Yami x tea I think would be my favorite. As I was thinking of people to pair up I thought of some scary thoughts: Kaiba x Serenity or even worse: Serenity x Yami Marik.

I didn't think it would be good because Kaiba is always doing stuff for more power for himself while Serenity is always care for others. I guess I could see it happen if Kaiba sall her and made him feel different, but I don't see it ever happening.

I think shes annoying... and "Serenity" in the dub really needs to be punched in the head.

But combined with her voice... It was a little too much.

I don't like Shinzuka either, there's just nothing there. Now to be on the fair side, we don't know how long or how severe her impending blindness was. For all we know she could have been legally blind by the time she got the surgery. (Legally doesn't mean 100%) In that aspect I actually feel sorry for her. Because she has to learn to strengthen her other senses. While doing this on her own without her brother, which is very hard, because we already know that her biological father is verbally abusive.
The idea of Kaiba with Shinzuka I figure was born out of a desire that it could happen in real life. Very shy, very unsure girls winning the heart of a very powerful, very self assured boy.
Kaiba already has stated or it's been written not sure about what attracts him.
Power.
Beauty.
Loyalty.
He craves power so there's nothing that Shinzuka can provide him because she's not very powerful among the world.
She's not drop dead gorgeous.
And her loyalty is to her brother, but she doesn't really have a spine.
Then there are those who try to make her the Reincarnation of Kisara I think. But they forget a very valuable point about Kisara, a trait that Shinzuka doesn't possess. And that 'is' loyalty.
Kisara has never run away from Set, when he gives an order to her she follows it to the letter. Defying him only so that she can be with him, and dying to be able to say he survived.
Shinzuka runs off during Jounouchi's duel against Rashid because she doesn't want to see him lose. But even if he loses she should stay by his side to support him. She comes back only because Jounouchi asks her too.
Again where Kisara would stay by her man so to speak, Shinzuka would rather run away and perserve an image that is not true. (Undefeatable).
Now put Kaiba into the equation. Yugi and Yami Yugi have been working through out the series battling Kaiba's notion about friendship. Trying to get him to understand that he's not alone, and that friends, real friends, don't abandon each other during troubling times.
But there's Shinzuka willing to run away rather then see her brother lose. Which to Kaiba is how he sees people; when you're rich everyone wants to be your friend. But when you fall no one is around.
Why would he want to be with someone who would rather run away and make him face his failures alone?

Aw, I love Shizuka! D: She is so kind and adorable, even if she is a coward. However, that is a very good reason as well why Kaiba/Shizuka is a horrible couple. It seems like Kaiba is kind of like Mai where that he thought he could be on his own but is slowly stepping away from that belief. It just isn't as obvious with him as it is with Mai. But Kaiba would need reasurance and someone to fall back on when he did let his guard down, and Shizuka definitely couldn't provide that.

Yeah, Shizuka's personality is kind of bland, which is why I think a lot of people dislike her. I agree with Lady Lunar Phoenix about the KaibaxShizuka pairing. It makes a lot of sense. :3

ValonxMai: Valon provides the emotional and physical support that Mai needs and she supplies the devotion he longs for. Besides he goes between acting like a cute kid and a determined adult so much it gives her something that isn't so stable that it becomes boring.
Seto/or Priest SetxKisara: He needs her light to survive the darkness of his past. Again she's someone who would stick by his side through out anything and like Mokuba Seto wouldn't drag her down for his own needs. So he would always be in a shade of gray or dancing on the Edge of Light.
MokubaxMana: If she lived in the present it would so work. If for no other reason then they're both pesky little siblings to their respective older sibs. If not that then because I can see them singing 'Paradise by the Dashboard lights' everytime Jounouchi and Mai enter the room.
MahaadoxMai: I don't know what I was thinking when this oh wait yes I do. I was told that supposedly in a translation of the Memory Arc that it's implied that Mahaado and Isis are either married or dating. Refering to what Isis calls Mahaado. But I thought her so boring and figured Mai would be more up Mahaado's way. Since she can be serious but fun too and he needs more fun in his life.
YugixAnzu: Probably simply based on her forward moving dedication and strength to his shy reserved nature. Course that is followed with Anzu's curiosity about where Yugi found all that leather in his closet to dress Yami up in.
Yaoi:
MahaadoxSet: It's a safe relationship for Priest Set. Since they both earned their positions honestly and share the same devotion to the Pharaoh. Unlike say with Jounouchi where there's that constant fear that Jounouchi is using him for something.
RyouxMalik: This is standard. Actually though most have Malik as the Seme my fic, though it's purely friendship is geared more towards Ryou being Seme.
YugixMahaado: The devotion is what gets me.
Yami Yugi(Or Pharaoh)xMahaado: As above so here.
KaibaxMahaado: (Because I believe in switching positions once in a while)

I don't totally consider my favorite couples true couples because they're onsided or/and I could never see them truly together.
Those are:
Anzu x Kaiba
Mai x Yami Malik
Mai x Shizuka (This one is one-sided on Shizuka's side. I can see them happy together, but not romantically connected.)
Isis x Shizuka
The only one two I can see together happily is Otogi and Honda.

I admit though it drove me crazy when she was duling the big 5 member, the robot one. I felt sorry for her becuase she was cared, but at the same time I was thinking, "Come on, get off your butt, and fight, you can sit there and lose or you can try and at least have a chance."
