Home Box Office MAX So we're old now. We got jobs, families, responsibilities.
Ripped from the bosom of our upbringing into this planet we occupy... what are you up to these days? How's life?
I encourage folks to only share as much as they're comfortable, and please be mindful of that.
I wore a lot of hats since my time as an 04/05 (I forget the launch year) Gaian, which I joined through a friend who turned me on to the site in high school.
These days I work a lot with youtube in the background with content creators (not with Google/YouTube) with scripts, voice work (my voice is a**), ideas, etc as a passion project.
I also stream. And I won't be sharing any of those links, lol
I find this website fascinating in how it's retained an older audience who seems to largely coalesce with each other in a variety of ways. I know a lot of current GDers and many former ones, and they know me. Maybe not now, but it's cool to see people floating around or at times, running into them in the wild!
HBU? Hi all! Happy to be here, I joined back in 09 and have been off and on cruising the forums of the GD ever since. I have been on here so long i made my gamer tag after my account on here so it used to be madamewidow and some amalgamation of numbers. It is so incredible to me how much we have all changed and grown and all the things we have seen in the time since we all started out on here! I have really enjoyed reading everyone's introductions so far :3 this is the first guild I have joined ever! These days I am helping take care of my Grandma (she is an at home hospice late stage dementia/alzheimers patient) and i am volunteering with the watershed counsel in my area. I have worn so many hats through all these years from barista, to bakery clerk, to massage therapy student and most recently an animal shelter worker/Vet assistance (for the last nearly 4 years). My partner of 8 years is working as a auto-mechanic and is our source of income. Lots of my time is spent coping with my previous job. It feels very weird to be technically unemployed after being a professional in my field and having a desk and being the go to person for so many things, and due to the specificity of my job i feel like I have all these highly specified skills that dont/wont really apply to anything else. I am trying to write a book about what i have learned from working in that field but i have never written a book before and so there is also quite the learning curve there. I am happy though! Really I am enjoying the possibilities of what could come next for me. I have been entertaining the idea of trying to go to school to learn how to be a therapist with a focus in trauma and grief. Coping with suffering was a huge part of my job and helping my coworkers through said suffering was very fulfilling. I enjoy playing some video games binding of issac, portal, dead space, skyrim and guild wars 2 are my usual go tos, i used to be an avid league of legends player until the community there got too spicy for me to handle and i have been pretty wary of most games since then so i am very open to suggestions. (hence why all my games listed are old as hell xD) I am rambling though! I look forward to talking with you all and for all of us geriatric gaians to learn about eachother and build a community! heart

HBU? Hello! i have no idea when i first joined the website with my old now gone account but i must have only been around 11 years old (almost 31 now which i now realize is crazy how much time i spent here just to then lose touch with the site for so long) at first i joined when i was visitng my grandparents for a week and had nothing to do but play on their computers and i think i stumbled on an ad for gaia and checked it out. life has been wild, as it usually is for all, eventually my family moved by my grandparents, so the only people i knew were on this site for awhile. made friends in highschool. graduated (first in my family to actually do that even), immediately got my dream job, got married to my highschool crush/sweetheart. had 3 kids, had issues with family, helpde save a person from a horrible situation. the list goes on. but after seeing a video talking about gaias history in my youtube recommended i remembered all about this place and figured id create a new account to see how things are going and maybe get back into it smile

Hello everyone! I joined Gaia back in 2005 (just started high school) and was active in the CB, GCD, and occasional GD and Quest threads. This is my OG account (I'm so surprised that it's still active tbh!) and I probably have 5+ more "mule" accounts. Haha I'll see if I can remember their logins cos I know I kept some items there too. Also loved to play zOMG (farming the bosses like Papa Saw) but I never got to finish the game after many attempts. crying I wish the zOMG community is active again. For a flash player game, it was so intuitive, enjoyable, and the art was beautiful. I can remember all the all-nighters I did during the summer time playing that game. I stopped playing Gaia around 2015 or so and would occasionally come back to check on new items, lurk around forums, etc. Once the currency switched to Platinum is when I completely checked out. Since then, life has been alright. I now work in a hospital Pathology lab working as a lab assistant. I'm taking a course to become a Histology Tech, with the program completion in March of next year. Still live with my parents though, because the cost of living is just impossible. But hopefully someday I get to move out. Glad to be here and I look forward to meeting all of you~

I went from drawing game chatrooms, to a horse sim forum, to Habbo Hotel, to Gaia. Sometime in the mid-2000s, I guess. Mostly a GD/CBer, dabbled in ED when it didn't piss me off, but my passion was avatar building. I don't remember why I stopped coming here.
So much has happened between then and now that I'm not even the same person, but I'm sick of social media and everything else. I deleted my accounts everywhere. Tumblr doesn't count. Unfortunately still a pack animal, at least online, and I need somewhere to be around people without physically being around them. The last time I had an active Gaia account was 2015.
Czeslaw Milosz wrote "When it hurts we return to the banks of certain rivers." Gaia is kinda my river. It still seems fun. A lot has changed, but I've been able to make gaia currency much quicker this go around - happy with my avatar and all that. And although it's definitely slower, I think I prefer that in my old age.
