I’m just a believer That things will get better Some can take it or leave it But I don’t wanna let it go XXXXXX мυɢɢℓєвσяиє ▽ sιиɢℓє ▽ υиcσиғιиє∂ ⊰Gia didn't know who made their schedule but she certainly wasn't going to complain. She didn't have class until late morning and even then it was History, a class she was most eager to attend to learn more about this odd and slightly backwards world of hers. She walked into class already seeing some familiar faces and decided to take the seat besides Tristan since he wasn't too too bad. A little annoying perhaps but not too bad. Then the professor started the class asking the ultimate open ended question of "what is history" which was not a good question from the answers that was popping up. Sera piped up with her rather stereotypical answer that it was written by the victors and then her other housemate started in on how stupid that was since the victors were sometimes the worse option and that you shouldn't believe something just because it was in a book, both good answers in her mind. It seemed liked it was just going to be the two of them arguing since no one else wanted to share their thoughts which made her think that maybe it would just blow over but then some Ravenclaw had to add their two pence about history basically just summing up what the other two had said which of course meant that the other Slytherin girl had to respond. Her answer made sense even if it made her roll her eyes. Seriously, they were eleven in 2029, not twenty in the seventeenth century. The "winning side," what even was that?! She allowed herself to give a small sigh when what she really wanted to do was blow a raspberry and wondered if there was going to be actual learning any time today or would an actual civil war break out beforehand. ⊱

Avian entered the classroom only to found out that there was an arguement about why history was needed to learned and the like. He came here to have a good time and he's honestly feeling so jinxed right now, he wanted to not join the talk and sat down next to that blonde Hufflepuff guy. He was watching that Slytherin girl (in which, she looked like a rich snob, she reminded him of his little sister Nike), a hot-headed Slytherin guy and a fellow housemate--- Sophie? He shook his head for the Slytherin girl and whispered jokingly to his Hufflepuff seatmate, "Too early for an argument, I suppose? I mean, seriously, this is the 21st century. I could really need some snacks to watch this show. And I got a feeling that the Slytherin girl over might be some old woman in an eleven-year-old's body. Just kidding, of course." He chuckled as he brought out his parchment and quill, and among the History notes there was a funny drawing of three students bickering. For him History was needed to be learned to be aware about why the Wizarding World needed to sit down and learn a thing or two about cooperation regardless of status. That's basically it.

spacePamela wasn't overly enthusiastic about going to History of Magic compared to her other lessons, but she was at least more interested in it than normal, boring history. Presumably she'd be learning about history from a magical perspective, which to her sounded almost like she'd be reading fantasy novel... or listening to a book on tape of one, since they would be getting lectures from Professor Powell. Pam decided immediately that she liked the man, though; he had a very pleasant face. Open and friendly-seeming. Also, he had his feet on the desk, which was very chill of him, and not at all what she would have expected from a history professor. She settled in next to her best friend and Alice, not even remotely surprised to see that Aster already looked bored out of her skull. And then, of course, a few of the students seemed to be arguing, though why, she didn't quite get, because it didn't really seem like any of them disagreed with each other... well, except the Slytherin girl. Pam wrinkled her nose in distaste; being on the winning side wasn't more important than being on the right one! But, she didn't want the so-far somewhat heated discussion to turn into an all-out fight by contradicting the brunette, and so stayed silent on the matter. Besides, didn't want to make a bad impression on the obviously-awesome professor on the first day of class! That'd be bad. You never wanted to get on the cool teacher's bad sides, it was never a fun place to be.

