the freaks, before any of them would start to rebel and cause him to lose any sort of business. He sauntered out onto the stage, introducing the next act, " Next, we have one of the finest mythical creatures you can only find here. That's right, ladies and gentleman. A real wolfman will be brought before you!" Leo announced. Matt gulped loudly, his knees quaking nervously as he walked out onto the stage on all fours. Maggie had her back against the bars, letting out a heavy sigh as she leaned her head back gently against the wood. She laid the blanket and the needle down in her lap for a moment, until she heard Benjamin's voice. She looked up over her shoulder at him, cracking a small smile at him, " I think if you burnt up the cage, I'll still get in trouble," Maggie answered honestly, before looking back down to the worn blanket that lay in her lap, " Besides, I wouldn't let any of the others get hurt. They're all so young.. It's my job to look after them. They don't deserve to go through this pain. I'll always try to take the punishment for them, if it means they won't get hurt." The young girl closed her eyes, letting out a sigh. Even though she knew it was wrong, she still didn't mind breaking the rules every now and then. Maggie pushed her energy out to pull the broom and dustpan away from Benjamin, beginning to sweep around the cage for him, " You deserve a break. Why not go get a drink or something?" Maggie told him, opening her eyes again.

Benjamin "Benny" Tobermori
Benny rolled his eyes at the fact that she would still get in trouble if he burned the cage. "Burning it was not what I had in mind, but okay." He laughed. She went on to say that she would rather take the punishment of the other freaks and it both warmed and tore at Benny to hear her speak. She sounded like he imagined a mother would sound.
When the broom and dustpan were pulled out of his hand, he jumped, startled. Then he remembered her ability and smiled. "No, it's fine. I don't mind sweeping." He reached for the broom. "Besides, you'll only get into more trouble using you're ability outside of the freak show." He recalled being told that . He took hold of his cleaning utensils once more and took the hint, "I'll see you around. Should probably start cleaning up around the food stalls anyway." He went off in his search for garbage.

Maggie WongMaggie was silent for a moment before she turned a bit, looking at Benjamin's back, " Wait!" she called out, staring after him. It was obvious he was told of the rules by one of the other freaks if he knew some of them. Still, Maggie was wondering why he didn't seem to care for the rules. It was as if Benjamin was willing to break them, just to even talk to Maggie. " I have to know.. what made you joined the circus, anyways?" Another thing that Maggie was curious about. Why in the world did Benjamin join their cursed circus? Was it because he felt sorry for everyone, and hoped to lift up their spirits? Was he looking for a job that he could feel proud of? Maggie was unsure, but she needed to know. She sat up on her knees, turning around fully towards him, grasping the bars gently, " This place is so sad, and.. even full of secrets. Why would you want to be here?"

Benjamin "Benny" Tobermori
Benny turned at the sound of Maggie's voice, looking at her slightly concerned. She asked him why he joined the circus and he was silent for a moment. In all honesty, he still was unsure about it himself. "A number of things." He answered truthfully. "I've been stuck in this depressing town my whole life... alone. Always seeing the same things, doing the same things, and just feeling trapped." He looked at the ground, "And like I told Leo, it's not like I have any friends or family. There was really no reason for me to stay. This circus presented an opportunity and I took it."
He looked back at the freak show tent, making sure Leo was not watching. "Besides, how can this circus be any more sad than the life I've had to live here in this town?" He smiled softly, "And secrets make it more interesting." With that, he turned and went to do his job before anyone could get into more trouble.

Maggie WongMaggie opened her mouth to say something, but quickly shut it. She watched as Benjamin walked off, her eyes softening as she watched his back. She couldn't understand why he would say something like that. A stable life was a life better than what was lurking beyond the tent. Maggie only wished he could see her point of view. As a freak, she'd never be able to live a stable, happy, normal life. None of them would, and it only made her question why Benjamin would want change such normality. ~~~ Later that evening, the circus came to a close, and it was dinner for everyone. Maggie had given the patched blankets to Leo, though he still refused to let her out of the cage. He even refused to give her any dinner. It was a cruel sight for her to watch. She was barely able to see her friends inside of warm tent, eating a warm meal, though she was still banned to the cage. Maggie wondered how long would she have to be caged like an animal? She hugged her knees closely to her chest, resting her chin on her knees as she let out a soft sigh. Matt looked around the table at his friends, frowning when he noticed Maggie wasn't with them, " How long does Maggie have to stay in there?" he asked curiously. His gaze lowered to the bowl of stew he had on the table, " I feel sorry for her... I wish we could take her something to eat.. The weather's getting colder, and she could get sick.." Louise smiled at Matt, patting his arm with her small hand, " There's nothing to worry about, right? I'm certain Rocco and Tryks will think of something. Right?" she asked, looking up at the strong man and the red-haired girl.

