Yumiru fell silently in line between Taiki and Usein as the trio made their way after the black ichor that almost seemed to make the snow hiss. That seemed to be the only reason it hadn't yet been covered by snow.
The path of blood went on for quite some time, heading up the mountain in a generally straight line until in the distance what looked like a cave emerged from the trees. Outside of the cave stood two suits of armor? Both were stationary--almost too still, as if they stood on display racks, but given the small whimper from Yumiru that didn't seem to be the case. She quickly took cover behind some brush not far to the side and gestured for the other two to follow. "Animated Armor," she breathed. "They're not particularly strong, but annoying to defeat because they don't feel pain or bleed. If there's two of them, something stronger is probably waiting inside."

My brows furrowed at the sight of the suits of armor. Strange, I thought, that armor would be placed in decoration here. That thought however was dispelled quickly by Yumiru’s observation. Animated armor, who would have thought? Certainly not me, that’s for sure. I hadn’t seen something like that before, but somehow I wasn’t surprised at the fact that this was a thing that existed in this new reality. “If they don’t bleed or feel pain, how do we get rid of them? A seal? By completely destroying them?” I whispered even though the armors had no ears, one could never be too careful. I lowered my blade slightly and faced the girl and shot a look at Usein. “I’ve never seen these things before, so some insight will be greatly appreciated.” I added with a concerned look. How do you kill something that doesn’t bleed and feels no pain, has no head and has no heart? The idea of how to do so eluded me, so I deferred to those who might know more than me in this case.

I saw electricity lance through the wolf's fur, meaning my lightning struck home. That alerted the creature to my following attack, and it dodged out of the way. However, instead of coming after me again, it sprinted past me, aiming straight for Fiorzia. No! But no sooner had I turned that the sylph revealed her own strength that I often forgot about. As the wolf 'struck' her, a massive blast of wind and electricity erupted between them. Due to the placement of both elements on the chakra wheel, the wind overpowered the lightning, and blast was driven back toward the yokai, as was the creature likely thrown off of its feet--if it even managed to survive.
Thankfully, I was just out of range of the backlash, but my skin was still left crawling from the energy in the air. I shook myself to regain my focus, and charged forward, not willing to give the thing a chance to recover if it had survived. After about two steps, I pushed my speed to the limits, covering the distance almost instantly. Then, as I came within range of the wolf, holding my blade in both hands, I struck three times in quick succession. The first was a lunge straight out of the dash, thrusting the blade directly in front of me. The second and the third followed immediately after, as I shuffled forward and lunged twice more.
This time, though, I did not retreat once my attacks were finished, instead steeling myself against a blow from the wolf that was likely to follow. I shifted the foot I'd lunged with back behind the other, giving myself a wide, braced stance, and held my sword at a defensive, upward angle in front of me. And waited.
Now that the blast of elements had faded, I could see where Fiorzia had been a moment before. She had vanished. I felt a small panic, but given that my Oath hadn't shattered, she must have been safe. I knew she could make herself invisible, and that was likely what had happened in the wake of her attack.
[Summary: Fiorzia countered the lightning with a wind attack. Kaileer attacked in the opening following, dashing forward and performing three quick thrusts at the wolf before bracing himself against a counter attack.]

Taking up the rear, Usein would be the last to come across the two suits of armor. Luckily, he was paying close attention to Yumiru. Following behind her and Taiki into some brush, he would look at the armor then at the two. He had no ******** idea what any of this was. Animated armor? Was it similar to clone jutsu or something more It didn't help she was stating something more stronger was inside. Strapped with only his scythe, that was going to be fun. Taiki was strong right? He would get them through this. So with that, he was mentally preparing himself for the worse. Usien was prepared to be the defender of Yumiru and let Taki do the full work. Just thinking of the animated armor, his scythe could cut them but he had no ninjutsu to vaporize. Maybe he was thinking too much into it. He wouldn't even know if that could even work. Seeing Taiki seeking help, Usien shook his head. He had no answers. "I'm in the same boat as you are...what do we do?" he whispered, seeking to Yumiru. It seemed both of the muscle of the group were the ignorant ones for this situation.

