Amelia Cross “Just call me the mad whacker. You know I am pretty sure there is a saying about bringing a knife to a gun fight, and I don't even get a knife, but I suppose I can't argue with you.” She said taking the baton from him. It was better than nothing. That left her with being largely reliant on the others in the group to keep her alive which wasn't exactly comforting. Amelia wasn't sure how much Adrian shared with the others, but she had lost them their leader, appeared to be crazy and on her word alone Adrian was sending them on what could very well be a suicide mission. Breaking into the Tower was no easy task even with an EMP and she wasn't sure any of them would exactly stick their necks out for her. The idea of playing tough girl briefly crossed her mind, but considering what they were about to do being honest was probably a better option. “A little sore, but as long as someone doesn't decide to punch me in them or you expect me to do a pull up I should be fine.”

"Don't worry, we've got plenty of guns and-" Adrian was cut off when Greg jogged back over to him with the machete in a sheath. Adrian thanked Greg and turned back to Amelia "I've also got a big knife." He smiled and strapped the machete onto his belt in place of the baton. It probably was an upgrade as far as lethality was concerned. When Amelia explained the situation with her ribs Adrian briefly considered tapping her side, mostly as a joke but also to see if it was worse than she was letting on. He chose not to though and instead motioned toward one of the tanks implying he wanted to speak privately with her. Then he began to walk towards said tank and away from the group.

Amelia Cross “Somehow I don’t find that very comforting.” She said with a snort. If given the option, she decided she would try to stick with Adrian. It seemed like he would at least try to keep her alive, though she had no delusions of how far he would go to do so. The mission came first and once she got them to the basement levels she would have expended her usefulness. A usefulness that was tenuous at best in their eyes since none of them quite believed her that there was anything down there to see. She raised an eyebrow as he motioned for her to follow him over to one of the tanks, but silently did so wondering what he wanted to talk about seeing as he had casual brought her hallucination and the fact that she was a liability to the mission in front of the others.

When Adrian reached the tank he turned and leaned on it. what he had to say wasn't entirely friendly nor was it going to be fun. "Amelia, I want you to look at those seven men and three women over there. They volunteered to be part of this infiltration unit because they trusted my order enough. I gave the order because of you. Look at their faces and remember them. They are willing to die based on your superstitious feelings." Adrian paused and looked up towards the top of the hangar. "Do not make me regret giving the order."

Amelia Cross She watched the group in silence for several seconds while she decided how to respond. “I am crazy, not stupid. I am all too aware of what is being risked here. Perhaps even more so, given my previous experience.” Amelia took a deep breath while she crossed her arms. “I am the least likely to make it back alive. Perhaps they volunteered, but I doubt they will risk themselves to keep me alive. I'll be Sybils biggest target, unless it has figured out who you are, and I am the most expendable to your mission. I know what you think of me, but know I am willing to die or to be recaptured to show you this. Though I would honestly rather die.”

"Amelia, I don't think you get it. They are doing this because of you." Adrian paused and turned his head to look at her. "They know why I gave the order and they still chose to follow it. They will not leave you behind and it will get them killed. You will get them killed before they get you killed." When Adrian fell silent again his eyes drifted to the ground. He wanted it to work, he wanted this plan to work but he was afraid. Up until two days ago victory was certain, they were going to destroy the machines but then they saved her. His father sacrificed himself to save Amelia. She had to have had valuable information. All she had done though was plant the seeds of doubt. she had lead them all to feel that something would go wrong and that alone would be what destroyed them. "Sybil has had my father for five days now, it knows who I am. That's fine, it will know who is going to destroy it."

Amelia Cross “I understand perfectly, I just disagree with your reasoning.” She paused for a second, deciding how to continue before carrying on. “It doesn’t matter. Either way I am ultimately responsible.” She disagreed with that to, but if he wanted to blame her so be it. If he would just listen to her they wouldn’t be doing this in the first place, they would be coming up with a new way to take down Sybil. He hadn’t even asked what she had found in the first place and given the level of credibility he was giving her she hadn’t explained. Arguing with him wasn’t going to get her anywhere. “You really think so? Well I hope you burn Sybil to the ground for everything it has done.” Maybe it would be better they didn’t find his father at this point. “One of the first things it did when I was taken was murder my family. I’m sure everyone here has similar stories and I don’t want your pity. I just thought you should know I want Sybil gone as much as anyone. If nothing else you can believe that much.”