Anne Marie "Tryks" McMillan
Tryks could barely keep her eyes open as she sat at the table in the mess tent, head in one hand and the other holding onto a spoon that merely rested on her tray. When she heard her name she lifted her head and blinked a few times, realizing what had been said. "Yeah, I'll figure something out." She said and she put her spoon down. She looked over at Rocco, wondering if there was anything he could do to help, but at the moment, Tryks thought it best to talk to Leo.
She pushed herself up from the table, asking, "Matt? Could you take the roll and hide it for Maggie later? If I can get her out, I know she'll be hungry." She left the tent and went straight to Leo's. Ratt stopped her just out side, shoving her. "Think you're clever? Don't worry, I know that trick with the horses was you, and once I find a way to prove it, Master's gonna whip you good. Better than last time, do you remember?" Tryks glared at Ratt, remembering the scars on her back. "Maybe this time he'll let me give them to you." The boy laughed and walked away, leaving Tryks shuddering in front of the master's tent.
Once she had gotten her courage back she entered, "Sir? That cage idea was a genius one sir. I'm know Maggie will think twice about messing up your show. Do you think it's time to let her out, that way she will be able to preform again and bring you more money. If she stays in the cage, it might damage her, and then what use would she be? Best not to taint the goods, right sir?" She went on a little more. "As you already know, her powers use energy right? I could save some gruel for her in the kitchens so she won't be too weak to work tomorrow. If you want, I'll go tell the cook right now." She backed up, waiting for his answer.

Maggie WongMatt looked down at the roll that was handed to him, before looking over towards Tryks, " W-Wait! I'm not good at hiding things! I'll be found out!" he called out worriedly. Tears began to well up in his emerald-colored eyes as Louise took the roll from Matt, smiling more. She held it with both hands, " I'll hide it for her! Since I'm small, no one would think to check twice about checking me. I'll give it to her tonight," she declared proudly. Leo was slurping up the stew the kitchen staff had cooked when Tryks had entered his tent. He gripped his spoon tightly and shot a glare towards the young girl, " Don't you ever stop yapping about that little witch?! She'll get out when I say she gets out! She'll eat when I say she eats! Is that understood?!" he shouted at her, slamming the bowl down onto the vanity that was beside him. Leo let out a heavy sigh, " I swear, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you all were trying your best to ruin me! I do have a job for you to do. Go grab one of the blankets that witch has mended and give it to her, and have her give you her dress to wash. It's filthy! Unfit for a performance! She'll eat breakfast tomorrow, and be released tomorrow. Until then, she stays in there!"

Tryks jumped when Leo snapped at her, flinching as he whirled to glare at her. Her persuasiveness could only go so far, and it seemed she had reached his limit. "Y-yes sir, you know best sir." She exited the tent, panting with fear, then with a final glare at the tent, she hurried her tired little body back to the cage. "Sorry Maggie, looks like you're spending the night here. Master said you can keep the blanket, and he'll let you out in the morning." Glancing around, she made sure Ratt was nowhere in sight, "I'll find a tarp to put over the cage so it stays warm in there for you." She ran off to ask Rocco where the tarps were.
Rocco was just leaving the mess tent when Tryks ran into him. "Hey Rocco, where are the tarps? I wanna cover Maggie for the night so she won't get cold. " Rocco nodded and led the way to the storage cart where they were. "I will cover Miss Maggie. You go to sleep little one. You do a lot this day." Rocco told Tryks in his gentle yet deep voice. Tryks smiled but shook her head. "I still hafta say good night to Maggie too." She replied and followed the large man back to the cage.
With a sweep of his large arm, the tarp was thrown over the cage, adequately covering Maggie from both the cold wind and any rain that might chance to fall. Tryks poked her head under the tarp, "It should stay pretty warm in here for you with this on. Heck, might even be warmer than the tents considering it's a smaller place to heat. I hope you can at least sleep. Good night Maggie."
Rocco's voice sounded from outside the tarp, "Good night Miss Maggie."

Maggie WongMaggie noticed Tryks running around in front of the cage once more, handing a blanket off to her. She smiled at the ten-year-old girl, letting out a small sigh of relief. She was thankful the little girl cared so much for her, but she wished she worried less so she wouldn't try to get into any sort of trouble. When Maggie returned, she was being carried by Rocco. It was a good sight to see. Tryks must've worked hard that day, and Maggie knew, other than her, Rocco would see how tired Tryks was. " Thank you, both, for what you've done for me. I promise, I'll never forget this," Maggie reassured them as she wrapped the blanket around herself, " Have a good night, and try to get some sleep, okay? I promise, I'll be fine." Maggie looked around her newly sheltered cage. It felt warm, but a bit.. lonely. She let out a small sigh as she laid down on the dirt, trying to get comfortable as she closed her eyes. Her stomach growled a bit. Two days from not eating dinner. It was taking a toll on her.

The next morning, Tryks woke up and made a bee line for the cage to uncover it, only to find Rocco there already. He pulled the tarp off and greeted Maggie warmly. Seeing the large man would make sure she got out, Tryks ran to the mess tent to procure herself and Maggie a hefty tray of food. She got in line behind the other circus staff, hoping the non-freaks wouldn't bully her and puch her out of line today. She did a sweep of the tent with her eyes to make sure Ratt wasn't there yet. He was the one who usually instigated the bully attacks.
She got up to the food and took two trays, loading one up with as much nutritious and filling food she could, but when she went to put food onto her other tray, the one foe herself, she was smacked with a spoon. "Hey, you know it's one tray per person. I don't care how hungry you are. I need to make sure everyone gets fed." The head cook, Gem, scolded. Tryks tried to explain, but the person behind her pushed her on. Tryks nearly spilled the food, but managed to recover, deciding not to argue.
Once the tray was filled, she sat and waited for Maggie to come in, saving the spot next to her for her friend.