Both of the boys' lack of knowledge on the situation was clearly concerning to Yumiru, but she wasn't mad about it. She pointed toward the suits of armor, and responded softly. "All yokai have someone on them that anchors them to our world. Typically that item stands out on them, and, for a good number of them, that anchor is a mask." She shifted her weight, switching which hand was set against the cold snow, before continuing. "Animated Armor are strong but slow, just like anyone would be while wearing heavy armor. So use its speed to get in close and remove its mask. Once the mask is removed, the fade inside will lose its hold in our world and have to find a different anchor before it can repossess any armor." Her gaze turned back to the two boys. "Of course, if you destroy or remove its arms, it can't use a weapon or cast jutsu either." She gestured forward. "Whenever you guys are ready."

The blowback from my own attack knocks me off guard and followed by each stab of the sword. my body is severely hurt, but I am still strong. If I must die, I will bring them both with me. The last of my strength I raised a massive claw and struck the earth beneath me. I shatter the ground beneath them.

After hearing the explanation from Yumira, I nodded. Sending a fire ball down range to the armors won’t really do that much to help the incoming fight, it will just wear me down. “Usien, lets take out their arms, I have a feeling that destroying the mask from the get go might prove to be tricker than we may think. If we disarm them we may have an easier time taking care of this whole thing. Yuu, when we go in, follow us and stay close. We may get focused on what is in front of us, so be sure to watch our back and let us know if something comes out of the cave. Should things get hairy, don’t wait for us, just go back to the village and get help.” I looked to Usien, wondering if he agreed with the plan. “If you have any better ideas, I’m open to hearing them. I’m not comfortable with the idea of leaving her behind, but I doubt that either of us is strong enough to face these things on our own, seeing as we have never really dealt with anything like them.”
Option 1 If Usien agreed with the plan, I would motion for him to stand by my side. We go in at the same time.” I muttered and then signaled for him to start running. I burst out, weapon at hand, going for the animated armor on the right. I leveled my sword, putting it straight with my arm, and then I dropped it, delivering an upward slash at the armor’s right arm, going for the armpit, trying to get it from the socket, I followed up with a second slash right over the armor’s left shoulder, coming down with all my power, but I did not expect it to be strong enough to slice through the armor, but instead I used it to slide the sword down to a position where I could hit the armor from a better place. Once my sword was under the arm, I would slash upward one more time, just as I had done with the right arm: right under the armpit, with all my strength, trying to get the arm off.
Option 2 If Usien did not agree with my plan, I would listen to what he had to say, and would act accordingly.

Maybe it was because the majority of my opponents in the past had been physical fighters primarily that I had assumed a wolf would also focus on physical combat that I'd set up the guard I had instead of readying myself to dodge out of the way like I should have done. But in all honesty, I'd been hoping the creature would use its claws or its fangs to attack me so I could get a good strike in and finish it off. Instead, it used another elemental manipulation and literally shattered the ground beneath me. The earth gave out, kicking up not just rocks but boulders of frozen dirt as I half fell. One of these chunks struck me in the abdomen, both breaking my guard and knocking the air from my lungs. The only reason it didn't hurt more, I think, was because of my Oath and protection it gave me.
However, just because I was caught off guard didn't mean I'd lost my chance for my readied counterattack. I used the flying boulders to my advantage, whirling a kick as hard as I could manage in midair, throwing one of the boulders back at the wolf before letting myself drop to the ground--which was several feet lower than it had been previously. Which meant I wasn't prepared for the impact. I hit the ground, dropping to my knees from the shock of it, but forced myself back to my feet an instant later so I wasn't attack while my guard was down.
The dust and snow were slowly settling, letting me see the full extent of the damage done. A massive crater was all that was left of the space where the small clearing had been a moment before. Fiorzia was still no where in sight, but my ward was still in place meaning she'd gotten away relatively safely. If the wolf had been aiming for both of us, with me behind it and Fiorzia previously in front of it, there was no way it wasn't caught in the blast as well. It was only because of that that I lifted by blade once more and slowly circled, waiting for it to show itself again.
I was also worried it would have the chance to run, which could threaten the town if it bore any allegiance with the other Yokai that ruled the area. But it was possible that it would just leave and never come back after getting the beating it had gotten, too.
I readied myself regardless, watching my surroundings carefully, electricity dancing on my skin.