spaceLorelei chose to sit next to Gianna when she entered the classroom; of her housemates, thus far she found her to be the least problematic. While they had wildly different approaches to how they handled social interactions, given that Gia didn't seem the sort to stay quiet, and Lori preferred to, from what she could tell, their views lined up rather nicely. The muggleborn had heard a lot of talk inside their Common Room and dorms about 'mudbloods,' an had asked her elder half-brother about it; Leslie had informed her that it was an insult for people like themselves, who were magical but from non-magical families. Apparently, Slytherin house traditionally was home to many people who considered muggleborns to be beneath them, due to being the house most commonly associated with traits admired by old-world families. It didn't surprise Lori that she had landed herself in a literal den of snakes; from what she gathered, old wizard families and old muggle families weren't all that different. Snobby and uptight and thought they were better than everyone else. She certainly got that sort of vibe from Sera; she didn't know if she'd be able to get along with the other girl, even if she weren't one of the ones who disliked muggleborns. After all, she didn't exactly have a history of getting along with the snobby muggle girls, either. Apparently she and her brother held that in common; he didn't have any friends inside those circles, either. In any case, Sera simply reminded her too much of all the girls she'd spent her life attempting to ignore. Gia was a bit less... cultured, perhaps? But still infinitely more pleasant to be around.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxLionel Santiago LiraxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxHufflepuff First Year"There are big ships and small ships." Lionel seemed to walk in straight to an argument, not really knowing exactly what was going on. He knew this was history class...so how could someone get into a true argument about history. Like c'mon, history passed maybe one-hundred years may have shaped the foundations, but modernization always seemed like more of a driving force towards why the world was the way it was. But of course, this was from a kid of a 'non-wizard' family's opinion as well. And 'non-wizards' seemed to be a lot more modernized than these wizards. All the technology at the disposal of 'non-wizards' said it all. The clothes...said it all...so maybe this wizard history could be a lot less about modernization and more about tradition.
As he walked in, he looked to sit with one of his housemates, to which he knew might be able to give him an answer of what had just unfurled. He chose the Hufflepuff boy Zephyros, who was sitting next to another first year of a different house. He looked over at each of them. "Do either of you know what is happening? It seems I got here slightly after this started apparently," he whispered silently, hoping to get some sort of an answer, but of course, he could be ignored. "But the best ship of all is friendship. It turned from average but pleasant to engaging but hostile. All because of what one Slytherin kid said. A chain reaction, in other words. He knew that not all Slytherins were bad, hell, most of them were very pleasant, but the ones in this class rubbed him the wrong way. They all seemed fairly stuck-up and snobby.
He looked to his side again as another of Zeph's housemates joined them. Levi had to rack his brain to remember the boy's name. Lionel, was it? Yeah, that was it. He shrugged his shoulders in response to Lionel's question, though he pointed towards the boy, Tristan, who started the whole thing. He made sure to keep the point hidden, though. Sybil walked into the History of Magic room a little less enthusiastic than she would've liked to appear. As her first class of the year, Sybil wasn't all that excited. She wasn't like Lexine, she got bored with history and couldn't sit through those dumb documentaries for a minute before falling asleep. Sybil knew she was going to have to watch herself. As soon as Professor Powell, whom Sybil decided she was at least going to like as a person, if she wasn't going to like his subject, introduced himself and asked them a question, what seemed like a debate started, and in the centre of it was some prim-'n-proper Slytherin girl. Sybil blinked a few times, staring at the girl. The 'winning side'? Didn't care about history repeating itself? Most of what the girl was saying was very...well, dumb, to state simply. The girl was obviously a bit stuck-up; it was people like her, Sybil realised, that gave Slytherin a bad name. However, Sybil stayed silent. She was too smart to interject, with people like her it was useless to even try to explain how wrong she was. History wasn't written to show why 'the losers were losers and the winners were winners' and so 'we can shape our actions in the suture so we can come out victorious as well'. And learning to not repeat history was something that was very important when learning about history, Sybil had gathered that from the bits and pieces she retrieved from Lexine. And wasn't her saying 'if something had been tried and failed ti would be awfully moronic to try the same thing again' a contradiction to her later statement, 'I really don't care if history repeats itself or not'? The Slytherin made Sybil want to throw something at her...but she wasn't going to do that, now, was she? Sybil just sat, silently stewing in the corner of the room.

Grayson walked into the classroom, eyes examining the room as he steps up to the board to write something in large letters before placing the chalk down and standing before the class.
"Hello class, and welcome back. Today, we're going to go over the history of Hogwarts."
"Hogwarts was founded in the ninth to tenth century by its founders, Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin. They came together to build the school due to increased suspicion of muggles and magic, and wanted to teach students without fear of prosecution. However, not all of them agreed on which students should be accepted into the school. Salazar Slytherin wanted to only admit purebloods, which was at odds with the other founders. He left the school, and never returned.
"Hogwarts was one of the finest institutes for magical learning by the thirteenth century, and together with Durmstrang and Beauxbatons, started the Triwizard Tournament. However, due to injuries and deaths resulting from the tournament, it was disbanded six centuries after it started. There have been many attempts to reinstate it, but none have been successful.
"More recently, the school has been the site for many different incidents in the last century. It was here that Voldemort learned his magic, and here that Harry Potter defeated him in the Battle for Hogwarts. It has also been the site for the most recent attempt for the Triwizard Tournament, and obviously remains a major school for magic today."
He looked about the class. "Now I know that some of you may have questions, so don't hesitate to ask. I would be happy to answer them to the best of my ability."

