I actually sent in a submission to one of the Tokyopop Rising Stars of Manga competitions. If I ever upload the pages to my site (which is a whole story unto itself sweatdrop ) then I'll show you guys... I was planning on starting a webcomic this summer also, but I've been so busy... I have the plot and everything worked out too... *sigh*

Naomi-san, did you ever see the winners of the Tokyopop Rising Stars of Manga competition? sweatdrop I wanna submit something to the Tokyopop Rising Stars of Manga competition...

I just wanted to know if the 15-20 page manga your submitting has to have a beginning, a middle and an end. sweatdrop

I think it's preferred that they do, Leri. ^^ After all, you don't want to leave the readers hanging, right? It gives the entire piece a feeling of completion to it.

Ack, my manga is stuck on page 8. D:

True. But then I read their guidelines and then they say that if you win, they'll talk it out with you to expand the idea or make a new series of it or something and I thought, "... well if it's finished, how can you continue it?"

Hmm, that's interesting...I've never been able to read the guidelines before since my computer is way too slow for their webpage.
I do know someone who submitted, didn't win, put it up on the internet, and got put up on an offer to get it published...See here.

I'm not quite sure, but if anyone here is planning on entering, good luck to you!

I actually have two volumes of the RoSM competitions winners. Needed 'em for reference, to see what good examples of submissions should be. ^^; Yes, a story is needed. Some endings were open-ended though, you know, so that you kind of had to leave it up to the imagination. So at least a beginning and middle is needed. Of cource, it's not like you want to end in the middle of a scene or anything, but you get my point. ^_^

My problem was that I put way too much story in twenty pages. sweatdrop I probably had enough ideas to fit a series crammed into twenty pages. I'm working on that problem. xp Which reminds me, I ought to upload the manga for you guys... soon, I swear, I'll get around to it. xp sweatdrop

At last the insanity has appeared! You would think that it would happen earlier but it happens now! sweatdrop My oneshot is going to be made! eek By Oct. 31... eek !!!!!!! Which means I have to finish a project in a matter of minutes and get my mind sorted out! XD Sometimes I wonder how I survive. My dad's music is turned up so loud I can hear it 100% clearly through the office doors. Err...so-called office doors. They're horrible doors, but either way I can hear his music CLEARLY. CLEARLY!! And once you step outside you go almost deaf! Not helpful for trying to think up the name for witches that cook...Cooking Witches? Chef Witches? Witch Chefs? I only have the characters figured out. It's a cooking witch thingy, a nekozoku thingy, a black pot (not kidding), and onion noodles! whee Sound kind of familiar somewhere? It's something about making negi ramen. A Halloween oneshot on negi ramen. Doesn't that sound weird to you? XD So messed up. I think there's going to be a pumpkin and an angel thingy too. Or a pumpkin angel. Ha ha. sweatdrop I have a feeling that won't work. Lord Pumpkin Angel. domokun

Speaking of Manga, I'm in the market for a serious artist. I say serious because it's a very long comic. Please tell me if you are, or know anyone who might be interested.

my high school was going to start a comedy manga, but it didn't work out since there were like 6 dif artists and 4 story writers. but we all couldn't blend artwork and stuff. you should have seen me and this one story writer complaining to the person who was in charge. i was one of the artists, but i quit after 3 weeks. i was just tired of it. we didn't even start a page too. lol xd im glad i left before they even started writing story, because it would have bugged me that we didnt even start.

I would volunteer but I'm really busy this time of year. Plus I've never even finished my own manga. sweatdrop But...I could do colors. Covers and chapter pages, that sort of thing. If you find someone to draw the pages I'd be happy to do that.

Take a look at my DeviantART page if you'd like an example of my work. 3nodding

Heh. Thanks for the offer. Now if only I could find an artist... I have the feeling that will be hard. It's just so long (I'm trying to cut!)... But I spent a lot of time on that sucker and want to at least try and get it going.

I could advertise in my DA journal if you'd like. I have a lot of devwatchers that are manga/anime style artists..one of them might be interested.