When pain overwhelm you it stopped becoming pain. The cold of the snow and the crushing of rock didn't matter as my lung filled with blood. I couldn't move and the force of rock knock the air from my breath. Crushed under my own attack. I couldn't see them, so rather I took them with me or not. I will never know but in my final thoughts. I have taken at least one with me. At least one.

Taking the advice, he would look towards the Yumiru before looking over to his other comrade. What to do. They can disarm, but that meant he would have to hold his end of the deal as well. Loosening his grip on his scythe, he would listen to Taiki's words. Take out the arms and then work to get the mask afterwards. Guess fire wouldn't really work? He would nod. He trusted Taiki and he trusted Yumira. "Nope. Ready when you are" He stated while thinking which to go for. Same one or did they each get an armor? Maybe it was a mental mistake. Springing to action, while Taiki handled one, Usien went for the other. Using his strength, he spun his scythe an used the momentum of the spin in his slash to slice down onto the shoulder joints of the animated armor in order to try slice through and cut of the arm. After the downward slash, if connected and went as he planed, his scythe would be drugged into the ground and he would lift himself into the air, using the hilt to push himself up in order to kick the animated armor to try and knock it down.

With the kicked up dirt, any sight it really had from the light cast by the snow was gone, and I was left more or less in complete darkness, safe for the flickers of electricity coursing across my skin. I waited defensively for a long time, several minutes at least, listening intently for any sign of movement. But none ever came. Either the wolf had ran or it was dead. Finally, I dropped my guard, releasing my readied chakra, and exhaled heavily, both releasing my State and letting myself breathe. A few seconds later, the chains reappeared on my limbs before shattering, showing that my Oath was complete.
I was definitely sore. Not enough to be debilitating, but that was the first time in literally centuries I'd held a State for as long as I had. Not to mention my chest, arms, and neck were bruised and probably bleeding from that last attack. If I could get out of one fight without getting hurt in some way, it would have been a miracle.
From my pack I pulled a torch. Using a spark of my chakra to catch the oil coating it, I lit it on fire, blowing on it a bit until it was a solid light to see by. I was in a crater, maybe five meters in diameter in any direction from me. Much of the rock and dirt had been thrown into the forest surrounding, but plenty of boulders landed back in the crater. I was lucky not to have been crushed.
The wolf, on the other hand, was not so fortunate. I found the creature's body underneath a mound of rocks a moment later, its jaws stuck open and its previously glowing eyes faded. Without the shadows writhing in its fur it looked like a normal wolf--just really big. Too big for me to carry back to town on my own. I'd have to send a squad to retrieve the body so we could make use of any resources it might have to offer. The road would need to be fixed anyway, so I could send someone out in the morning. I didn't see any sort of anchor on it like the masks most of the other Yokai wore, so maybe its anchor was something it ate. I knelt down beside it and pried one of its teeth free, pocketing the fang as proof it was dead.
It took a bit of effort, but several minutes later found me climbing out of the pit and back onto the road. Panting as I fought to catch my breath from the climb, I glanced back down to where I knew the body was, and then around me to the forest surrounding. "Fiorzia," I called softly. "You can come out now."

Oh, they were just going to charge in. Watching nervously from behind, she made a quick series of hand seals. Once, and then a second time. Starting with Taiki, the young male would feel energy flow into him as his muscles seemed to harden, almost as if strength were unlocked from within. The same went for Usein after the second set of hand seals were complete. The techniques left Yumiru looking a bit exhausted, but for the moment she was hovering safely in the background, keeping an eye on the pair.