Sybil walked into History of Magic, quickly taking a seat near the back of the room. She still wasn't completely sure how she was going to get through History, and hadn't decided whether or not she was going to even like History of Magic. If she was having any problems, Sybil knew her sister would be eager to help her out -- Lexine was a bit of a history-nut, it was questionable on why she didn't want to become a historian or something. She smoothed out a piece of parchment paper as she awaited the lesson to begin; as soon as it did, Sybil started taking notes (she might as well, otherwise she was going to daydream). They were going over the history of Hogwarts school, or at least a bit of it, as it was very clear that there was a lot of history within the walls of Hogwarts. If these walls could talk... Sybil thought as she continued to write out her notes. She paused for a moment, frowning a bit. There's probably a spell for that... She figured, sitting there a moment, staring at her paper, before quickly catching back up to the notes she was taking. Once the lecture was over, Sybil set her quill back in its well and leaned back. Thinking a bit, Sybil raised her hand. "Professor, I was wondering, is there much interaction between the different wizarding schools? Other than the triwizard tournament, that is..." Sybil asked, curious. She had never really heard of the schools getting together at any point other than the tournament, and if the headmasters and headmistresses got along was something Sybil wasn't sure about. Sure, maybe it didn't have anything to do with Hogwart's history, but that didn't mean she wasn't curious...

Aster supposed she had better at least try to pay attention this lesson, since it was on the history of the school she currently attended. And Hogwarts was pretty wicked. She snickered a bit at some of the names, but sort of took notes. Her curiosity was less reluctant. "What the heck are Durmstrang and Beauxbatons? Other schools, right? Is Beaux-whatever like the French Hogwarts or something?" It wasn't like she was so 'uncultured'. She knew some things. "And can we clear up who Voldemort was? Evil dude, right? LOCATION » History of Magic classroom. COMPANY » Professor Powell and other first years. WEARING » Ravenclaw Robes. OOC » Yaaaay learning~ Sophie dutifully scrawled 'History of Hogwarts' at the top of her parchment while Professor Powell began his lecture. This seemed like it was going to be an interesting class. While she had been accepted and was attending the school, she actually knew very little about it. As the Professor began telling them about the founding of the school, the brunette hurriedly attempted to write down everything that he was saying. She inferred that 'purebloods' referred to witches and wizards that didn't have any muggles in their families and made a note on her paper.
The Triwizard Tournament sounded rather daunting. They put students of multiple schools in danger all for a Tournament? Who was Voldemort? Or Harry Potter? What were they fighting about? And why at Hogwarts, a school? And this all happened in just the last century? Maybe she shouldn't tell her parents all of this..no reason for them to worry.
Then it was time for questions and discussion and two other girls were quick to ask. Sophie scribbled down their questions, hoping to write down the answers soon. The second girl, a Gryffindor had quite a lot of questions and a quite unique way of asking them. Not able to hide her smile, Sophie pointed a thumb towards her and stated, "What she said."

Grayson looked up from his book as he noticed the students coming in. He didn't know how long he had been sitting reading, but the effect was always the same. Usually it would end with him being confused about what was going on, but today was different. He was supposed to be teaching the class, and as usual, it left him a bit awkward as to how to go about it. He however decided to go about doing it the simple way.
"Hello, class, and welcome to History of Magic. I am your professor, Grayson Powell. In this class, there is no wandwork, since magic doesn't help you to learn about history. Therefore, your wands will need to be put away." He stood, taking his feet from off the desk and faced the children directly. "History is a collection of events, as I'm sure you are all well aware of. However, these events help to shape the world around us. If not for the witch burnings of the sixteen hundreds, we would not have the Statue of Secrecy. If not for the crises of the last century, we would not have cooperation of all magical folk." He glanced around the class, letting his gaze fall over each of the students. "Now, can someone tell me, besides what I have stated, why history needs to be learned?"

Location : History - Monday @ 1:00pm Emma spent the whole morning after breakfast walking the castle. The last thing she wanted was to get lost on her first day of classes. So when it came to get to her history class she knew where she was going (for the most part). The white haired girl entered class early not knowing how long it would take her to get there from the Hufflepuff common room. Taking a seat near the front, Emma hoped her Professors were nice. She'd met one and she was related to another but she wouldn't have either of them till later on. Pulling out her history book, Emma looked to the front when class began. She honestly didn't know what to expect in a history class to do with the magical world. Listening it seemed to her like one of your typical history classes so maybe it wouldn't be so bad. Being asked why they learn history, Emma slowly raised her hand. "Um... history tells us where we come from and how we've come this far." she answered. If not for this class she may never know how she became so different, like her uncle. This was a world she wanted to know about or at least enough to get her by. Status: Happy With: Class...