Maggie WongMaggie awoke to the sound of the tarp being pulled off of the cage, being greeted by the sun shining in her on her. She sat up quickly, trying her best to wake up quickly. She could only assume Leo was the only ripping the tarp off of her safe haven. As she opened her eyes, she saw Rocco standing in front of her, with the tarp in his large hands. She let out a heavy sigh of relief, " Gosh... Rocco, you startled me," Maggie told him, smiling politely as she pushed herself to her feet. She walked over towards him, grabbing a hold of the bars gently, staring up at the large man, " Am I able to get out today?" she asked in a hopeful voice, " I would only hope so, so I can get something to eat, and maybe clean up before the circus starts later this evening." Maggie felt thankful that Rocco was there to help her out, instead of being greeted by Leo. She couldn't even imagine what would happen if Leo had stopped by.

Rocco smiled when he heard he had frightened Maggie, "Sorry Miss Maggie." He said, then folded up the tarp. "Yes, I tink you can get out today, Mastah say you get breakfast." He bent to undo the latch on the cage door and held it open for her, "Tryks tell me she savin' you some food. You go get some now, I know you be hungry." He told her with a wide smile.
In the mess, Tryks still guarded the food and her friends seat, waiting. She looked out the tent flap, wondering when Maggie was going to be let out.
Across the Circus grounds, Benny woke up in a strange, unfamiliar place, and for a moment, he fought to remember why. Instead of waking up in he stiff bed, looking up at his cracked ceiling, h was on a straw mattress looking up at two-toned canvas. Oh, yeah! He had joined the circus. Looking around him, he saw that the other staff cots were empty and he figured her was late for breakfast. He hopped out of bed and put his clothes on in a hurry, then ran to the mess tent to grab himself a tray of food. The line was long, but that was what he got for sleeping in.

Maggie Wong" That must mean I get to perform tonight, huh?" Maggie asked, walking out of the cage as Rocco held the door open for her. She hugged one of his large arms, smiling at him, " Thank you, Rocco. You should get yourself something to eat, if you haven't already. You don't need to be starving yourself." Maggie released his arm before running off towards the mess tent. Food after a couple of nights of not eating sounded like salvation to the bright-haired girl. As she walked in, she spotted the red-haired girl with a large tray, and a seat being saved for her. Maggie let out a sigh of relief as she walked over towards Tryks, gently patting her head, " Always working hard, I see." Maggie took the seat beside Tryks, smiling at her, " You did so much for me, Tryks. Thank you. Rocco told me you had food ready and a seat saved. How did you manage to get so much food from Gem?" she questioned. She only hoped Tryks didn't steal the food, but whatever had gotten them by would be the best solution as long as Ratt and Leo didn't find out. Maggie didn't see Benjamin as he ran into the mess tent. She looked down at her dirtied dress, letting out a sigh, " I'll need to wash this today. I think Master wants me to perform tonight."

Tryks smiled at Maggie when the older girl patted her head, "I have my ways." Was all she answered. She was glad that Maggie was no longer in that cage, and when she mentioned having to wash her clothes, Tryks looked at them and made a face at the food scum stuck onto her dress.
Benny wanted to go and eat with Maggie and Tryks, but he remembered that he wasn't allowed, more like they weren't allowed, to speak to each other. He got his food and found a spot with some other staff members, but ate in silence. At least Maggie wasn't in that cage anymore.
MultiAsh Sorry it's short. Not really sure where to go from here. I think we need to brainstorm again.

Maggie WongAs the week progressed, less and less patrons were attending the freak show. Leo was furious, to say the least. The freak show was his main way of obtaining money for the circus, and to get people interested. With a few more weeks before closing down before the winter, and hardly anyone showing up, Leo knew he had a lot on his plate. He wouldn't have enough to feed his staff or himself if things kept up like they were. He stormed down the circus grounds, looking around for any and all freaks, " All of you damned freaks need to head to the performance tent right now!" Leo shouted as he stormed the grounds, " If you don't, I will whip you in front of an audience!" He needed to have a little chat with his freaks about their acts, and what they were doing wrong. Maggie held Louise in her arms, looking over towards Leo. She gulped a bit as she saw the anger burning in his eyes, " He's really angry today.." she mused as she walked over towards the freak show tent. Louise nodded, hugging Maggie's neck gently, " When he's angry like that, it's always so scary. I wonder if something's happened." Maggie walked into the tent and took a seat in one of the chairs near the front, setting Louise down on her lap so the small girl would be able to see. All sorts of possibilities ran through the pink-haired girl's mind. Were they preparing to move again? Did this town have an issue with the freaks? With these sorts of questions running through her mind, Maggie only began to worry as she leaned back in her seat.