Because the attack came from the front, the animated armors could 'see' the pair coming. Both drew rather rusty looking katanas from scabbards at their sides. The one facing against Taiki held its blade defensively before it, deflecting the initial strike to the right shoulder, and then taking the second hit to the left shoulder before moving the blade to block the third strike. It staggered only slightly from the blows, pushed back maybe a foot or so. From there, its stance changed, tensing somehow, and it pushed forward in response, grinding along Taiki's blade to close the distance between them. This forward movement was ended with a thrust into the boy's abdomen.
The second set of armor was likewise ready as Usein approached. It countered the downward strike by swinging its blade upward, meeting the scythe before it struck the shoulder and throwing it to the side. This did put the animated armor slightly off balance and left it open to a kick in the chest, which staggered it but did not knock it over. It was too heavy for that. Instead, it found its balance once more and charged at Usein, lunging into a forward thrust that wasn't particularly fast but definitely held some power behind it.
The commotion caused something to stir inside the cave, though nothing showed itself yet.

A sudden burst of energy overcame me; I could feel Yumira’s chakra flowing through my body, empowering me and preparing me for the upcoming battle. When the armor began to slide its weapon down my sword, grinding away and near me. I retreated my sword and took steps back as the armor thrusted forward. I let my chakra wrap around my blade and I slashed at the incoming strike, knocking the sword off its course. From there, I stabbed the longsword onto the ground in front of me and made a single tiger sign. My hand shot for the katana at my hip and I pulled it, my chakra once again enveloping and possessing my weapon, making the temperature around it rise and embers flicking around it. “Lets put an end to this.” I growled as I pushed forward, taking two steps toward the animated armor and then brought my blade down with full force. The slash would begin at the armor’s shoulder, and if completed, would end where the armor’s hip would be. Whether it landed or not, I would move myself to the side in a quick jump back, allowing myself to get closer to Yumiru. “How’s everything going back there?” I asked her as I panted and a smile painted itself across my face. I was not the fighter that I once was. My body had grown weak, and I could feel my energy leaving my body with every movement, every slash and every technique. I considered using a fire ball just in case it was necessary, but… The toll it took on me was too great for me to throw them without any real use.

No dice. It protected itself and that was something he should of prepared himself for. The clang of the blades echoed in his ears and he knew he was in trouble. Was he prepared for this mission? Not exactly. Feeling his blade being moved away. The kicks landed but staggered and not tip it over. Seeing his failure, he immediately got into stance of the farmer and waited. The speed of the animated armor was insane. Well, it was faster than his E rank self. That was for sure. The stance he was in at least was going to increase his strength. He also started feeling he effects of his comrade buffing him. Still, unknowing to him, would not be enough. Taking his scythe, he would watch as the armor went for a thrust towards Usien. His scythe would strike against thr blade to clash wtih it. Even with the two boosts. A total of a rank and half boost to the strike, he still wasn't strong enough for it. How this would play out? "May need little help here!" Usien yelled. He was majorly out of practice. How long eas he in the crystal! And what happened to his skills!

Seeing that Usein was in trouble, Yumiru slapped her hands together in a hand seal. Beside him, a clone rose from the snow, forming out of the water and taking on Yumiru's appearance. The clone leaped at the suit of armor, latching onto it from the side and wrapping her arms around it. This pinned its arms to its sides briefly, providing an opening for Usein to attack or put some distance between them.
Taiki's blades were not quite enough yet to cleave through the armor, but some serious damage was dealt. The attack caught the joint of its right shoulder, knocking it and the sword it held free, both of which clattered to the ground. The attack ground into the chest plate of the armor several inches, but did not cleave all the way through to the hip. Still the yokai staggered, seeming somehow confused before it recovered itself and stomped after Taiki, trying to grappling him into a crushing embrace.
Behind the sets of armor, the shuffling in the cave turned into a whimpering cry.