"Not entirely responsible. You're responsible for putting them into the building. Once we're inside what happens will be on me. You're the motivation, but I gave the order." There was a brief pause as what could only be described as regret filled Adrian's voice. "I am the one giving the order." When Amelia spoke about her family Adrian paused. He turned to look at her for a moment. The reason the last part of his family was gone, and gave a slight nod. "We're all family in the end. That was something my father used to tell me when he would bring spies back for safety. When the final moment comes, we are either family, or enemies. Remember that."

Amelia Cross “Well, you are only giving the order because of me.” She sighed, running a hand threw her hair. “Look, I might disagree with you, but I can appreciate the position I have put you in. If I am wrong you are only risking the lives of the twelve of us. If I am right…well I guess we will see. If that means anything coming from the likes of me.” Still she wished he would just listen to her, but couldn’t exactly blame him for not. She met his eyes. “I appreciate it and I really am sorry about your father. I suppose at least I know definitively what happened to mine. Now how about we go kick some robot a**?”

Adrian said nothing in response. He simply pulled his eyes from her's and shouted to the men and women standing in the scouting party. "File into the van we're rolling out in five!" He turned his head to Amelia. "Sit in the front with me." And just like that, he was gone. Adrian had moved into the driver seat of the nearby van and the rest of the scouting party had moved in line to fill up the back. .Adrian hated sympathy. He was not the first person to lose family to this cruel machine and he probably wouldn't be the last. He didn't want to talk about it, even though he needed to.

Amelia Cross “Good talk.” She mumbled to herself as he walked off. Great, time to go probably die. Going back into the city, much less the going to the Tower it's self wasn't a prospect she was looking forward to. With a shake of her head Amelia followed him to the van and climbed in the front passenger seat. “Shouldn't your second in command sit in front? Go over the strategy for getting inside or something?” Why the hell would he want someone he didn't even trust with a gun to sit with him? Or was there some kind of strategy to put the useless person in the front.

"Me becoming director happened too recently and with the attack so close, there hasn't been time to appoint a second-in-command." He explained as he put the key into the ignition. A few seconds passed before there was a banging noise on the back of the truck and Adrian shifted into drive. As he did, a section of the wall directly in front of them began to lower. Not a lot of the wall but enough to fit the truck and the tanks. It was the secondary exit and entrance. Adrian drove forward through the opening and into a large tunnel. Clearly moving upwards and clearly man-made. "We assumed that once Sybil was down we wouldn't need the resistance anymore so we wouldn't really need to set up a second-in-command."

Amelia Cross Of course. Everything just kept coming back to her getting his father captured. Was there anything she could say that wouldn’t enviably lead back to that? “You know, these people haven’t a single decision for themselves their entire lives. Maybe the resistance won’t be needed, but someone will have to lead them. Teach them how to think again.” Amelia looked out the window at the large tunnel they were traveling down. How did they manage to build all of this without Sybil seeing? Where did one even get started to build this kind of resistance? The only communication she had with the former director had been brief messages, requests for information and her passing along what she could discover. She could only imagine the kind of man it took to put all of this together. “Besides who will lead if I get you killed?”

"That would be no different than being Sybil. There will be chaos, and for the first few days the resistance will work to prevent causalities, but everyone will be making their own choices in the chaos. It will be a steep learning curve, but they will learn." The tunnel seemed to go directly forward until Adrian made a hard right turn and continued. It was winding upwards towards sea level but they hadn't had enough space during construction to just go forward so the had given it a few turns. "The resistance is greater than one man. If I die, they will find another leader."

Amelia Cross “Only if you did the same things Sybil does.” Amelia gave a shrug. Every society throughout history had a leader or leaders of some kind. She had a feeling Adrian would be thrust into the role whether he wanted to or not. It was a problem for when they were actually successful though. “Do you really think there will chaos? It sounds odd, but I hope there is. I worry they will just stand there and starve without someone to tell them to eat. At least chaos will show a spark of life.” Things were bad in the city. Despite medical advancements life expediencies had been falling dramatically. People simply had no reason live, they just blindly followed the computers orders. She looked to Adrian. “When was the last time you lived in the city?”
