... That quote doesn't make any sense in that context... Who else wrote upside-down that would warrant a "you too," and how exactly did I betray you?

Scratch the latter part; I'd been browsing Gaia and before I saw your post I'd seen a number of upside down posts. Can't remember where though.

Looks like Ike will be Texas bound.
Hoping you're inland enough, Chainsaw?

I knew Ike was going to be bad. I just knew it. Its name was Ike, after all... a name of much power (referencing Ike from Fire Emblem)...

I'll be fine.

Yes, that's good.
I can't figure out why they give these storms powerful names!

HEY!
My Dad used to say "Home, James, and don't spare the horses" to me.
That's from a song, isn't it?

I always thought it was quoted from Sherlock Holmes. I could be wrong though.

EDITING BUMP: I was. It was originally from Queen Victoria.

I thought my Dad said "Home, Jeevez,"
but I never heard anything about horses;
and I have no idea where it came from.
Right turn, Clyde!

Now, that quote I know. Every Which Way But Loose, if I'm not mistaken.

*le What? bump*

Sherlock Holmes or Queen Victoria?

Back in the times it was customary to call drivers and such by their surname. Queen Victoria had a driver called James Darling, and therefore for propriety's sake she called her driver James. She was in a rush one time I think, she dashed into the cab and said: "Home, James, and don't spare the horses!", which then caught on as a phrase of choice.

Oh, it was actually said by Queen Victoria. I didn't know if there was a play or a song or something by that name, or if she herself said it.

And I'd feel very uninformed indeed if I did not know who Sherlock Holmes was (I'm always amazed at how many people believe he was a real person). I actually read the first book, and then started on the Hound of the Baskervilles, but never finished it.

Oh yeah! Clint Eastwood.
What a man.
I'm surprised you got that one.
I remember watching that one with my parents when I was little and just laughing my butt off and that crazy orangutan.

That is very interesting about that quote being originally from Queen Victoria. I think it's been used so much in movies that its origin has been almost forgotten. I've always found how language/words have evolved over time due to different connotations or references.
